Not nearly thick enough for a standard home carpet. It has studs to hold it in place, but they seem to do nothing. The mat moves around whenever the chair moves. Huge 'divots' where the chair wheels rest. Almost completely defeats the primary purpose. Not to mention, the sticker that was on it left a nasty residue that required goo-gone to remove.
