Lenny Marcus's music has a jazz sound that is unique, a mixture of Vince Guaraldi meets early Keith Jarrett and McCoy Tyner, interweaving meditative, melodic compositions with high energy contemporary jazz. Winter's Spring features some of Marcus' finest jazz compositions, brought to life by stellar jazz musicians performing at their best! This album is contemporary instrumental jazz, with one vocal, 'Louisiana 1927' by Randy Newman, and a cool rendition of Vince Guaraldi's 'Peppermint Patty' from the Charlie Brown series. Three different excellent bassists, both upright and electric, take turns performing with the band. Tom Artwick's beautiful flute jazz lines and lyrical saxophone add wonderfully to Marcus' playful, meditative, to sometimes driving and intense jazz piano style.
