This is my 2nd LG window A/C and I have yet to be disappointed. My previous one was the same model but a generation older (LW8017ERSM) which I bought over 5 years ago and is still pumping out nice cold air. I wanted to get another unit for a different room in my house so I bought this one which is essentially just an upgraded model (LW8018ERSM1). I live in Florida and have my central air in for the house set to 68 and it does a fairly good job at maintaining that. However, two of my spare bedrooms I turned into offices/gaming rooms, with multiple monitors, stereo systems, consoles, TVs, a projector, and 2 PCs that are absolute powerhouses, and with all of that, so much heat is produced that the room would get upwards of 95 degrees. It was like a wall going through the doorway to enter the room, with nice cold air on one side and an oven on the other. That is when I invested in my first unit back in 2020. I got this new unit because I let a friend move in and turned another room into a 2nd office like this, and we ran into the same issue. We only use the units when we are in the room using our electronics generating heat, and with each unit set to 60 (the lowest it will go) it will maintain an average of 68 degrees in the room, 66ish on a good day, matching the rest of the house. This new unit is considerably quieter than the old one. You can still hear the fan blowing the air, which is unavoidable even with the super quiet dual inverter units, but I can barely hear the compressor running. My old one I could tell whenever the compressor was on or not if it had reached temp and was just blowing air, but this new one I genuinely can't tell a difference in noise. The app works great and is the only way I control it, as I have it installed behind plantation shutters and trying to reach the buttons with my hand is challenging. The remote works fine, but there is more functionality with the app, like telling me the current room temperature and the status of the filter and the percentage left until it needs to be cleaned. The app also tells me the energy consumption and lets me see reports for consumption over different time-frames, which doesn't really matter to me because I already use a crazy amount of electricity, but it's still cool to see. The install was straight forward and was easy peasy, although I prefer using different window slide locks that don't have to be screwed into the frame of my windows. Overall very pleased, would purchase again, and would recommend.

We bought and installed two of these 8000 BTU LG air conditioners in our bedrooms. They were easy to install, they're very quiet (both the fan motors & compressors) and they cool and ventilate well. We were also able to successfully connect the wi-fi app to our smartphone.

This air conditioner efficiently cools the space within 15 minutes, even on an extremely hot day. As the sun spends the majority of the time shining into my apartment, it also does an excellent job of combating the heat that comes from the windows. The app control feature is outstanding. I can turn it on when I leave the grocery store, and the room is nice and cool and comfortable by the time I reach home. Or if I forgot to turn it off, I can easily do so from my phone. Installing on my own did take quite a bit of time and effort as someone who is not regularly active. It took some effort to get it in the window by myself, so make sure you have help if you're not fit. The instructions were clear, but I did have trouble screwing one side of the window flaps, and couldn't get that side quite flat (see picture). The other side was fine, but not sure if this was a product issue or skill issue. Overall, it's a decent deal, but with other air conditioners on the market that offer the same quality and features, it is overpriced in my opinion. $250 would have been more reasonable, but I don't regret using this air conditioner.
