About This Item

Six CD set. Contains six albums from Missouri trio King's X from their Megaforce and Atlantic Records releases from 1988 onwards. Includes bonus tracks and individual CD sleeves. Their CS Lewis-inspired debut Out Of The Silent Planet from 1988 introduced a hard rock sound fused with elements of psychedelia, funk, soul and gospel, becoming an important influence on the development of progressive metal, alternative rock and even grunge. Critical acclaim followed; especially in the UK through the support of magazine's such as Kerrang!. Although not strictly speaking a Christian Rock band, their records featured on Billboard's Christian music chart, and their 1989 conceptual second record Gretchen Goes To Nebraska features themes of faith and spirituality. The prolific band released their third record in three years with 1990's Faith Hope Love, their first to break into the all important Billboard Hot 100. Moving from Megaforce to parent tag Atlantic in 1992, the self-titled King's X sported a darker and more introspective sound than before and was their last to be producer by long time collaborator Sam Taylor. Employing producer Brendan O'Brien (Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam), King's X switched to a heavier sound with 1994's Dogman. Live versions of InchShoesInch and InchWe Were Born to Be LovedInch are included as bonus tracks. Housed in a psychedelic cover design, 1996's Ear Candy, produced with Arnold Lanni, was King's X's sixth album and final record for Atlantic before switching to Metal Blade records. Album Tracks 1. In the New Age 2. Goldilox 3. Power of Love 4. Wonder 5. Sometimes 6. King 7. What Is This? 8. Far, Far Away 9. Shot of Love 10. Visions 1. Out of the Silent Planet 2. Over My Head 3. Summerland 4. Everybody Knows a Little Bit of Something 5. The Difference (In the Garden of St. Anne's-On-The- Hill) 6. I'll Never Be

Deftones - Around the Fur - VINYL LP
    4.6(12)

Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression. This LP version comes pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Album Tracks 1. My Own Summer (Shove It) 2. Lhabia 3. Mascara 4. Around the Fur 5. Rickets 6. Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) 7. Lotion 8. Dai the Flu 9. Headup 10. MX
