These power cords are the worst! I am writing this review as I am having to buy yet another replacement because this time the cable broke off entirely!!! My laptop was plugged in at the time and the cord sparked and smoked and some sparks went flying. I guess it’s lucky I was nearby at the time and those sparks didn’t catch anything on fire!

I have owned a surface pro laptop for almost three years now and have gone through at least ten chargers. Doesn't matter if you buy the NINETY DOLLAR factory made or $20 Amazon one. They all will break. I love my laptop but if Best Buy would have told me that this charger is $90 and they are KNOWN to break and overheat I never would have gotten it. Even if they do break, Best Buy doesn't care and won't help you and neither does Microsoft. At this point, I have paid so much for chargers I would have had enough to buy a new one - but I can't now :) learn from my mistake and DO NOT BUY THIS OR THE LAPTOP!!!!!!!!!!

Microsoft Surface laptop has the worst charging port design using the worst charging supply interface connector. I had altogether replaced this power supply 5 times (6 including the original charger that comes with the product) within less than 2 years, almost all the power supply did not work more than 4 months. I have lost faith in Microsoft computer products and will not advise anyone to use Surface Pro laptop or tablet due to the poor charging port and unreliable power charger design. I returned the 65W power supply due to Best Buy's poor customer service and not honoring the warranty return/exchange agreement with Microsoft. 4 months ago, I purchased a 127W Microsoft power charger from Best Buy, but the charger stops charging in about 3 months. I took it back to Best Buy and was told to call Microsoft directly for the warranty return. Three times, Microsoft customer service asked me to take the charger back to Best Buy for product return, I also checked Microsoft's accessory return policy on Microsoft's webpage, which clearly stated to bring the defective product under warranty to Best Buy to check and let Best Buy to ship the charger to Microsoft, and replacement would be sent to Best Buy for customer to pickup. I went back to Best Buy, but was refused to handle the warranty return service as stated in the online web page and per Microsoft's customer service request. Best Buy did not honor the after sale product warranty service arrangement with Microsoft, I will no longer purchase any product from Best Buy and I have communicated my experience and warned other potential customers. Altogether, I am not happy with Best Buy and I am not happy with Microsoft warranty customer support and poor product reliability.

This is the third adapter I've had to get for my windows surface. It keeps breaking by wearing down around the piece that connects to the laptop. I really like my surface but these adapters are almost $100 each and its not fun to buy one knowing that the poor design will inevitability require you to replace it. However its still the best option for windows surface.

The overly-priced MS charger kept dying on me in less than a year. I take very good care of my tech as I am passionate about it. I found a much cheaper 3rd party one for just over $20 bucks, and it lasts so much longer and is still holding up. MS really needs to make some much stronger and more durable charging cables. I swear they do this so you have to buy more.

This was an open box item, and was missing the power cord portion of the charger. Other than that its works fine.

I had a knockoff charger for my device that lasted well over a year; this started to fail three weeks after I purchased it. I had to buy a second after less than a month, and only re-purchased because the knockoff charger from another site wouldn't ship for a long time. For the absurdly high price point, this ABSOLUTELY needs to be a better piece of equipment.

I'm not sure how to review this item. It is required to recharge the computer battery, but it is very poorly designed. I purchased the Microsoft Surface Book in May 2016. Since then, this is my 4th power adapter that I had to purchase. They only last about 6 months before they short out and stop working. The last one actually caught fire. But you are between a rock and a hard place. The choice is to buy a new laptop, or replace the charger. As I said, in two years, I am on my 5th adapter - 1 that came the device, and 4 additional to replace faulty chargers!

This cord is almost $100. It is doing exactly what the last cord did. First it intermittently won’t charge and turns itself off. And then it finally just goes dead and won’t charge your computer at all. Ironically the computer works ok but, of course, it won’t work without the charge. I have only had this computer less than 1 year and this is the 2nd cord. And now it’s not working. In less than 1 year I will have spent almost $300 on just computer electric cords. It’s a completely rip off. I will be forced to buy a new computer if this keeps up just because of the electric cord.

Bad concept design. This is my second one that stop working. The second one I ordered online and came damaged. I got hassled a little bit at the store when trying to return but they eventually did and I was able to get a working one. As shame because the computer it goes to is great...the power cord sucks.

It's a proprietary cable that you can't buy 3rd party so Microsoft basically jacked up the price. I've had 2 others break on me in the past and each cost upwards of $80 just for a charger. Also, the magnet charger is bad.

The return policy, even for an unopened device is awful. Don't purchase here

I have had to buy several of these charges within the past few nonths and they are expensive. They do not work after only a few months. Its like something happens to them.

Terrible! I would gladly give zero stars. These work fine until they physically break 1-6 months later. So sick of buying these as they are expensive!

Do yourself a favor a look for another laptop that dose NOT use this charger cable. These are not built to last and seem to break for no reason at all. Taking into consideration that they cost approximately over $100 each I’ve spent close to $400 on replacement cables alone. Could’ve bought a new laptop. These are by far the worst cables around and I will NEVER EVER PURCHASE a Microsoft Laptop again!!

This is the third cord for this Surface. They don't last and I take care of my belongings. I asked a manager for a free cord and he simply looked at me and said no. Third cord. Of note, I have purchased 3 Dyson hand vacs and they don't last either. The only reason I bought this cord at the store is because I had no choice. I never shop at the store anymore which I used to enjoy doing Just saying. Additionally, the another Surface that I purchased worked until 2 months after the warranty expired. I had to pay $500.00 for a refurbished one. That lasted one lasted about two months and stopped. See my point?

After tax, this cord was almost $100... who in their ever loving mind thought that was a brilliant idea??? Not Best Buy’s fault and the cord functions properly, but for that price, I should get a $75 gift card along with it... There’s no insignia brand cords offered for this which is depressing.

The removable power cord of my power block was damaged. Best Buy informed me that the cord could not be purchased separately and that I had to buy a new power block. As I needd my computer immediately, I had no choice but to buy a new block. I later discovered that the poser cord in available on-line for $14.

Microsoft has a problem with its chargers for the Surface Pro. There are two in my household and both of them failed. Because they cost near $100, I only bought one. The Surface Pros are only a little over a year old. And 2 chargers fail???? I had to have a charger, so I paid for them. But while this charger works just fine, Microsoft gets a 1 star review for them.
