I returned this after I opened it and realized it was NOT a meat thermometer but rather a thermometer for the grill - pretty useless.

I am new to smoking and I was told that this thermometer would really help me out. I cooked the best ribs I've ever eaten thanks to the Maverick. The display is bright making the numbers easy to read ,and it never cut out the whole 6 hrs of smoking. You can set a timer for your smoke session, and you can even set the alert to where it will alarm you if your smoker goes above your set temp. Thank you Best Buy for having this product. It was one of my better purchases.
