Back in November, our 15-year-old microwave finally died. We searched for a replacement at all the big box stores, and as usual, BestBuy had the deal we were looking for. This LG model is fantastic—it’s like getting a brand-new microwave with all the latest features. As a bonus, we now have a second oven thanks to the convection feature, plus a built-in air fryer. All of this comes without sacrificing any countertop space, which is a huge plus in our small kitchen. All of the functions work well. The only downside is that the microwave is rated at 973W, whereas our old one was 1100W. As a result, some things take a little longer than we were used to. For example, our microwave egg boiler used to make perfect hard-boiled eggs in 11 minutes; now it takes about 12 and a half minutes.

Sleek and beautiful microwave. Has great options to cook in different ways. My only complaint is that when the door is all one with no handle, it takes up more space when someone has the door open and other people are in the kitchen.

This is a beautiful microwave and really looks nice with my black stainless lg refrigerator. I also love how the light gradually brightens up when you turn it on. I haven’t tried the air fryer yet but that’s another plus for this beautiful microwave. The heating power isn’t as strong as my old GE microwave. It takes longer to heat food up. I would still recommend this microwave as long as you don’t mind that heating up food takes longer.

Great condition for an open box item only thing is that it doesn’t have the hanging brackets and directions. Really do like the features, we saved over two hundred bucks . Win win.

I love this multi functional microwave. I have a wall on the right side and it only leaves a small space to open the door, I wish it had a handle. If it had a handle I would have given it 5 stars.

CAUTION: IF YOU MOUNT IT FLUSH AGAINST A WALL ON THE LEFT you will need to cut the wall for the door to open. See the picture. The installation instructions and the specifications on the site and in the documentation do NOT mention that THE DOOR HINGE SWINGS OUT TO THE LEFT 1 and 5/8 inches when it opens. That's quite an oversight and required that I pay a handyman a few hundred dollars just to use this oven. Also, another odd thing, since it has a turntable, as do all microwaves, and it is only about 14 inches deep, then even though the oven is 21 inches wide, anything wider than 14 inches will not fit since it will hit the front/back when it rotates. Oh, you say what about convection, well the turntable revolves for that as well. So what is the point of making it so wide? I might try (again) removing the glass turntable and using a flat raised rack for convection but it says not to remove the turntable, and I think is won't bake evenly without rotation. It's a nice unit, but as an older person, I do not appreciate the over-featurization which I do not value over simplicity, reliability, and quality.

Have only had it a short time but found it easy to use, but still lots to learn - would be nice if the buttons lit up at night.

Overall I am very pleased with this combination microwave and convection oven, with venting. Pros: - Microwave works great - Convection works well, but is a bit slow to come up to temperature - I have not used the air fry yet, but the fact that the air fry is effectively just using the convection on its highest temp setting if 550, I am betting it will be a bit lackluster in use given how long it tends to take for the convection oven to warm up to lower temps in my uses thus far. - Range venting works very well. It moves a lot of air and is not excessively loud. - interior size is generous given its multiple functions. It is larger in every dimension inside compared to the over-range Frigidaire microwave-only it replaced. - The fit and finish seem good. - install was reasonable/as expected. The templates were pretty useless though, and I just took measurements. It would have been nice if measurements had been provided rather than requiring me to measure either the template or the microwave…or both…as references… Cons: - The observation window is poorly sized and positioned. Because of the controls being spanned across the bottom of the door, the observation window is very short and sits quite high. So much that, in as standard over- range installed position, it is impossible for a person of short-to-average height to see inside. I am very tall so it isn’t an issue for me, but neither my wife nor daughter can see their food cooking inside the microwave. - The screen is abysmally tiny, requiring excessive scrolling if options when attempting to use any presets. It would be nice if they would have out in a somewhat more modern screen that could hold more than a single row of but a handful of characters at a time. - like our old microwave, this microwave finds it necessary to incessantly play the chime sounds at the end of a cooking cycle or a timer cycle (with short breaks between) until I hit the end button. Also, the end button for the timer and the oven are different. This is both good and bad. It certainly avoids accidentally ending the cooking cycle when stopping a timer, but it is also very easy to accidentally think you have ended the timer after you press the normal end button, only to have it start chiming again 30 seconds later … - while the fit and finish and overall construction seem good, I did notice that the enormously long door has a bit of a sag whenever it is open. From the moment is is unlatched from the microwave, it sags about 1/8” throughout its swing arc. - speaking of the long door, again, because of the design aesthetic with the controls in the bottom of a full-width monolithic door, the door tends to be more likely to get in the way when opening and closing the microwave; the right side that covers where the controls would traditionally be on most microwaves represents an extra 6-8 inches of door length, which translates to a much larger swing radius. Thats a lot of things in the cons section. Even so, I don’t regret this purchase. I do think it’s a bit pricey, and quite frankly, there are not a lot of options in the market for an above-the-range convection microwave, so my hand was a bit forced here. I would have preferred a variable intensity microwave, and would have forgone my desire for a convection-capable unit if it were available, but alas, I couldn’t find one of those with an over-range install configuration. So, given the choices available in the market today, this fit the need, and the cons were definitely outweighed by the pros for us, so overall we are happy with the purchase and expect to be using this appliance for many years to come.

My old GE Profile finally bit the dust after 15 years. As I was shopping for a new OTR microwave, I had narrowed it down to this model or another GE. When I compared the features side by side, the LG gave me a little more bang for my buck. Also, it was on sale, which made it a great value for the money. The unit was installed last week, and I am still getting used to it. However, I do have two negative comments. The first one is that I wished it came in black versus stainless steel black. Although the stainless steel black looks really nice, it is just a black film over the stainless steel. Therefore, one has to be very careful when cleaning. Two, the air fryer function. This is one of the main reasons I chose this model. However, I have found out that you can not set the air fryer for a particular temperature and time; you can only use one of the nine preset options. I did find a way to air fry my corn on the cob, but it was strictly by guesswork. I wish there were more information on how to use the air fryer for things other than the presets. On a positive note, I used the convection oven and made biscuits; they turned out great. Also, the light over the stove and the vent fan are fantastic. I look forward to using it more and more.

Looks good, overall easy to hang but very heavy. The performance of the microwave is very good however the air fryer is not up to par with separate air fryer products.

Same frame as the GE Convection Microwave it replaced using the same/similar mounting bracket which made installation easier especially since it was lagged into a brick wall and the old more robust bracket was compatible. Same basic pallet of controls and features as the older GE version with the omission of the rotary knob which made it easier to add or subtract a time from the running cycle in finer increments than 30 seconds. LED Lighting is brighter and makes it easier to see the contents inside while its running. Fan and vent system is similar though it has fewer speed options. Air Fry options are of limited value since they are crippled to just a few preset options or to those that match a limited number of compatible packaged items with labels that can be scanned with the smart phone application but no way to manually set times, etc. Large door with controls built into it is OK however now that I've lived with it just makes the door a cumbersome intruder into the kitchen requiring you to step back and give it more room to swing when you open it. Nice was that the turntable, pans, convection racks and filters from the 15 year old GE it replaced are identical matches and give me spares to use while the others are being cleaned after a spill, etc. Not nice was the lower power level and crippled air fry interface. Bottom line is its a Good but not Excellent replacement for the 15 year old GE it replaced.

So far I am loving this. I have not cooked a lot of stuff yet. I did use the air fryer function for egg rolls, and it worked extremely well. Very nice-looking appliance. A bit louder than my last LG Convection Microwave, but I am getting used to it. I wish the vent function was stronger. My last LG really pulled air when I was cooking on the range. This one builds up a lot of condensation on the appliance due to the lack of the air being pulled. I do like that there is no handle, and instead has a side slot to open the door. No handle to get dirty. So far, so good, and would recommend to others. Regarding LG Products: In 2016 I replaced all appliances with top-of-the-line LG products. Nothing lasted. 2 fridge replacements, 6 repairs on the fridge, and had to buy a new one just recently. Dishwasher needed repair right after warranty period ended. Flat top glass range with double ovens, 3 replacements. Hope this lasts longer than my last LG Convection Microwave. My last one was bigger, had more features, and was extremely expensive. The first time I used the convection feature, the inside glowed red. Turns out the fan/motor needed to be replaced. Did not buy at Best Buy, and it was just out of warranty by the first time I used the convection feature. Only bought this item because I want to keep all my appliances one brand, and I have been staring into my old LG with the burnt insides for 6 years since the microwave still worked great. Hope this one item has been improved on, and will last longer than the others without needing repair right after the warranty is up.

This is a pretty cool replacement for our old microwave. It looks really sharp. We wanted it all: convection/microwave/air fryer and we got it all in this unit. We have had no problems with the unit mechanically. The only reason I did not give this five stars is that the learning curve to figure this thing out is more than expected, at least for me.

We love how it works. The convection and air fry features are great and it's very attractive. The biggest problem is that all the buttons are not backlit, so they're very hard to see. We've had to keep a little flashlight handy to make it work for us.

I'm writing this review having not been able to fully use this microwave after purchasing it with an LG dishwasher and range. The key reason we went with this microwave over others is that it offers an air fry function. How well this works -- I have no idea! I'll get to that in a moment. The microwave offers many features. In the few moments I've used it to heat things, it's done an excellent job! Until it shut off. Now, I want to note that this review may not be representative of most use cases. Upon delivery, one corner of the box appeared to be completely caved in with pieces of cardboard missing. Honestly, it looked like the box had fallen off a truck. I asked to inspect the microwave before signing for the delivery. Upon inspection, it appeared that the microwave was undamaged, so I installed it thinking everything would be just fine. The issue is that the microwave will intermittently shut off. In addition, it'll randomly modulate the controls on the touch panel -- so for instance, during a heating cycle, it will randomly turn the lights on, or turn the fans on, and/or it will fully shut off and power itself back on. In a nutshell, this is not functioning properly. My sales consultant at Best Buy (who was fantastic) arranged for a replacement for this microwave with the same model number, as he suspected something was damaged within the door, the touch panel, and/or a control board, likely as a result of a likely impact that damaged the box. The replacement was ordered in mid-December. The estimated delivery is late January, but given how the supply chain is these days, I'm not holding my breath. That's not Best Buy's fault, and I don't really think it's LG's fault either. Just the nature of things these days. The reason I opted for a swap rather than a repair is because you do not know what else might have been damaged in this unit, and as something that I'd like to not have to replace in two years, I felt it was smartest to do a swap. If you buy this microwave and it works, awesome! I hope that's the case with people who buy this microwave, and I'm excited to get a working unit at some point in the future. That said, I'd still recommend this. It's not fair to say this is a bad microwave when clearly it's not working because someone dropped it in the box. On features alone, this seems like a great product at a great price. For what it's worth, the lights seem to provide adequate lighting, and the fans do a good job of evacuating air above the stove. As noted above, when I was able to actually heat stuff in this microwave, the heating was thorough with no surprises. The included accessories also allow you various cooking options for air frying or convection baking. I didn't use these due to my issues, but the inclusion of the accessories was a nice touch and likely would have allowed me to make various items in here without having to piece together my own pans/racks.

I updated all my kitchen appliances with LG and couldn't be happier. The microwave performs well, has many features like air frying, steaming, etc. My only criticism is the lack of light on the control panel. Unless you gave a bright kitchen light, it's hard to see the panel. They should have added a backlight.
