I like LG but this refrigerator wish I would have never bought. You can't put a gallon pitcher in there. Without lifting up the other shelf to get it in there or out. If you have kids the pitcher is full, then it's getting spilt all over the refrigerator because they have to lift up the other shelf to get it out. Or unless you take the shelf completely out, because there's not enough room to move shelves around to fit anything in there. You can't put it on the side of the door because you can't fill the picture up because you have to put in there sideways. Also would not recommend using best buys delivery. They want to charge you extra to put the door handles on and my door to this day still slams when you shut it because they did nothing. Besides, bringing in and drop it off and charge me $59. If I could take it back, I would. Lowe's will deliver it for free and we'll move your other refrigerator for free. For now on I will be buying my appliances from Lowe's.

Hi, there. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG Refrigerator (LRFS28XBS) model. We appreciate the details you’ve provided about the shelf spacing and delivery setup. One helpful step is to adjust the cantilever shelves—they’re designed to be repositioned to create more vertical space for taller items like gallon pitchers. You can also use the door bins for large containers once the shelves are adjusted, which helps avoid spills. For more help, visit https://www.lg.com/us/support/video-tutorials/shelf-adjustment-and-removal-refrigerator-CT10000021-20150262918546. For the door closing issue, check that the refrigerator is leveled properly using the front leveling legs, as an uneven setup can cause the doors to slam instead of closing smoothly. You can find more guidance here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-LRFS28XBS.ASTCNA1. Please send us an email at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com if you need further assistance. ^Juvy

The water STILL tastes like plastic. After draining gallons and gallons out. Changed the filter from the brand new one and no change… the fridge itself is great. Tons of storage and spacious.

Hi, Megan. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG Refrigerator (LRFS28XBS) model. It’s great to hear you’re enjoying the spacious design, and we appreciate the details about the water taste issue. One helpful step is to check the water supply line material—plastic tubing can sometimes cause a lingering taste. Replacing it with a food‑grade stainless steel braided line often resolves this. In addition, be sure to flush at least 2–3 gallons of water after installing a new LG Genuine filter to clear the reservoir and lines. The problems with the refrigerator started from the very beginning. The Best Buy delivery guys were the best. Professional, knowledgeable and the installation process was a breeze. When I purchased the refrigerator I was told it has a dual ice maker. It isn't, but that was the least of the problems. 2 hours after the installation, the freezer is at 0 but the refrigerator is not getting cold. I hear the compressor running, it's blowing cool air, not cold. I wait 2 more hours and it is still not cold, so I call LG customer service and end up somewhere in Asia. I can barely understand the representative and she appears to have a hard time understanding me. She says it takes 24-48 hours for the ice maker to start making ice. I knew that from reading the owner's manual and again I tell her I'm calling about the refrigerator not getting cold. She says it can take 24-48 hours for it to reach proper temperature. She suggests I take all the food out and wait 48 hours What?? Never heard of such a thing. This particular model does not tell you what the inside temperature is so I purchase a thermometer and now 8 hours after the install it is at 50 degrees. The next morning I get up and there is a fault code. IF E and the refrigerator is at 30 degrees even though I have it set at 37. The compressor is constantly running I call customer service. Same communication problem. It is Tuesday and we are leaving to go on vacation on Thursday. The representative says they will send a repairman on Friday. I explain to her that I am leaving on Thursday and I need a repairman on Wednesday. She says it's impossible. I ask to speak to a supervisor. She puts me on hold and after 10 minutes she said someone will call me back within 24 hours. No one ever called. The next day the fault code is gone and it's making ice. We go on vacation On Friday a big box from LG is delivered to the house. I have a neighbor pick it up. On Monday a repairman arrives. I tell him from my ring doorbell we are not home and was never informed anyone was coming. When we return from vacation, I open the box and it is a whole new ice maker door panel. Clearly LG is aware of this problem, why else would they just send a new replacement part before a repairman even takes a look at it. Now it's making a funny noise. I'm done. It has to go. I go to Best Buy, explain what happened and immediately I'm told to pick another model, which I do. A whirlpool. LG makes great TVs, but they do have issues with their refrigerators. LG customer service was the worse. Best Buy's service was the Best. If I had bought it somewhere else, and they wouldn't take it back, i am positive it would just be one problem after another.

Hi there, Agee. Thank you for sharing your experience with your LG refrigerator, Model LRFS28XBS. We understand your inquiry regarding the challenges you've faced with your unit, including the cooling performance and the 'IF E' error code.
Regarding the 'IF E' error code, which often indicates an issue with the refrigerator's ice maker fan due to frost buildup, we recommend performing a manual defrost. To do this, unplug the unit and remove all food and ice from the ice bin. Leave the doors open and wait at least 8 hours for the refrigerator to defrost, using towels to soak up any excess water. After 8 hours, use a dry towel to remove any remaining moisture before plugging the unit back in. It can take 24-48 hours for the refrigerator to return to normal operation.

Ice and water in the door are a very poor design. Impossible to dispense water into a glass as the outlet is too close to the switch, water goes everywhere. Ice dispenser is “sloppy”. Ice goes into the glass as well as on the floor. Main drawer in the fridge goes the entire width so you must open both doors to use it. The door on the ice maker side won’t stay open and will close into you knocking whatever you are holding almost out of your hands. Overall the machine works fine. Very disappointed in the functionality though.

Hi, Bruce. Thank you for reaching out about your LG Refrigerator (LRFS28XBS) model. We understand how important ease of use and functionality are in everyday kitchen routines. One helpful step to improve water dispensing is to angle the glass slightly and place it closer to the outlet before pressing the switch, which can reduce splashing. For the ice dispenser, running the Ice Plus feature can help produce more uniform cubes, making dispensing smoother. You can find more guidance on dispenser use and drawer operation here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-LRFS28XBS.ASTCNA1. The overall function of the refrigerator is good, but the ice machine constantly jams (ice gets stuck and you have to manually empty the ice machine). Also, Best Buy used a third party vendor for delivery and installation of the refridgerator. During installation, my hard wood floors were scratched. After repeated efforts, I have been unsuccessful in receiving reimbursement for the claim for damages. I have reported this issue to Best Buy on at least 5 occasions, and they will not help. This is very frustrating.

Hi, Jon. Thank you for reaching out about your LG Refrigerator (LRFS28XBS) model. We understand the importance of having an ice maker that works smoothly and a delivery experience that protects your home.
One step you can try for the ice‑jamming issue is removing the ice bin, emptying any clumped ice, and letting the bin dry completely before reinstalling it. This helps prevent pieces from sticking together and blocking the dispenser. For more guidance, visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoEaGguBfew. I'm very happy with my purchase of the LG - 27.7 Cu. Ft. French Door Smart Refrigerator with External Ice and Water. HOWEVER, I am VERY disappointed with the installation! I was told at the time of purchase that it came with full installation. When it arrived, the technicians set it up, but were inadequately prepared to attach the water supply for the ice and water dispenser. First, the hose they brought was too short to connect to the water pipe in my basement - which, in actuality, was only about 4 feet away through a hole in the floor. Second, they tried to splice the new hose into an old connection hose that hadn't been used in 10 years. Not surprisingly, it didn't work. They told me I would need to call in a plumber to do the hook up. This was NOT the "full installation" I was promised! I don't believe I should be responsible to hire a plumber, at my own expense! I should have been told AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE that a plumber (and subsequent expense) would be MY responsibility. I tried calling Best Buy Customer Service, and was told that they would NOT be sending someone to complete the installation, and that I should call a plumber. I responded with the above comments, and they said they would talk to a manager who would get back to me at a later time. THEY DID NOT. I believe the promise of "full installation" is fraudulent. As soon as I am able, I'm going to go to the place of purchase to register an official complaint and see if they're willing to rectify the problem. I am not hopeful.

Hi, there. Thank you for reaching out. We understand the importance of having your LG Refrigerator (LRFS28XBS) model ice maker work smoothly. One helpful step you can try is checking the freezer temperature setting. If the compartment is set too low, ice can fuse and cause the ice maker to cavitate or jam. Adjusting the freezer to around 0°F and giving the ice bin a few hours to cycle can help reduce clumping. Terrible experience. My brand-new refrigerator from Best Buy arrived with a dent, and the delivery team said customer service would make it right. I was told I’d receive a $150 gift card as compensation — but weeks later, nothing. I’ve called several times, and all I get are excuses and no follow-up. It’s ridiculous that I have to chase down a company this big just to get what they promised. Between the damaged product and the lack of accountability, I’m completely done with Best Buy for appliances.

Bought this fridge in June 2023 along with a 5 year Geek squad warranty. In June 2024 my ice maker stopped working and was getting IF E erorrs on the display. Geek squad came out and determined the cooling fan needed to be replaced. They came back out a week later to fix. Then in Late September my fridge stopped cooling (52 degrees) and tons of food spoilage. Sears had to come out for 3 attempts at repairs. In the end they believed they needed to replace the compressor fan however the first part they ordered didn’t work as expected. The second time they came out they said they were going to order a few different parts and the appt wasn’t for another 3 weeks. Come to find out they never ordered the parts. I called Best Buy and after some research and investigation they provided the best customer service and approved an exchange. So while I will never buy an LG fridge again, I highly recommend the the geek squad protection plans as it covers food spoilage and repair costs and depending on the circumstance, an exchange. Also a big shout out to Best Buy customer service for providing an excellent customer experience. It is because of their service I keep buying from Best Buy.

Hi, Ricardo. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG Refrigerator (LRFS28XBS) model. We understand how important it is to have the ice maker working properly, and we appreciate you letting us know about the issue so soon after purchase.
For this model, one helpful step is to reset the ice maker. You can do this by turning the ice maker off using the control panel, waiting about 30 seconds, and then turning it back on. Also, check that the water supply line is fully connected and the valve is open, as restricted water flow can prevent ice production. You can review more guidance here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-refrigerator-why-is-my-refrigerator-not-making-ice--1400773605181. I bought this out of box. Never again. I could get it delivered faster but it would take two days, one to deliver, one to hook up or I could wait longer to get it all in one day. It's a refrigerator, it had to be done all in one day. The wrong handles were sent, it's taken me an additional almost 4 weeks after delivery to get that rectified. I've been given misinformation nearly every time I called. It's been an extremely frustrating process.
