About This Item
Monaco (original 2000) is the self-titled second and final studio album by Monaco, following their debut album InchMusic for PleasureInch (1997). Monaco was a side project (1995-2000) of Joy Division and New Order bass player Peter Hook, alongside David Potts, the sole remaining member of Revenge. The album reflects Hook and Potts' shared passion for blending rock with electronic and dance music. While it retains some of the melodic sensibilities and bass-driven grooves reminiscent of New Order, it establishes it's own distinct identity with a rawer and more introspective tone. Peter Hook's signature melodic basslines are central to the album, providing a driving, rhythmic backbone to many tracks. The album balances darker, introspective lyrics with upbeat tempos and catchy hooks, a hallmark of Hook's work. David Potts takes on lead vocals, delivering emotive performances that complement the songs' mood. His voice adds a personal and intimate touch to the album. The album features the single InchI've Got A FeelingInch and the beat-driven track InchSee Saw,Inch whose bittersweet lyrics and rich instrumentation make it a centerpiece of the record. Now, 25 years after it's original , Monaco is finally available again. This 25th-anniversary expanded edition comes as Digisleeve 2CD with a 16-page full-colour booklet and 13 bonus tracks.
