In the confines of her sitcom universe, Worcester housewife Allison McRoberts (Annie Murphy) seemed to have little to rely on but snarky comebacks as she dealt with marriage to boorish man-child cable guy Kevin (Eric Petersen). As she took private, dark (and single-camera) moments away from her canned-laughter surroundings, though, she'd plot to break out of them and find her own path.
