Bought this freezer in 2016 , for the first 5 years it worked, not great but worked - when it went out of warranty - problems started . could not control temperature, compressor would run and run and run - cleaned out freezer and found that ice was building up and not defrosting - got that fixed and now the thermostat does not work- keeps setting to the coldest setting and the icer cream is soupy. Found out the cost of having the thermostat fixed was $400+ for the part and labor, will not buy another maytag again- quality is poor

Only lasted 5 years. Started not freezing food... just barely stays cold now takes 3 days to freeze ice. $125 tonhave a tech look at it and diagnose the issue... and the "10yr warranty" only covers the compressor, nothing else, and no labor... this is not the quality i expected. I have a maytag dishwasher which has been very reliable. Save your money here and buy the less expensive freezer and you probably wont sacrifice quality.

Save yourself the headache and avoid Maytag and Whirlpool at all costs. We bought this freezer and loved it at first. Once a year passed, it promptly broke. Maytag/Whirlpool was a nightmare to deal with. They do not value their customers. Just navigating their automated customer service number is like a trip to hell. The freezer was fixed. A year later, it broke again. My food is up and down the street with neighbors while Maytag tries to pretend I don't have a 10-year warranty (which is only on the compressor). Avoid Maytag and Whirlpool at all costs.
