My experience comes as a long time MacBook user. I went through my college years using my HP Envy x360 15-inch. I always had a PC and a MacBook. I used my MacBook as my main machine because the battery was so good. However, work requires me to use Windows so I definitely needed something to get the through the day. The time came to replace my HP this year as the battery and processor were aging rapidly. I was in between another HP Envy which got me through so many years and an XPS. I even considered the Samsung Galaxy Book. But when Microsoft launched the Surface Laptop 13-inch in purple, I had to get it. The color is BEAUTIFUL and the design is FLAWLESS. I will say it looks more blue-ish than a purple color. It looks just like my MacBook Air and the battery is just as good. I can easily get through an entire day of work (meetings, Microsoft Suite, data processing) without needing to charge it until the next day. I am loving the Copilot function and have found myself using this very frequently. I am not someone who will be hung up on the 60hz display or the brightness nits. It works just as good for me and I am loving it! I compared it to the 13.8-inch laptop but they don't make a violet one! I am also hoping they make cases for this 13-inch laptop as I cannot find one on Amazon. If Microsoft makes another version of this with better refresh rate and screen quality (OLED, peak brightness nit), I will definitely upgrade. But for now, I am content.

I love the Microsoft surface because it’s easy to use and high end (to me) for a good price! As much as I wanted a Mac it isn’t feasible in my line of work or school! This Surface laptop is small, but mighty!

This computer has been a lifesaver for my college classes! My old computer was so outdated that I was struggling to keep up, especially in my engineering class. This new one handles all the software and demands of the course without a hitch. I can actually do my assignments now without wanting to throw my computer out the window! Definitely worth the investment for any student needing a reliable machine

The touch screen works amazing and so does the mouse pad. The life battery is also a nice feature but if for playing games like the sims 4, it freezes up sometimes.

TLDR: A lightweight, premium feeling laptop that offers impressive battery life. While not the most powerful, it has enough for nearly any day-to-day task. CONNECTIVITY 1 x USB-A 2 x USB-C (Thunderbolt 4 with Display Out) 1 x Headphone KEY SPECS 8C / 8T ARM Processor 16GB RAM 512GB nVME PROS Exceptionally Lightweight Excellent Battery Life Crisp / Clear Display CONS ARM Processor is new, and not all apps supported SSD and RAM are not replaceable Wish it was a 2-in-1 USE The Surface Laptop has plenty of resources to support nearly any day-to-day task. The Snapdragon processor is extremely energy efficient, far better than any Intel or AMD processor I’ve used to date. Snapdragon has done an excellent job at managing power consumption. Microsoft claims up to 16hrs of battery life while web browsing, I’ve reached 14 without much effort. The Surface comes with 16GB of RAM. Plenty for almost any multi-tasking needs. Teams calls, spreadsheets, presentations, even multiple browser tabs open with all the above fail to slow the Surface. The display is crisp and clear. I’ve used other Surface laptops in the past and have always admired their displays. This laptop is no different. The glossy touchscreen does attract fingerprints, but I can’t fault the display’s color and sharpness. Sharper than many other laptops at this size, with this resolution. I didn’t see the pixel density in the specs, but it must be high as you can’t make them out in text or images. CONS The new ARM Snapdragon processors, while energy efficient, are unique. There are still some apps that don’t handle the ARM architecture correctly. Those apps are getting fewer and farther between, but you occasionally run into some. For example, the freeware I used to test the CPU and RAM requires a different installer than an x86 or x84 installer. For the most part, Windows will “sandbox” most software allowing support using an x86 or x64 app to run on an ARM processor. But, like I said, there are still some apps that don’t play correctly with ARM and Windows together. I wouldn’t consider it a deal breaker, but if you have a specific application that absolutely must use, I would definitely check compatibility. The RAM and SSD are not user replaceable. I hate how manufacturers are moving on to this trend. Especially, the SSD. Its one of the most frequently used and/or failure-prone parts in any computer system. The ability to replace this part would be awesome. Not so anymore. Nor can you swap it out if you run out of storage and need to expand. FINAL THOUGHTS The Surface makes a nice day-to-day laptop for all but the most power users. It is lightweight, has a pixel dense screen, and very good fit and finish. Would I buy this if I were a video or photo editor? No. There isn’t enough processing power. However, for nearly 95% or more of the daily tasks, you would be hard to find a better, lighter entry. Not to mention, because it’s a Microsoft branded product, it includes the full Office suite as well. RECOMMENDED

I’ve been using the new Surface Laptop Copilot+ PC for over a week now, and it’s already become my on the go laptop. It’s lightweight, runs quietly, and doesn’t skip a beat whether I’m sending emails, streaming shows, or working in MS Office. When it comes to design Microsoft nailed the look. The Ocean color has a clean, modern vibe without being over-the-top and with a full aluminum body casing. The keyboard is one of the better ones I’ve used, with full backlighting, when typing it's very smooth with a nice bit of travel and has good palm detention when typing. The glass trackpad is very responsive and has a nice click when pressing it. Performance wise, the Surface laptop is built on the new Snapdragon X Plus chip with 8-cores, and it definitely holds its own when it comes to multitasking. I ran a Cinebench R23 Multi Core test bench that came in at 6803 pts and single score at 1011 pts, both are respectable for this laptop. That being said I wouldn't expect it to do any huge power hungry renderings, big 4K video editing on this laptop, or modern graphics intensive video games. Packed in this laptop is also 16 GB of which is plenty for the tasks you will be performing on this laptop and didn't have any issues with using all of it. In terms of what packed in this laptop, I was a tad disappointed that it only had 512 GB SSD, where at this point in 2025 that 1 TB should be standard for any laptop over $500. Whether you’re working across multiple apps or dabbling in some AI-generated art or productivity tools, the Surface feels snappy and responsive. As for the screen, the 13" PixelSense Flow display at 1920x1280 resolution is good. It’s not going to blow your mind if you’re coming from something like an OLED or a high refresh rate ( in 2025 I would like to see 120 Hz as the standard refresh rate), but for general use it’s sharp, bright enough, and has a glossy coat. Having a touch screen is always a nice addition when showing a presentation to some or simply selecting a show or movie on a streaming site. The touch screen is very responsive especially when scrolling. The webcam is acceptable for a laptop coming in at 1080p, which should get the job done for quick video meetings. The star feature of the Surface laptop is the battery life on this laptop, coming in at 23 hours. I’ve gone all day without plugging it in during a full workload at the office. I even stopped throwing the charger in my backpack if I know I'll just be gone for the day. This kind of battery life makes it perfect for on the go and travel. When it comes to ports the Surface went with the minimalist approach, There are 2x USB-C 3.2 ports,1x USB-A, and 1x 3.5mm headphone jack. That being said, I wish there was an HDMI port and a SD card slot. So, you will need to get a USB-C to HDMI cord if you want to use an external monitor, a USB-C port dongle or a docking station if you need to plug in accessories regularly. Pros: Long battery life: all-day usage without worrying Lightweight and quiet, great for travel or working on the go Comfortable keyboard and large, smooth touchpad Clean, stylish design in three color options Snapdragon X Plus chip handles multitasking and AI tools well Fanless, silent performance Touchscreen works well for casual use Cons: No HDMI or SD card slot 60Hz refresh rate feels a little outdated Not meant for gaming or heavy creative workloads RAM is not upgradable . In the end, the Surface Laptop doesn’t try to do everything but what it does, it does really well. It’s a clean, capable laptop built for people who want something reliable, portable. If your day mostly revolves around web apps, Office spreadsheets/ documents, video calls, and light creative work, this is a great pick. The AI tools are a nice bonus, but even without them, it’s just a solid everyday machine.
