Q: Is there an easily removable food strainer or does it have to be unscrewed?
A: Remove the lower rack and position the bottom spray arm so a wider vee is open to the front. Turn the inner filter counter-clockwise and take out the assembled inner filter and stainless steel filter. With the filters removed, check the sump opening and remove any foreign materials, if needed. Clean the filters with a soft brush under running water. Reassemble the filters before reinstalling them. To replace the assembled filters, position the spray arm so the wider vee is toward the front. Fit the filters back into the filter holder and secure them by turning the inner filter clockwise until it clicks into place. ^Daphane
Q: Can this model LDN4542W be hard wired to the electrical source, instead of using a power cord ?
A: This unit requires hard wiring. ^Daphane
A: This LG dishwasher comes with a black metal kickplate held in place with two screws.
A: I can't speak to the other model you're comparing it to but if you use Rinse Aid and set the machine for the Extra Dry cycle AND load it properly so that water collectable basins on your dishes face down as much as possible the machine seems to do well, No machine has ever been perfect and plastic is a problem for all dishwashers as are oddly shaped dishes that allow water pools in multiple places. Unload at the bottom first so the upper rack doesn't splash to the bottom and just try not to overload the machine and I think it will be fine. What towel drying I have had to do hasn't bothered me so far.
Q: Does this have a hard food disposal?
A: No, this unit does not have a hard food disposal. The dishwasher can be connected via the drain hose to the garbage disposal. ^Daphane
Q: Where are the water spray arms located?
A: The water spray arms are below the upper rack (not the 3rd utensil rack at very top) and also below the lower rack. Thanks!
Q: Does this dishwasher have WiFi capability to connect to ThinkQ app and remote start option ?
A: So what does “smart” mean in this model’s description?
A: Great question! For your reference the NSF certification, the steam model dishwashers the NSF is tested during the steam function, for non-steam models the NSF is tested during the high temp cycle. If the high temp option is added to the cycle, the indicator light will stay lit while the temperature get to 150 degrees and the dishes are properly sanitized. ^Jennifer

I’ve been using the LG 24" Front Control Built-In Stainless Steel Tub Dishwasher for a few months now, and I have to say, it’s been a game changer in my kitchen! The sleek stainless steel finish looks fantastic, and the front control panel is super easy to use. I love how the QuadWash technology gets my dishes sparkling clean without all the noise—it's so quiet at 48dBA that I barely notice it’s running. The extra third rack is a lifesaver for fitting in all my utensils, and the flexible loading options make it really easy to organize everything. While I’ve noticed that some dishes come out a bit damp, it’s still been an excellent choice for keeping my kitchen running smoothly!

I have had this wonderful dishwasher for almost 4 weeks, and I could not be more satisfied. It appears to be well made, so I anticipate being extremely satisfied. Some interesting details: it is very quiet—not silent, but quiet enough that it’s not annoying even when I’m in the kitchen. It’s very efficient and cleans even baked on food—with a caveat: the instructions MUST be followed! I usually use it’s “automatic” cycle, which sets its functions to do it’s thing in the best way. But that doesn’t work on baked on food. The instructions have the solution! They recommend doing a rinse cycle after putting the baked on dishes in the washer. It’s only 12 minutes, without soap, and there’s no drying—everything stays damp literally all day if that’s done in the morning before doing a normal “automatic” wash cycle. And then, presto, everything comes out clean as a whistle. Wow! So believe the instructions. The instructions also insist that a liquid rinse aid MUST be used. And that’s also true, because the drying cycle is different from every other dishwasher. There is no heating element, only a fan and time. So I run the “automatic” cycle at night before going to bed, and I set “overnight dry”, which is a form of extra dry. In the morning, the dishes are spotlessly clean, and they are completely dry. Wow! Besides the “rinse” and “automatic” settings, I have used the “heavy” setting once, to wash the grids from my gas range. Wow again! They came out absolutely clean. Incidentally, I installed the dishwasher myself. The installation instructions are clear and easy to follow. The only difficulty I had was that the old dishwasher had been installed with truly cobbled plumbing, which I had to remove before doing it right. I’m not a plumber, so that took some effort. Also, because there’s not a lot of room under the dishwasher because of its large cavity, I’m glad I have small fingers to connect the plumbing and electricity. Lastly, I have to complement the guys who brought it. Just like every other appliance I have purchased from Best Buy, it was delivered early—scheduled for 2 to 6, and delivered shortly after noon, and they brought it in carefully. Great service!

We mainly replaced our old dishwasher because it was dated and white colored. I was a little apprehensive because our old one wasn't broken, cleaned and dried dishes well. But as we gradually have remodeled our kitchen, it definitely looked old and out of place. After seeing the LG discounted to $629.99 we decided it was time to upgrade. After using it for 2 weeks, we love the way it looks and actually prefer the looks over many more expensive units and even Bosch brands. It cleans dishes well, although takes a bit more time than out older unit but is extremely quiet! I couldn't believe how quiet it was and thought it wasn't operating. After years of becoming accustomed our loud dishwasher it's a nice relief to have this unit. We also really like having the third rack for knives and other utensils. The main drawbacks of this unit is that the normal wash time is about 2 -1/2 hours, our old unit would be done in under 2 hours. The additional time isn't the main frustration, it's the fact after that time not all the dishes are completely dry, there would still be a few drips here and there. The unit does have an extra dry option which will stretch the time to 2 -3/4 hours but it still isn't completely dry which is just annoying. I believe the heating element isn't as good as my old unit as the plates would be quite warm from the old unit compared the LG. I don't overload the LG unit so there should be ample room to dry dishes and utensils. In the end, we just have to get a extra cloth to wipe off the few drips of water here and there but definitely wished it was completely dry like our old unit. But I'm sure this unit likely uses less water and energy compared to our old 20 year unit.
