1st unit came and the Best Buy tech scrapped the front finish with a razor knife unpacking. 2nd unit came the next week and they installed it. When it was finally unpacked inside there were chunks of it insulation foam stuck to the back like it wasn’t properly sealed when it was insulated. Best Buy cannot tell us when they will bring us a 3rd unit. Hopefully functional without any quality issues. Have called 4 times in 3 weeks.

After 15 months, the Ice Maker Blower Fan unit failed, and that was a $300 expense to replace. $4000 refrigerator and the Ice Maker didn’t last a year and a half???? Of course, KitchenAid support is beyond worthless and won’t assist with this problem…they DO NOT stand behind their quality problems and all but hide in order to NOT provide a support,

Very disappointed, installers installed microwave stove and dishwasher even though my husband expressed that we had concerns about fridge fitting. We visited Orland Park store 3 times with our measurements expressing concerns and the salesmen assured us it would fit by using the leveling wheels, well our model has no leveling wheels. Called and spoke with customer service and no one could help us. Other than offer to pick up the fridge at a cost to us. We now have two fridges in our kitchen that we cannot use. I have a cooler of food that is going bad and your company has left us stranded. We also were told by the salesman that the installers would move our old fridge to the garage but they refused and now my 70 year old husband has to try and do it. We want to return all 7000.00 of the package and will be visiting the store tonight and if we don’t get satisfactory service I will tell every customer in the store to run!!! Because you are awful.

Looks great BUT the compressor went out on the fifth day it was delivered. We noticed the water filter was dispensing water very slowly on the fourth day. Very disappointed with my Kitchenaid fridge. My previous one lasted 19 years .

Beware!!!!!! First day received it didn't work. Bought the additional 5 year insurance on this too (who would have thought it wouldn't work at least for a year?). Called best buy 11 times to get a return kept getting hung up on. Finally reached someone and then they told me fridge is out of stock. Now they are sending a repair person for a brand new $5,000 fridge. Fridge looks nice but that's all that is good about it.

Wait for the plot twist at the end. Let me set the scene: a brand-new fridge that promises the world and delivers… well, mostly headaches and spoiled milk. In the four tumultuous years of our relationship, this fridge has been on vacation for a whopping 14 months—out cold (or should I say, out warm?) thanks to a delightful assortment of breakdowns. From a sassy thermistor to rebelliously frozen coils, and let’s not forget a four-month COVID repair hiatus. That’s right, folks, it’s been a non-operational decor piece for 25% of its life since 2019! But let’s not be all doom and gloom. When it decides to work, this fridge is a stunner. It cools so evenly you could store your hopes and dreams in there and they’d never spoil—unlike my groceries. And the lighting? Chef’s kiss! You’ll be able to see your food spoil in high definition. And sure, you could drop $10k on a fridge that actually works, but why miss out on this rollercoaster of emotions at your regular, everyday appliance store? The temperature precision is spot on—you ask for 34°F, you get 34°F in every nook and cranny. It’s like the Bermuda Triangle; things go in fresh and disappear… into a state of perpetual preservation. The ice maker? It’s the little engine that could, churning out adorable trapezoid ice until, of course, it inevitably gives up too. And despite the cavalcade of bad reviews, it appears no quality control was actually conducted—unless missing it was the goal. To my fellow sufferers who own this model and are teetering on the edge of appliance-induced madness, I say: hold on. Eventually, the service folks will throw in the towel just like they did with me. After replacing everything from compressors to electronic boards—multiple times!—I was even compensated a whopping $250 for my multiple food losses (a mere snack for my troubles). In a dramatic twist, after the last tech visit, with a resigned shrug, they admitted defeat. They dialed up Whirlpool themselves, conceding that after replacing every conceivable part, the fridge still preferred to vent its freon like teenage angst. Today, I've been assured of a replacement with the latest model. Yes, another identical fridge, because who doesn’t love a sequel? It’s still under the nick-of-time warranty, so, fingers crossed, this resolves my troubles until the next breakdown, forecasted just in time for a not-so-merry Christmas '24. So, if you desire a fridge that excels in aesthetics over actual refrigeration, making a fabulous, albeit warm, cabinet—this, my friends, is the fridge for you!

As an interior designer looks are very important to me. I read the reviews and failed to listen to them. Thinking maybe I will be lucky and will not get a bad fridge as I read in the reviews. Unfortunately my luck was not with me. I have owned this fridge since September 9th 2019 and I am now going to be on my second service call. My first experience was my food going bad as a refrigerator would not cool. They had to send out a tech which came and checked out the fridge. He determined he had to order a part as the original part froze up and would not do the job properly. So I had to wait several days for the new part to come in. Keep in mind I had no food as all my food went bad. Here I am less than a month later in my refrigerator is once again not keeping the proper temperature. Please trust me and do not buy this fridge. Do not be a sucker like me because it looks amazing. The actual mechanics and design of this product is very poor. There has to be a reason why there are so many one stars.

Bought this in 2019. First thing was the stainless steel started rusting, even though I clean the front with Weimers cleaner. Then, the ice machine broke in 2022. Water dripped down the front and the ice box didn't get cold enough to keep the cubes hard. Geek squad came out 3 times, replaced everything, Didn't fix the problem. Now the cubes come down into the box, but they don't stay cold enough, so they partially melt together. We have to use an ice pick to break up the cubes and scoop them out by hand. Then two weeks ago (2024) the fridge stopped working. First repair person said it was the compressor that would cost $1,000 and the labor $1,500. Second repair person said it was the electrical - $750 which we paid and then said it was the compressor, another $800. We have been without a fridge for 2 weeks. We lost probably $300 in food that was in the fridge and we have had to go out to eat for 2 weeks ($200). The compressor will be installed next week. But that does not guarantee that the ice maker will be working! We also bought a KitchenAide over the stove microwave and the light went out after a year. Had to replace the whole electrical panel. Fortunately that was still under warranty. I will not purchase another Kitchen Aide Fridge or appliance. All the service people say their compressors have a terrible track record and their ice machines even worse. No thanks - don't buy one.

This is a gorgeous refrigerator. I modified the cabinets to allow the extra height and it was worth it. The inside it so very well lit, nothing can hide. It replaced a 10-year-old Samsung counter depth fridge that was leaking water. The printshield works well, very easy to clean. The cut handles are great non-slip solution and look fantastic. The layout of the usable space in both the freezer and the fridge is thoughtful. Here's where the one star comes in, the ice maker has never worked. Installed May of 2021, it has never produced ice. Called Best Buy out, I paid for professional installation, they re-leveled the fridge. Still nothing. Called KitchenAid, they sent a technician out. He did some tweaking, said to call him in 24 hours to see if it made ice, nothing. He came back out got KitchenAid on the phone, had to order parts. They said expect to wait 2-3 months for parts. $4000 fridge, no ice. I am fearful the parts aren't going to solve the problem and it will be another 2-3 months... Sadly the 10-year-old Samsung still produced ice even the day I unplugged it.

I paid $3779.99 for this beautiful fridge, and had my kitchen cabinets built in around this appliance, as well as a wine fridge and microwave, all from Kitchen Aid. Within 5 months, the ice maker did not work. Two weeks later, the Control board and evaporator cover had to be replaced because it was frozen solid and unit was not cooling. The new control board took over a month to come in. Two weeks after the control board was replaced, the unit stopped cooling. This time, it's the compressor. Word of caution, if you choose to proceed with purchase, be prepared to buy an extended warranty and have your food spoil a few times. Whirlpool will NOT replace it.

Purchased this refrigerator in September. Immediately noticed a ridiculously loud buzzing noise, which I traced to the compressor on the back of the fridge. Spoke with Geek Squad, who referred me to Kitchenaide / Whirlpool support. A technician looked came out, ran diagnostics, and told me this was normal behavior due to a new oilless compressor design. After about 8 phone calls and a store visit, I was able to exchange for a new one. After reading other reviews, I was afraid the new one would be the same. Yep, it is possibly worse. Can't even stand to be in our kitchen any more. Kitchenaide should be ashamed to release such a product under their name, especially at this price. Now need to decide whether to go through another exchange (for a different brand) or live with this annoying, buzzing machine. Noise aside, the refrigerator looks nice and functions well.

If I could give this prosaic no stars I would. We bought this fridge less than a year ago. After 3 month of owning the fridge, the fridge started making a very loud noise and eventually stoped cooling for days. We contacted the customer service the offered to give us 50 dollars as an apology and told us to use it a grocery credit, instead of offering is a solution or fixing it. Even though the product is in manufactural warranty the company offer is nothing to help back up or fix a less than a year old fridge. After numerous customer service phone calls we were able to reach a manger who sent out someone to lol at the fridge to see what is the problem. They found out that they need to replace a part that is not available and they don’t know when will this part arrive. Now it has been 4 month and our fridge is still not working and the company doesn’t have an estimate on when will the part arrive. We are very very frustrated and can not believe how bad the companies costumer service is and how a brand new 4 thousand dollar fridge can have such loud nice and poor cooling ability and a customer service Ethan doesn’t fix, replace, or have any sort of solution to back their product.

VERY FRUSTRATING experience with this refrigerator. I will preface this with the fact that I absolutely love the layout of this unit. It is my pride and glory of the kitchen. I am a social media influencer and constantly hear about how beautiful and functional this refrigerator is for family-friendly meal prep and snacking. And it absolutely is. IF it worked properly. With that said--we invested in a very expensive refrigerator that has MAJOR issues with very unsatisfying resolutions thus far. From the start, the ice maker would never make more than one batch of ice at a time--no matter what we tried. Within 6 weeks of purchasing this unit, the back compartment froze up and it began making a loud buzzing sound and stopped cooling properly. It would bring the internal temperature to about 55 degrees only. We lost all of the food in our refrigerator and went through several rounds of lengthy wait-time phone calls, receipt transmissions and appointments. It took literally 3 MONTHS for the part to come in and the refrigerator to be fixed. I am a very patient person, but continued calls weekly grew more and more frustrating. Our hands were tied. No one could give us a better response. After repair (in excess of $700 but was covered by warranty), the refrigerator and ice machine then worked from October through May. Then the ice machine stopped producing...and now--THE SAME ISSUE is happening again within the refrigerator. We have exactly 20 days until the end of our 1 year warranty. All that can be done as per the customer service line is for a technician to again be sent out. We have again lost all the food, and I am very fearful for the longevity of such an expensive purchase. I should not spend $4000 on a refrigerator, only to have to buy a "back-up" one because of how unreliable it is. Take it from this person who never writes bad reviews and absolutely fell in love with this refrigerator....this one is way to "iffy" and may cause more heartache than it's worth.

To be fair, the comments about the beauty of the fridge and the functionality for a counter depth size are spot on. This may be the best looking refrigerator I have seen. That being said it is complete trash. After 60 days the fridge began making an extremely loud buzzing noise. Some have called the fridge noisy, but I actually found it very quite before it started to sound like a weed eater. It is NOT a normal sound for any refrigerator. It is so loud you dread the thought of opening it and even with doors closed we hated to be in the same room which is problematic for an open floor plan. We returned it, BestBuy was understanding and suggested it was likely a lemon and this model was the best KitchenAid had to offer. So we agree to try a replacement, new one came and it would not get cold nor make ice after days. We threw away a lot food. With all the other negative reviews about the refrigerator failing outside of warranty and lengthily repair times it was not a risk I was willing to take. So we gave up and returned it for another Brand. Our geek squad delivery guy also said he has picked up so many of this model as a return for the same reasons. A real shame because if this unit simply performed the most basic functions of a refrigerator well, this would be as good as it gets.

At his point, I just want my money back. Bought this model 4 months ago. Initially, it arrived with a huge dent in the front door. We sent it back and Best Buy replaced it with a new one about a week later. With that one, the water dispenser didn't work at all. So we sent that back and Best Buy replaced it with another new one. That one worked for 3 months. Then it didn't cool at all. Had to call Whirlpool to schedule a technician to service it. Had to wait 2 WEEKS before someone could come out. Once he got here, he found that TWO of the fittings were not installed so it had been leaking coolant ever since we plugged it in. He "fixed" it. Added coolant. But that didn't fix it. Fridge still wasn't cooling at all. Called Whirlpool again the next day for them to schedule service to come back. Had to wait ANOTHER WEEK for him. Turns out the compressor wasn't working at all. Whirlpool had to order that part. Waited 10 days for it to arrive... and another week for the technician to be scheduled. He installed the compressor a couple days ago. Fridge is cooling. But the FREEZER ISN'T AT ALL. So frustrating. I cannot recommend this model. Tech guy had told us this is the 2nd fridge of this exact model he's had to service for the same issues. I just want my money back so we can purchase another brand. We have gone over a month without a refrigerator and using our small beer fridge to tide us over.

This is not a reflection on Best Buy, only KitchenAid. We have used their products for years and had been very happy. For a new home we built we again chose KitchenAid products for the kitchen and bar areas. Their stainless steel is such poor quality that you will almost immediately see the surface start to breakdown and rust. It has happened particularly badly on the dishwasher and refrigerators. We have had the fronts replaced and it happened again, only now the short initial warranty period has passed. So we will have to live with rust spots on them. They are using something that they call "stainless steel" but it certainly is not.

Thank you for your review Hiker. Chromium in stainless helps form an invisible layer on the surface that prevents moisture from reaching the iron, in stainless steel. If this layer is breached or degraded to the point where moisture reaches the underlying steel, rust will occur. We recomend using stainless steel cleaner and ensuring your refrigerator and dishwasher are not being scratched on the surface. This will cause your appliances to rust.
