Los Gauchos de Roldán - Button Accordion and Bandoneon Music From Northern Uruguay - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Accordions & guitars have enlivened the social life of cattle-herding gaucho families of northern Uruguay since the mid 1800s. On Los Gauchos de Roldan, regional icon Walter Roldan pumps out time-honored polcas & chotis, Brazilian-tinged maxixas & more on his button accordion as Chichi Vidiella adds rich color of the bandoneon. Bernardo Sanguinetti's guitar & Richardo Cunha's percussive, deep-pitched guitarron immerse the melodies in a nest of rhythms & harmonies, while formerly-exiled singer/songwriter Numa Moraes treats US to 5 gems of his repertoire. 14 trks 55mins, 40-pg bilingual bklt.
