Our new hood has been installed and use now for awhile now. First the price as a whole is very high. With that said, for us it saved me from doing all the vent work to the roof. That has some value. Was an outstanding choice for our pot filler as well, with the hood only being 10 inches instead of 20 or 30. The is Geeat on low or high, The fan outstanding, 500 cfm. Some vented hoods are only 300-400. All in all it’s exactly what we wanted. O ya, kinda important we don’t use microwaves. But Mom and Dad live with us and they use it like cray. They love it. Pop says it’s heats his of coffee up like a champ. Overwhelmingly recommend. USMC/USAF Ret.

I’ve had several GE over range microwaves over the past 3 decades and they really haven’t changed much over the years. They were all big, bulky and not particularly nice to look at. This KitchenAid machine is a departure from that. It has a very sleek design without an exposed keypad. You can operate it just fine with the few buttons that are exposed with the door closed but don’t worry, the keypad with all it’s features is there, hidden but accessible once you open the door. There is a button that pops the door open electronically or you can pull it from a recessed cavity underneath. No handles on the machine which improves its appearance. . The machine 6 or 7 inches shorter than a standard which affords you more space to access your range and show off your backsplash tiles. The microwave protrudes out a few inches more than what you may be used to and the van vent blows up out of the top instead of the top of the face like standard microwaves. The inside space is still generous and can fit most dishes but it’s shorter and a tall bottle may be a problem. Baby bottles may not fit standing up, I haven’t had an opportunity to use it that much but it’s been a pleasure to look at and it appears to be really well made. There is a less fancy whirlpool version that is cheaper that could be a good option. I got this on sale which did help with the decision and it matches nicely with my kitchenaid suite of appliances. Best Buy has always been great to deal with for my appliance purchases but right now, appliances are in short supply and it takes some shopping around just to find them.

This microwave is replacing our old OTR microwave from 2007. In comparison, the inner dimensions are wider and deeper, but a little shorter. We can fit everything we normally put in the microwave, and there is plenty of room for a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup. The inside wipes down easily. The light is excellent, very bright, with a High and Low setting. The fan is very powerful with 4 settings to choose from - High, Medium, Medium Low, Low. The front of the microwave does show finger prints easily, but with the sleek look and the hidden keypad buttons, it’s simple to wipe down. Installation will require 2 people to lift and get it hooked into the bracket. The new standard sized microwaves are too long top to bottom and reduce your cooking space underneath, so this low profile microwave is excellent to open up more usable space between the stove and the bottom of the unit.

I've had this installed in my kitchen now for about 2 weeks now and am very impressed with this small unit. It's quiet, has a powerful fan (2-500 cfm fans) and the lights can't be beat for illuminating the surface of your range. I have mine installed as recirculating (venting baffle included) and it eliminates smoke, grease and keeps that smoke alarm from going off if your searing a piece of meat on a high BTU burner. The compact height of the unit allows for large pots on the stove without compromising work space. As far as interior space, you can fit large bowls or glass casserole dishes with ease. Nice simple forward control panel, makes it easy to use. Highly recommend this unit. High quality and worth the money.

The amount of space you save is fantastic The features are all there like any microwave and it is sleek it has lighting underneath and it is the best microwave I've had and I've had the KitchenAid with convection oven that does everything This one is perfect for today's living

Easy to install after watching videos on YouTube. Paper Instructions that are included a bit muddy... looks great. Haven’t missed a tall microwave yet. Lights look great that shine down onto stove. A big pot of boiling water is a lot for the vent to handle. I had to wipe down microwave after boiling cabbage and open door to wipe vapor to see display. Could’ve been sealed at bottom better by design...Overall 4 stars.

As a range hood with 500cfm rating we have found this unit much quieter than expected, though at highest speed it's notably louder (and moving *much* more air) than a 400cfm unit from another brand that is likely made in the same factory. Dimensions are a frequent question and were of real interest to me when shopping: I wanted the smallest possible intrusion into the over-range space, so as to be the least distraction to the cook. Height: 10 1/4" per marketing; 10 5/16" per Q&A. It is 10 1/4" on the side face. The lip at the mounting plate's base adds 1/64". The inevitable sag off the front mounting bolts adds 3/64". So yeah, installed it's gonna be 10 1/4 at the rear and 10 5/16" at the front. No big deal in itself, *but* this could make the opened door swing into the kitchen when left ajar. If leaving an oven door ajar is part of your cooking style, you might want to install the rear mounting plate 1/32"-1/16" low to balance the door swing. Depth: 18" marketing, 18 5/16" installed. The unit's side faces are 18" but the rear includes several protrusions that the mounting plate accomodates. I somehow overcame my temptation to tear out the sheetrock, notch the studs, and put in new sheetrock to gain back the "lost" airspace above the range. The extra 5/16" has been less of an issue than expected, so I'll leave it as is. Width: 30" marketing, 29 7/8" in some other place (installation manual, maybe?) The chassis 29 7/8" and the side's sheet metal has enough flex to bow out and close the gap in a 30" cabinet opening. This makes a much easier install without scraping up the unit or your cabinets on the way in. The sides' sheet metal flexes out 1/32" on each side to touch the side cabinets for a nice clean & flush look. Venting efficiency: Very good, I'd say excellent for a sub-600cfm hood. Keep in mind any vent 500cfm or greater requires an air-balancing intake into the house. Any exhaust greater than 200cfm really will tax your living space's ability to leak in enough air to balance, and as you approach 400cfm only the draftiest houses will leak in enough to keep from drawing in bad air (from a gas furnace system, radon-trapping crawl space, etc). So before you crank up the speed past 2, crack a window 1-2"; for max running, don't be afraid to give yourself a full 2 square feet of open window for air-balance inflow. Grease traps: this is one of my pet peeves with household range hoods: why do they all use aluminum mesh? The downsized "restaurant-style" grease traps really work, they're easy to remove, and so much easier to actually clean. Finally a household level option that is designed to be maintained! Just remember: while they've made it so-o much easier to maintain, you still have to do it. Try cleaning them, frying a seared-steak, burger or bacon meal, and pulling them out right after: voila, there is your meal's exhaust, ready to wash right along with the pots & pans! And it's a good learning moment to learn which meals put how much grease into our kitchen exhaust systems. Venting range exhaust into the indoor space: I saw this comment on several reviews and I think the concern is warranted. I installed as a rear-exhaust through wall, with a 90-degree to vertical 7" duct, without a damper for maximum air flow - and in part because I thought a poorly installed or obstructed damper might be a source of these complaints. This did not reduce recirculation to zero: the front vents (ostensibly for the microwave's operation and venting only) do return some small amount of dirty air into the kitchen. This makes sense to me - if the microwave is venting its own air, that air must be coming from under the unit, and that's the same air I'm trying to get rid of. I've still got more to look into on this, but for now I've covered the left-side vent with a fridge magnet and that takes care of it enough for us. It's easily removable as I wouldn't want to go against manufacturer recommendations when using the microwave. We replaced an old Venmar dedicated range hood with this unit. At 800cfm it was more than we needed. Downsizing the this 500cfm unit means we can't get away with belching out smoke without opening a window, but that's for the best anyway (we have a gas furnace and a crawl space, so turning the kitchen into an 800cfm negative-pressure vacuum was not our brightest remodeling move). This unit helps remind us the proper source for air balance is the good ol' kitchen window. Microwave: it works! I guess! I heated a cup of water from 60 to 150 in about 30 seconds to pre-test before full installation. That's the last time we've used it. We're not microwave people I guess, and getting a microwave hasn't yet changed that. Um... it stays clean. it's big enough for us. The good news, if you're reading this you'll find plenty of other reviews with more to say on the microwave! :)

Great microwave, so far. I switched my old over-the-stove microwave out, primarily to gain more space between the microwave and the burners below it. Now, I have plenty of space in my microwave for our needs, but have gained a ton of useful work-space above my cooktop. Works well. Great design. Cons to date are minor: the design is sleek and clean with most buttons hidden. But, the unnecessarily large Kitchen Aid logo detracts from that nice design. It also means you have to open the microwave door to get to most of the function buttons.

After settling on this model, BB price-matched the warehouse store where it was out of stock, so very pleased. We installed it ourselves which was a bit of a struggle due to our tile backsplash affecting the alignment of the forward bolt holes in cabinet above with those in the top of the unit. Like the auto 30 sec Start feature, covers most of our needs. Took away a star because the option selections are limited & you have to press the button several times to scroll through them. Also the door was squeaky but sewing machine oil with a needle tip applicator applied to the recessed hinges did the trick. We replaced a 36" wide KA full size unit so had to order 3" brushed SS side panels to fill the gaps on either side of this 30" unit. Whirlpool/KA does not make them for space saver models; had to take their 17" L brackets to a sheet metal shop to have them reduced to the 10½" height of this unit. These are visible in the photo.

It is great looking and always gets noticed. Dose a great job lighting the stove top and the wisper fans clear away smoke and steam beautifully. Oh yeah, its a great microwave too!

Don’t have an outside vent. We looked for the best rated recirculating filtration system. The fact that it’s low profile was a plus. Love the way it looks with more space above the range. It’s hitting on all cylinders. Decent overhead light, powerful fan for our enclosed space and the microwave is what you’d expect.

Awesome to have room over range now. The only thing that seems smaller inside is the height. Overhang is about 2in further out but really love the light settings, great ventilation, auto open feature and is a bit easier to install that the full height ones. Wall bracket is perfect, seamless install. Forgive the pics though, still waiting on countertops

I bought a new house and the OTR microwave broke within 2 months. I never had an OTR microwave before, so I started doing research. I wanted more space for the cook top, so I started looking at low profile microwaves. Since my old microwave had a recycled exhaust, I wanted a good exhaust. The KitchenAid had one of the highest exhaust capabilities (CFM). So far, so good! The exhaust is powerful (which means it is louder at full blast) and has 3 settings. Overall, very happy with the microwave. It looks very nice and performance is great. Glad I purchased.

Our previous LG worked great but hung down low over our range. This unit gives a 12 inches of new clearance space! Yes it comes out 4" further from wall but works better as a vent fan hood unit. With it up high, we have much better access to the range. We went with the KitchenAid vs the Whirlpool for the better lighting and stronger 4 speed fan. The lighting is great!!

Slim design take less space . not come with hanging mount but come with other attachments like screws and instructions. Nice features Easy and convenient to use. I like touch screen inside the door to safe it from grease or dirt . also one touch quick features bon front . Microwave is more long then usual and less deep . some time not convenient for large bowl . also not heat well for big amount of food . or if bowl or plate is heavy ceramic. its goid but not super good..

I have a small kitchen and just remodeled. I like the slim profile, and sleek look. Love the light under mount light for over the stove. I’m tall so I like that it’s placed higher than normal

I love love love this microwave! We have limited space between the range and the upper cabinets and didn't want to waste counter space with having a bulky microwave sitting out. We replaced the original vent hood (which was outdated and came with the house) when we purchased it. We mainly use the "30 second" button and this one has it front and center. I also like the "quick defrost" button which automatically is set to defrost 1lb and only takes about 40 minutes. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to fit taller items inside, but after having this for several months, that hasn't been an issue. I was originally looking for something that would match the other appliances in the house (which are GE Profile and in perfect condition), but come to find out that Whirlpool (who also makes KitchenAid) holds the Patent on this, so if you're looking for a brand other than Whirlpool or KitchenAid, don't waste your time. (At least this is true at the time of me writing this 12/2020.) Since replacing all the appliances for a matching microwave would've been foolish, we opted on spending a little extra for the KitchenAid since it matches the mixer which sits nearby. We actually installed this ourselves. (With the help of my step-dad) who is wonderful in all things handy. I've put together and installed cabinets before and also a grill. And this isn't terribly complicated once you read the directions. But, doing that also saved a couple hundred dollars. Overall I'm very pleased not only with the KitchenAid low profile microwave, but thankful BestBuy was having a sale when it was purchased.

Needed something low profile due to my older home. This is so sleek. Very easy to uae. We get compliments on how "cool" the open feature is and how it greats you and also says "enjoy." The background of the microwave is really nice as well. Super easy to clean.

Like the size of the microwave but it protrudes from the cabinet a bit more than expected; we have gotten used to that. On the inside there is plenty of room for what we use it for. Thought it was strange that the top of the microwave (by the vents) are not the same color as the external walls but depending on your height you may not see that
