Johnny Holiday was an American singer of jazz standards who got his first career boost in the late 1940's as featured vocalist for the Glen Miller orchestra, under the direction of Ray McKinley after Miller's death, and became quite a popular entertainer in Europe. After arriving in California in 1950, Holiday recorded briefly for Capitol Records, followed by an album for Dick Bock's Pacifica tag. In addition, Holiday also recorded for Contemporary Records, Kapp Records with Russ Garcia, and the Mode tag with the great Marty Paich arranging. It was during this time (1957-58) that Johnny recorded the album presented here - featuring popular music classics from Broadway, motion pictures, and evergreens from the great American songbook, all sung with the utmost quality and artistic taste - including the title track InchSurrey with a Fringe on Top,Inch InchLullaby of Birdland,Inch InchThe Days of Wine And RosesInch and many more.
