Joe Tex (1935-1982) was an American R&B and soul singer from Texas. Born Joseph Arrington Jr., he began his music career as a gospel singer in the 1950s, but soon transitioned to secular music and began recording for King Records in the early 1960s. As well as his success as a recording artist, Joe Tex was also a prolific songwriter, and penned hits for the likes of Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin and B.B. King.
