Q: Can you remove the mount piece and attach it to a standard tripod?

A: You can only remove the "clamping" piece that holds the phone. It threads onto a standard tripod screw. It has two screw mouting holes, one vertical, one horizontal.

Q: How do you unlock it? I closed it over my phone and can't release the lock

A: It is really hard and i had trouble too! You have to unlock and pull real hard. I was afraid i was going to break my phone. After i got it out i set it so i could slide my phone in but it was still snug. Pretty poor design. I think i will see if another cell phone adapter will fit and not use that one anymore

A: Pictures 11 & 12 appear to have a special bracket which can hold an LED Light and/or microphone externally. You can buy brackets separately to accommodate your desired set up.

Q: Will it hold a samsung note 9 vertically and securely?

A: Yes it will I've used my note 10 with no issues.

Q: Will this fit a cased iPhone 6? Or do you need to take it out of the case for it to work?

A: Yes it will fit a cases iPhone 6. It will fit. I have a cased large iPhone 10.

Q: Can I add a mic or a small portable lighting on the tripod?

A: Yes, the phone mount has a cold shoe. If you look at the pictures on the Best Buy website one shows the tripod with a light attached in the cold shoe.

Q: I can’t unlock the phone extender? What do i do?

A: There’s a little black switch you can flip open to make the sides extendable, then it’s up to you to pull both sides far enough for your phone to fit. My iPhone 13ProMax fits.

Q: Is this a stabilizer?

A: It can definitely be used as one, just lock the legs and ball turn once it’s in place, and use remote to activate.

I LOVE THIS THING!
I purchased the Joby HandyPod for my iPhone 11 Pro and it has been a great investment as it makes the phone so much easier to handle and use for photos and video. It securely clamps on my iPhone 11 Pro. I have the regular version but it appears that it will fit the 11 Pro Max as well. It has rubber padding on the clamps that will protect your phone if it is not in a case. The pads are grippy but not too squishy to hold firmly and protect the phone. The clamp lever works great. I have not had any issues with the lever and clamp working to create a firm and secure hold on the phone. The tripod legs provide a wide enough base that I can hold my phone in vertical mode with the Rode Wireless Go attached to the cold shoe without it tipping over. The feet have rubber on them that keep the tripod from sliding around on table surfaces. I found this was helpful for keeping the tripod and phone solid on the dash of my van as I recorded a time lapse on a drive through town. The clamp has a cold shoe which works great for mounting a mic that you might want to plug into your phone. This makes it ideal for vlogs. It also has a 1/4-20 thread on the side of the phone clamp, this allows for additional items to be added to create a small rig or for mounting to the tripod. The push button lock with the ball and socket head adjustment works better than I expected. It is genius in that it allows for rapid positioning of the head yet holds securely. I find myself using the HandyPod as a better way to securely hold the phone by hand, adding stability for both still images and video. I have had a lot of fun using it to hold my iPhone 11 Pro upside down, close to the ground to capture video clips of my dogs. While it is not a gimbal, it has worked well for me to capture amazing video in low angles to my subjects. I have been able to record video that looks like I used a gimbal. I have also found myself using the phone clamp without the tripod. This allows for a better handhold on the phone. This was not something I had thought about being able to do before the purchase and is a great way to use the phone clamp. I highly recommend the Joby HandyPod. It Is well constructed and I trust it to hold my new iPhone 11 Pro. I think you will enjoy the many useful features and you will find it worth the purchase. (In the photos you will notice the screen protector is cracked on the phone, that was from me dropping it on a job site and has nothing to do with the HandyPod. A new screen protector is on it’s way thanks to the Belkin Warranty.)

Solid!
I purchased this item for my Sony A6000 camera. The item is very well constructed and sturdy. The grip is excellent and is a solid mini tripod.

Handy Little Tripod
It's small but made of quality materials and easy to set up and use. I ended up returning the camera I bought to go with it but kept this tripod as it works well with my phone.
