The day I discovered that screen extenders were a thing, I spent hours researching brands, then ordered this one that evening. I was surprised that well-known electronics brands don’t manufacture them… it was either the unpronounceable brands on Amazon or Mobile Pixels. Although I was so hesitant to go with it initially since it requires adhering magnets to my laptop. Thankfully, I read a review that suggested using a laptop case, so I ordered a $23 clear one on Amazon that made me feel much better about the magnet attachment. It really was as easy as applying magnets and plugging in! I was very cautious about the magnet placement because I wanted to ensure the extender would clear the edge of my 15.6” laptop screen. While the asymmetry bothers the perfectionist in me, at least I know I can take the laptop case off. What really exceeded my expectations was the quality of the screen and resolution. I upgraded my HP to have high-quality graphics, and the desktop on my laptop matches the screen extender’s image perfectly (seriously, check out the pictures)! The extender is extremely lightweight, so I’m disappointed (and shocked) that my laptop screen had a tough time holding it up if it’s bent back too much. So the only thing the MP models are missing that the no-name brands have is a kickstand for additional support. Overall, this is a fantastic, quality product!

I absolutely love this dual screen. My laptop is bigger than the monitor, but it still does exactly fine! I would have given 5 stars, but I feel that since my laptop is bigger, the screen does not line up properly in the back, so when closed, it sticks out. Does not fit with it in my laptop bag. Maybe I mounted it wrong, but if I had positioned it any other way, the extension would be blocked. Also, the magnets are WAY strong; it is not easy for me to take it off or anything. It is kind of glued.

Pros: The picture quality is good Cons: 1. Between the magnets in the back and the weight of the screen and case pulls the laptop cover back. Angling the extended screen when fully open makes it useable, but it's a fine balance. 2. The USB-A adaptor doesn't work. I see now other people had the same problem. USB-C works fine, fortunately my laptop had a USB-C port. 3. The case holding the extended screen to the laptop is tight. Sliding the screen out is not easy and there is no good place to pull on it so to get it out I had to pinch the screen and wiggle it out. After a couple weeks I saw that LCD was damaged, probably by my having to pinch it to pull it out of the case. 4. Limited protection. Though this was purchased under total tech, the damage to the screen was deemed accidental so it couldn't be replaced. When I tried to get it replaced by Mobilepixels which had a warranty with it they said that the damage looked "caused by an external impact to the screen area". I tried to explain that the damage was from usual and customary use but they only offered to fix it for $130 or replace it for $120 (shipping on me). So I declined and I plan on just getting one on amazon for $110 since it doesn't seem to be covered anyway.

This is exactly what was needed. I’m currently working in an environment in which I may not be in the same space everyday, I need a monitor. This did the trick!!

I introduced my wife to the joys of dual monitor workflows several years ago over her protestations that she didn't need it and received one of the few "I'm sorry, I was wrong and you were right." from her when she realized how much easier it can be. Now that she is more mobile in her job and does not utilize her dual-monitor desk set-up nearly as much, she has been wistfully hoping for a solution to use with her laptop. In walks the Mobile Pixels DUEX Max, and my wife is happy again! The DUEX Max is super easy to set up with a template that you lay on the top of your closed laptop screen and it shows you exactly where to stick the very powerful magnets. When I say these are some powerful magnets, I'm not kidding. They send them to you in a plastic case that keeps them far apart from each other and I HIGHLY recommend you pop them out and place them one at a time and don't be a moron like me and pop them all out at once and have to pry them apart. It turned into a game of 'stump-the-dummy' with me being the dummy and my wife laughing her head off watching me separate two magnets just to have two others snap together. It's almost like there should be some song about the weirdness of magnets done by a band of crazy clowns... Once the magnets are placed, it's just a matter of slapping on the DUEX Max, which surprisingly does not add as much thickness or weight as you might assume. My wife's work computer slid easily into the sleeve in her rolling case and the DUEX Max held tight. When we wanted to test it out and set up her screens it was just a matter of opening up her laptop and connecting the USB-C cable (you also have HDMI to Mini-HDMI but you still need the USB-C for power if you can't utilize the USB-C for both video and power). I was a dummy at first and when I slid out the screen from its frame, the left side of the screen was still hidden behind her main screen. That's when I realized that that is why the magnetic attachment point on the monitor are bars! You slide the whole thing over, including the frame when you want to use it! If I had bothered to open up the instruction prior to this, I would have seen this plainly laid out by the Mobile Pixels team. This was where we ran into our one and only problem with the DUEX Max. Turns out my wife's new laptop that her work just gave her, while nice and sleek, also just barely has room to mount the DUEX Max and you can't fully open the screen beyond 90 degrees with the DUEX Max installed. That's on me. I was working off of the specs for her old laptop and not the one they recently gave her. But no worries! I have the Origami Stand on order and all will be right with the world. The DUEX Max screen is beautiful and bright and we were able to exactly mimic her desk monitor set-up in less than a minute. My wife is thrilled that she will be able to work just as efficiently while visiting all of the offices in her region as she does at her main office. If you need a dual monitor set-up for work or play (and you probably do); don't hesitate to pick up the Mobile Pixels DUEX Max or one of the other Mobile Pixels monitors. You will not be disappointed (if you correctly measure your laptop).

I know numerous people who use multiple monitors daily for both work and personal computing needs. Then they travel and must switch to single screening while travelling or carry a second device and its associated accessories to maintain at least dual screen capabilities. Well now there is an innovative and impressive portable monitor solution for anyone who works or needs access to a multi-screen solution while using a laptop. This could be for personal or business. The DUEX MAX DS from Mobile Pixels is this solution. This solution consists of a 14.1” 1080p IPS FHD display that weighs 1.8lbs (which adds to the weight of your laptop) and can be connected and powered by as little as a single USB-C port. This device is compatible with macOS/ Windows/ Nintendo Switch/ Samsung DEX and has auto-rotation capabilities and an eye-care mode. This monitor also comes with the USB-C Cable (with a USB A adapter), and HDMI cable with a USB-C adapter, 8 nano-adhesive tape circles, and 4 adhesive magnets, the setup guide, an attachment guide, and the “magnets locations template”. The device comes with a 1-year limited parts and labor warranty. Setup is quick and straight forward – you use the “magents locations template” and the setup guide to place 4 magnets on to the back of one’s laptop (14” and larger laptops). The magnets are used by the monitor to mount the monitor to the back of the laptop screen and enable the second screen to be used without the need to have a table for the second monitor. The DUEX MAX DS monitor it then ideally connected and powered via the USB-C able and a USB-C port with DisplayPort ALT mode (DP ALT Mode) on your laptop. If your laptop has USB-C without DP ALT Mode and HDMI, or it only has a USB-A port and an HDMI port, you can use the USB-C cable USB-C cable (with or without the USB-A adapter) to provide power and the included HDMI cable to provide the video. The monitor itself has 4 metallic plates that are sized to connect to the 4 magnets attached to the monitor on laptops between 14” and 16” the magnets are centered on the back of the laptop screen and allow the DUEX MAX DS to be used either on the left or the right. For laptops larger than 16” it is recommended to shift the mounting template to one’s preferred side and use the device on that side. The monitor does have several modes of use. When attached it can be either a right-hand or left-hand landscape monitor or it can be used with the screen folded back 180 degrees in a presentation mode. Unattached it can be used in a portrait mode as well as connected to a Nintendo Switch or an android phone/tablet. Using the device once mounted is straight forward. You connect the cable and pull the monitor out. As it is pulled out, the monitor powers on and starts displaying the screen. For Portrait mode operations you must go into the display settings and set the monitor into portrait mode. For either landscape direction, the built-in accelerometer will rotate the view automatically. Overall, this is a nice portable monitor solution that allows one to add a second screen to any laptop that has a 14 inch or larger screen and gain dual monitor capabilities. The downside is of course having to use the magnets to mount the screen to the monitor and then having to obtain extra magnets should on want to use the device on more than one laptop (say with a personal and a work device). Other than these two easily solved challenges this is a wonderful solution for adding a second screen to a laptop. Overall - 4.5 stars (which rounds up to 5 stars) Pros: Second screen without needing a table, no need for external power, multiple modes of use Cons: Its a bit hefty, Magnet mounting system forces one to buy more magnets for use with multiple laptops.

The Deux max is a product that makes me think that there are great minds out there. Whoever thought of this is a genius imo. So simple yet so functional. If you are a multi-tasker, then this a definite must have for anyone who uses a laptop. When opening the box, you find simple directions with a qr code to go to a site for installation. A template to apply the magnet to the back of your laptop screen and necessary cables to use for the display. The magnets are held on by 3m stickers which the manufacturer added extras in the box. I gotta say though, when the deux pixel is not attached to your laptop, those magnets looks kinda ugly, but that's the price to pay for a great extra display. If you have a 15" screen like I do, I suggest that you place the Deux display on the back 1st and adjust how far out you want to extend the screen before you put the magnet on. I have mine centered and noticed that even with the display fully extended, there is a tiny bit that isn't showing. Not a big deal for me and with the extra magnets, I can readjust it later. The screen itself looks good, I wouldn't say it has super clarity but good enough to watch youtube on. There are buttons on the back to adjust different settings and it even has a g sensor for rotations. Very cool. The magnets itself is strong enough to keep the display from moving when it's on but not so strong as to make it taking the unit on and off your laptop a chore. The only complaints I have is that when the screen is attached, it does add some weight and thickness to the whole thing, but that is to be expected. I will probably carry it around not attached in my backpack until I am ready to use it. Also, took a bit to figure out where the serial number was so I can take advantage of the extra 6 month warranty and finally found it on the box. So don't discard that box until you register your display. I really love this accessory for my laptop and highly recommend anyone who does numerous things at once on your computer. If you like

SYNOPSIS – A good way to improve productivity with minimal fuss. INSTALLATION The Duex add-on monitor is very simple to install and configure. Mobile Pixels includes 4 magnets, a paper template to guide installation of said magnets, additional adhesive pads, and a convenient QR code for installation instructions, though installation is so easy, videos weren’t needed. Center the paper template on the back of your laptop screen, peel the backer off the 3M adhesive on each magnet and stick them to the back of the laptop in the marked locations. The Mobile Pixels monitor is held in place by the magnets and is connected via a USB-C cable or HDMI cable (both included). If you are using Windows 10 or Windows 11, that is all there is to it. Windows will immediately recognize the second monitor with no user intervention. Slick and easy. USE The addition of a 2nd monitor with a laptop is a nice luxury. I often switch between 2 specific apps while working and it does get annoying. Having the ability to put a 2nd monitor on my laptop is oh, so nice. No more Alt-Tab to switch screens. The information I need is readily available and best of all, I don’t have to hook my laptop into a desktop monitor, docking station, or TV to achieve the same functionality the Mobile Pixels monitor gives me. Awesome. Mobile Pixels has given the Duex the ability to slide back and forth a couple of inches to help with laptop placement. It works well. On my 15-inch laptop with the mounting magnets centered on the back of the screen, the Duex slides just enough to allow the screen to reach full extension and able to angle back towards my field of view. The Duex display is a generous 14 inches and fits perfectly on either my 14- or 15-inch laptop without looking starkly out of place or obviously smaller. The Duex sports a FHD resolution of 1920 x 1080, matching my other 2 laptops. Text is clear and as easy to read as my main screen. Mobile Pixels even has built-in a variety of adjustments to help tailor the screen to your liking. Honestly, I was not expecting any form of adjustments, so having access to them was a pleasant surprise. The user can adjust settings like brightness, contrast, color temperature, etc. It is great to be able to fine tune the display, helping match your laptop’s primary display as much as possible without colors and images being too wildly different. NEGATIVES Adding a second screen to a laptop imposes a weight penalty. I immediately noticed the difference in my backpack after installing the screen. My laptop feels roughly 75% heavier and it was no lightweight to begin with. Because of the increased weight, the screen makes your laptop feel top heavy. My 15-inch laptop is older, so it isn’t a lightweight, but the screen made it feel like it wanted to tip over backward. My 14-inch laptop is much newer and lighter, and I had to be careful not to tip the screen too far back, as the added weight toppled it over. Some of this could be alleviated with moving the mounting points lower on the back of the laptop screen vs. centered. Even though there are color adjustments built-in to the monitor, I found the Duex was quite cool in color reproduction. Even after calibration, images were much cooler (bluer) than the screen on my laptop. This did make images appear somewhat different than that of the main display, but not annoyingly so. CONCLUSIONS Small negatives aside, the Mobile Pixels Duet is a worthwhile investment. The convenience factor of not needing to search for a 2nd display for productivity is so worth it. Installation and connections are simple and effective. My laptop had no issues driving both displays simultaneously, as most integrated graphics chips can do nowadays. I’ve never had a 2nd monitor for laptop until I received the Duet. Now, I don’t know why I didn’t get one sooner. Once you are spoiled with having 2 monitors, you won’t want to go back the one. RECOMMENDED

As one who is used to a wide screen monitor in the office and travels a lot for work, I dislike working on a laptop screen - it just feels cramped. I’ve tried traveling with free standing external monitors before, but they can be hit and miss depending on your workspace. IN THE BOX Inside the box you’ll first find some instructional pamphlets. There’s even a QR code to find instructions online, but I found that unnecessary. You’ll see the monitor, some magnets, extra adhesive pads for the magnets, and two cables. One cable is USB-A to USB-C/USB-A (USB 3.0) and the other is a HDMI to mini-HDMI (the monitor has a mini-HDMI port). Not only will it work with a computer via USB, but you can essentially plug any video source with HDMI into it. GETTING STARTED As a quick side note, this monitor is 14 inches. It will work with any laptop between 14-17 inches. How it works is that you attach magnets to the top lid of your laptop. The monitor then attaches to the top of the clamshell via magnets. You then slide the screen out. As I said, there’s some instructional pamphlets, with the most important being the template for where to place the magnets. If your monitor is 15 inches or less, you place the template (which has four holes the exact size of the magnets) in the middle of your laptop. If your screen is a little larger, you move the template a little closer to one side of the laptop. The one downside for using a larger screen laptop is that you are choosing up front, which side of the laptop you want the monitor to be on (left or right). For smaller laptops, the magnets are centered, so you can switch it to either side. Before attaching the magnets, you’re told to clean the lid of your laptop with the included alcohol pad (to help with the adhesive backing of the magnets. After that, and after getting the template where it needs to be (there’s lots of easy to follow guidance in the pamphlets), you simply remove the adhesive backing from the magnets and place them where the holes are on the template. The monitor then attaches easily. From there, I slide the monitor out and using the USB-C cable port in my computer (my computer also has HDMI but I didn’t use it), you plug it into both the monitor and the laptop and voila. The monitor powers on instantly. From there you can adjust your display settings so the external monitor extends your home screen. DESIGN The monitor is smartly designed. It’s very light, but when attached to your laptop, it will, as a full package, feel extremely heavy. It slides out on the tracks easily. The magnets on the monitor itself are oblong shaped, this allows the monitor to slide along the magnets attached to your laptop so that it reaches the edge of your laptop. You can even tilt the monitor towards you (similar to a curved screen I guess). The screen itself slides in and out of what can only be called a protective shell. When fully closed, however, there is about an inch worth of screen that is unprotected (meaning when fully closed, there’s a sliver of screen unprotected). I’m assuming this was designed out of necessity to allow the screen to tilt and flip. Sometimes I found the screen to come off the hinge when trying to slide it shut. When laying flat, the monitor easily opens and closes, but when trying to close it while it’s vertical - i.e. attached to your open laptop screen - it sometimes doesn’t shut right. But all you have to do is pull it back out and gently close it with both hands to make sure it stays on the track. As I said before, the magnets on the screen itself are oblong, so you can slide the monitor from right to left which allows you to have the display on either side of a 15 inch monitor or less. You can also use the monitor without it being attached to your laptop. For example, you can use the cover as a stand, and have the monitor positioned in portrait landscape. Extending that further, the screen fully rotates backwards, so you can have the display on the back of your laptop facing someone sitting behind the computer so they can see your screen. This is helpful for me as an attorney showing witnesses something on my computer screen - without doing the whole “turn my laptop” around and stand next to them awkwardly. The screen is 1080p with 60hz. Nothing fancy, but more than adequate. It’s not meant for gaming, but for those that need/prefer an extra monitor when using a laptop. I also have to add that it simply works. I’ve had zero issues with it not turning on. Once I plug it into my laptop, it powers up immediately without fail. DRAWBACKS I mention the word “drawbacks” loosely. For what it is, I think this monitor is about as good as you can get. But there are some things to consider depending on your use case. It’s 1080p which can be disorienting when your laptop has a higher resolution. It’s also only 14 inches - when using a 14 inch laptop it’s probably not an issue, but mine is 15 inches and it looks small. Given its 1080p resolution and 14 inch size, the text and images can appear small. But, as recommended in the aforementioned information pamphlets included, you can simply change the scale of the monitor to 125% (or more) to make things easier to see. It undoubtedly draws on your battery. I suspect that you, like me, would mostly use this monitor when you’re sitting down for an extended period of time - therefore using AC power - just know that it will substantially decrease your battery life. The shell, if you will, of the monitor seems flimsy. Again, I think this was a conscious and necessary design choice, but I get concerned simply sliding this into a bag with other heavy items inside; I fear it will get crushed. I guess the only way to put it is that it feels delicate. Nothing, some precautions wouldn’t take care of, but I wouldn’t just “throw it” in my backpack. To that end, the one gripe I do have is that I wish it came with a protective sleeve; something to give me some semblance of protection. There’s also the magnets. I’m not a huge fan of having magnets permanently affixed to my laptop, but they certainly are unobtrusive as a practical matter. They are short enough where they don’t get caught up when sliding my laptop into my bag. CONCLUSION If you’ve always wanted more screen real estate on your laptop, whether you work from home or frequently travel, this is one of the best solutions you can find. I’ve been extremely impressed with the versatility of this monitor and its easy plug and play use.

This extra screen is great for around doubling your laptop screen on the go or at home. It was easy to install doesn’t add much weight and can be removed easily if needed. It can be used with a USB-C video capable, or HDMI connection. If you use HDMI, you still need a USB connection for power. The cables provided are just the right length. Not to long, but long enough to allow the screen to move as needed. In the box you get the screen in its shell, an alignment plate, USB-A/C and HDMI connection cables, magnets, and extra stickers. This device is just based on magnets and sliding out an extra screen. Placement is easy. Using the supplied placement sheet, line it up on the back of your laptop. Before you go and put the magnets on, make sure of a few things. Which way you want the screen to slide out, and are the connections you need available on the side you want. The directions say to place the device in the center of the laptop back, I put mine a little more to the side I needed to make sure the screen would fully clear the laptop back and could be angled as I wanted. Once the magnets are in place, the screen attaches to them. The magnet groves allow the screen to move a few inches to the left or right so the screen can clear the laptop. Then attach the cables as needed. With the video connection on the back of a laptop I had no issues with the screen going either way. With the connection on the side, to cut down on cable length I made sure the screen went in the direction of the cable locations. On a Dell laptop I used the USB-C connection, and the screen came on with no issues. On a Gigabyte laptop I had to use USB for power and HDMI for video and it worked with no problems, just need the extra cable. The screen looks great. Just slide it out from its shell. It has three buttons on it. Top and bottom for adjusting selections and a middle one to bring up the main menu and options. Brightness and contrast are good, and all can be adjusted. The screen will show its connection type and you’re set. I used this like any other two screen or ultra-widescreen setup. Programs on different screens was no issue. For both laptops I tried it with the laptop screen on a discrete Nvidia 40XX mobile GPU, and I powered the second screen with built in Intel graphics. This really stepped up the laptops for gaming. I have my game on the main screen and discord or control/monitoring features on the second screen. Also worked great in some games I could go across both screens with. You can tilt in the screen for a better view or twist it around. The second screen really adds versatility to a laptop without adding much weight or bulk. I can still fit the laptop with cables and screen in the same carrying case with no issues. You buy extra magnets and stickers from Mobil Pixels or find you own. Then, you can just slap the magnets on another machine and swap out the screen as needed. The magnets did not affect the laptop screen displays at all. Overall, an easy to setup device that makes you laptop much better.

I have been in the market for a portable extra monitor for my laptop for months and couldn’t wrap my mind around having to tote around a separate device I would have to prop up when I needed more screen. That’s when I came across the new Mobile Pixels DUEX MAX DS 14.1-inch portable laptop monitor. This thing is more packed with features than any other portable screen I had been looking at to fulfill my needs. Perhaps the best innovation is the magnetic feature that attaches the monitor to the back side of my laptop’s monitor making it portably convenient. Once attached, you simply plug it into a USB-C or HDMI output from your laptop, slide the screen out to the side to open it when needed and slide closed when not in use. Being that it’s magnetic, you are able to remove it completely and have the option to stand it up separately in kickstand mode either in landscape or portrait mode which makes it much easier to view full documents as a side screen which is a must have in my line of work. I also love the magnetic feature because I can move it to my other laptop if needed and it comes with additional sticky pads for the magnets in the event you need to switch/upgrade laptops. The screen, although small in comparison to most computer/laptop screens, is still very brilliant and clear. Overall, I couldn’t ask for more from the monitor for what I was looking for and this one fulfilled all my needs and then some and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a portable monitor.

I did some research on Mobile Pixels and they are original designers of the portable monitors that attach to the laptop. I saw a bunch of knockoff brands but I didn't trust them and this product look like the highest quality with a warranty. So pulled the trigger on getting this model since it was the largest size screen you can get at 14.1" . I first got the another side by side portable LCD but I didn't like that I need equal desk space to place a stand alone portable LCD. I needed something that can be easy to use and quick to setup. The Duex Max DS fits the bill perfectly when I'm out traveling. I just keep it attached to my laptop slide out the screen when I setup my computer. At work the slide out screen also acts as a 4th screen for my desktop setup. I think the screen quality is perfect for my needs and the one cable solution using USB Type C is perfect. When I use excel it makes copy/pasting data is very convenient instead of hitting ALT + Tab to swithc screens. I give this 5 stars because it has uses in and outside of the office.

Mobile Pixels was established in 2018 with the thought in mind to  increase the work area in a laptop's display like it can so easily be done on a desktop. Which is why the Duex Max is such a convenient option for anyone  using a laptop or other mobile computing device. The Duex Max is made from durable ABS and Aluminum materials which not only gives it strength but also keeps the weight down. It's only 1.8lbs and pretty slim at about .58 inches at the highest points and only 0.25 inches for the lower points and the majority of the body. The display is 14.1 inches with an 85% screen to body ratio. With a high brightness level of 300 nits the contrast and  colors really pop. The 60Hz refresh rate is good enough to  play games and enjoy your favorite videos or photos on. Everything actually looks better on the Mobile Pixel screen vs my laptops default screen with the contrast, color and sharpness. Despite the high brightness and Full HD display, the screen is designed for  low power drain(4.5watts), to help keep your connected devices running as long as possible. The "Eye Care Mode" helps to reduce Blue Lights to protect eyes and eye fatigue. This can be turned on from the onscreen menu. There are three buttons on the  back of the monitor to activate and navigate through the menu. Magnetic mounting gives you the extra freedom other options don't. You can leave the screen attached to your laptop all the time, or separate it for easier storage while traveling.  The magnetic mounts only take a minute or two to install. There are extra sticky pads included if needed, as well as a template. The template just gets  centered on the back of your laptop screen. If you have a 15" screen or smaller this method of installing works pretty well. However, if you have a larger screen laptop, you might want to line up about where and what side you are going to  be using the 2nd screen on. The reason I say this is because the magnetic mounts actually let the screen slide to the left or right before or after you actually open it. On larger displays, centering the magnets will actually make it difficult to see the  closest edge of the 2nd screen, because it will end up being blocked by the bezel on your laptop. To avoid this mistake, try taping the template onto the back of your laptop first, and then hold the 2nd screen up against it to try to figure out how it  will look once the screen is displayed.  I use my 2nd screen on the left, so I had to  place the template closer to the left border of my laptop screen. The included cables are pretty durable, but not flexible enough. I would have liked to  have seen thinner, more flexible cables to better hide them during use. Although, I do understand that thicker grade cables usually put out higher quality. The plug and play feature mixed with Auto Rotate really makes this thing a breeze to hook up. It takes more time to stick the magnets on, then to get this up and running. Once the cables are plugged in, the next step is to go to your display  settings on your laptop/device and set up how you want to use the 2nd screen. Either as a duplicate to your main screen for presentations (in which you can flip the screen all the way around, so that people on the other side of your laptop can see what you are doing on the main screen). Or you can also set the 2nd screen as an extension of your current desktop, doubling the workable area, allowing you to keep more apps and windows open at the same time. The Duex Max can also be removed from the back of the laptop, and positioned in  portrait mode by opening the screen all the way and tilting it backwards to the desired angle. The Portrait Mode can also be used as an extension of your desktop. This formation typically  benefits coders, web developers, writers, editors or anyone else looking to have more vertical space for their display vs horizontal. Because of the lightweight and compact design, this screen can be used for tons of different  applications. It can be directly hooked up to Samsung phones that offer the DEX feature, turning your phone into a mobile desktop. It can also be plugged into the Nintendo Switch or any other  gaming system or device that offers an HDMI output. The screen itself uses a mini HDMI plug. The included cable has a regular HDMI on one end and a Mini HDMI on the other. There is also an included USB C cable with a USB 3 adapter. The USB C cable can be used to power the screen when using the HDMI cable. However some devices can send power and video through USB C,  so for these devices the HDMI  cable is not necessary, like with most Chrome Books. Even if the cables are connected and the screen is in it's closed or docked state, the screen will remain off. Incase you are curious there are no speakers in the Duex Max, but in most applications you will be using the audio on the connected device anyway. Devices like the Switch and some other gaming consoles can utilize a headset, as most of them connect to the  controllers for additional audio. Overall the Duex Max is a great option for a 2nd screen. It's less than 2 lbs and thinner  than most laptops. It's durable, tilts for varies viewing angles, has great image quality, is plug and play, and has it's own controls for display adjustments. 

One of the question I had about Mobil Pixels newest product, the Duex Max DS 14.1inch IPS LCD monitor was if it was battery powered, it is not. what this means is it draws power from your laptop. It only draws power when you use the USB-C cable from your laptop to the monitor, if you are just using the HDMI cable, it will not work. Unless you also plug-in the USB-C cable to a power source. The 1080p resolution looks just like you think it would, on its own it’s pretty clear. But if you compare it to other 1440p or higher resolution monitors, you will be disappointed. There are a couple ways to mount this monitor to the back of your laptop, the best way is to use the included magnets, you’re going to have to stick these magnets to the back of your laptop so that the housing for this monitor can then attach to them, The monitor than just slides out creating that second screen right next to your laptop screen. I was surprised at how fast this laptop turns on, it turns on within literally a second from when I plug it in. There are a few buttons to navigate the menus, but I found that the default settings worked just fine for me. You can also use it as a bigger screen for such devices as the Nintendo Switch, there’s even instructions included on how to do so. You can play your switch on the bigger screen in handheld mode, which honestly is a nice improvement. The quality of this product is pretty good, it feels very sturdy, and it looks pretty good, I would recommend this external monitor for anybody that just needs more space to work with on your laptop.

The Duex Max DS is an average-ish quality display packaged in a somewhat unique and versatile form factor. The standout feature is that the monitor attaches to the back of the laptop display, which has two benefits: it brings the display to the same level as the laptop screen and it requires less desk space. This is an ideal form factor to boost productivity when on the go, such as sitting in a coffee shop or other public spaces where desk space is limited. The fact that you can power and connect the screen via a single USB-C cable (with DisplayPort capability) also is convenient to cut down on clutter. Aside from side-by-side mode, you can position the monitor to display directly behind the laptop screen, which is surprisingly useful when reviewing documents with a person sitting across from you. The magnet system allows you to easily detach the display (the magnets are semi-permanently attached to the back of your laptop with adhesive), and you can position the case and screen in portrait mode on the desk next to your machine. My big complaint here is that there’s no way to set the display in landscape mode on a desk, which limits its versatility for connecting it to my desktop when I’m in the office or as a larger screen for one of my portable gaming consoles. The 1080p display is well-suited for productivity apps, but discerning users will certainly notice the contrast and sharpness to be lower than most mid-to-higher end laptop displays. There are three buttons placed on the back of the unit for controlling settings. The display offers 300 nits of max brightness, but I still found the display to be on the dim in my brightly lit office. Overall, I think this product does a good job filling its intended space in the market, and I would recommend it to people looking for this kind of setup.

This external display is a lot more versatile than I was expecting! Once unboxed, it comes with a paper template to help you place four *very* strong magnets. A word of caution is that the adhesive is also equally strong - I am using a snap case for my laptop so I do not damage the display. The monitor feels solid once it is attached using the magnets, and has a solid "click" when you slide it out. Once extended, the monitor's sturdy hinge also lets you rotate the display inward for better ergonomics. One thing I do like is also that it can run entirely off USB-C alone without needing HDMI, though it does have a microHDMI connection if needed. The display is easy to use and intuitive, and I am impressed at the image quality as well as viewing angles. It also has a sensor that auto rotates depending upon the orientation of the display (i.e., if you have it mounted such that the screen extends to the right of the main screen or to the left, it will always display correctly). That being said, that unfortunately the two issues I have with this device is that the screen clarity is a bit on the low side. It is perfectly fine for media, but if you were to read text heavily on this (i.e., long emails, web page articles, spreadsheets, etc.), I think that the slight fuzziness would be problematic. Secondly, while the thin-ness of the display is appreciated, it does feel a little fragile. It would be great if the display had an option to stand by itself instead of having to put magnets on the laptop.

The Mobile Pixels - DUEX Max DS 14.1" IPS LCD Monitor - Black, helped me take my favorite laptop up to another level! I really liked the smaller form factor of my 15" laptop, but found myself using one of my larger heavier laptops more often because I liked the bigger screen. Now I don't have to! The Mobile Pixels - DUEX Max DS 14.1" IPS LCD Monitor - Black took less than 10 minutes to install it and have it up and running on my laptop. There are 4 little removable adhesive magnets that stick to the back of the laptop screen. Using the included template and following along with the simple instructions I had the magnets installed in no time. After the magnets install, the screen clips right to the back of the screen nice and tidy. The whole set up still fits into my laptop bag protection slot with no problems. To use I simply have to open the laptop screen, slide the Mobile Pixels - DUEX Max DS 14.1" IPS LCD Monitor - Black off to the side, and plug in the included data usb cable to my laptops display port usb C connection. Once connected the screen powered on and a simple set up in windows to extend my screen, and finally I can have the screen real estate that I've been wishing for! Overall it's easy to install, has a great picture, works perfectly, and does what I was hoping it would do. Easily recommended 5 out of 5 stars all day!

This portable monitor is awesome! I work from home some days and am usually at my desk with a dock and monitors. However I love taking my laptop to my patio and even on vacation to work remotely. I already have an Asus Portable monitor that has to be packed separately and used with a stand. This monitor Mounts to your laptop lid and changes the game! All you have to do is install 3 magnets using the provided template. Be sure to check that it will sit to your liking. Then you snap on the monitor, that's it. You open the lid and then slide out the monitor and angle it slightly. It's pretty seamless. You then connect the monitor with either a USB C to USB C cable or a mini HDMI to HDMI cable, all of which are included. If your computer is not capable of video output via USB, then you will have to use the HDMI cable plus the USB cable for power to the monitor. Once it is up and running, it is plug and play. The resolution is very good with no complaints at all. Your computer will recognize it like a normal monitor and it will behave as such. I even connected my asus usb monitor and they both worked. From this point forward, i have an awesome portable setup when working remote and on the go. I highly recommend this monitor and is a must have if you travel and take your laptop.

The Dues Max Ds monitor is great for those who need an additional monitor for laptops. The unit snaps on to the back of your laptop lid via adhesive magnets. Then when needed you can slide the unit out and plug the monitor in. The monitor can be detached and using the kickstand can be utilized in portrait mode. This is great for those who intend on using the extra monitor at a desk, or workstation. For me I usually take my laptop to different rooms and have to remember to shut the lid before moving as this Dues adds more weight to the lid and may make it swing wide open. The Dues will not fall off, the magnets are strong and outward facing, so no magnetic interference to your laptop (so far). I have found that in my situation, the best solution is to leave it at my workstation or desk and should the need arise for another monitor I can just hook it up either landscape or portrait with the kick stand. The slide out/kickstand is plastic and feels like it could snap if stressed. I was able to match the same resolution with my laptop, move pages back and forth, mirror and separate the screens very easily. The monitor to me seemed a little dark even after adjusting the level to 100% but not a deal breaker. I was able to cast my phone (Galaxy S22) to the Dues with no issue. I was pleased with the results. The phone when hooked up acted as a touch pad. I feel the Dues has great potential. I wish the frame was aluminum or more sturdy. I feel with extended use the frame may become more apt to breakage. If you plan to use this at a desk or workstation and need the additional monitor this unit is right for you. But if you are mobile and on the move constantly I’m not sure I would use this until frame is strengthened.
