I have found this to be an excellent entry-level sous vide cooker, with a few caveats. The first positive is the quality...this feels and looks every bit as premium as you would expect, despite the fact it's intended for more entry-level sous vide cooking. You can use the cooker by itself or use the companion Bluetooth app to set and monitor the temperature/time (useful if you're in another part of the house). The fact this is Bluetooth and not WiFi like the more expensive models is nowhere near as big a deal as it seems. Clean-up is very easy, just dry it off, and give it occasional vinegar baths every so often to knock hard deposits off from tap water. The biggest (and really only) drawback to this unit is the power, at 750 watts. What this means is that you won't be able to easily heat large containers if you plan on heating anything more than about 5 gallons of water. Sorry, no house party with a dozen steaks...at least without some ingenuity. One great thing about sous vide is the water has a lot of thermal capacity itself, so only your heating time to target temperature will suffer slightly, but once to temperature, even a lower power unit like the Nano can hold and maintain temperature. Starting off with hot tap water instead of cold water will instantly slash half the heating time off. The second is to use an insulated cooking vessel. An old cooler works very well for this. For me, I had an old styrofoam cooler that I modified to cook in, and am able to successfully use the Anova Nano to heat about 8 gallons of hot tap water in about 30 minutes. I have no regrets or qualms with this cooker, and would recommend it as a gift to anyone looking to start sous vide cooking.

So handy for: heating up thick or thin slices of ham for Easter Dinner. Frees up the oven for other baked items. Doesn't dry out the ham. Gave this to our son-in-law on Christmas Eve...... The lobster tail was perfect. If you do a steak or filet the entire piece of meat will be the correct temp end to end. So if you like Med-Rare, you should consider cooking to Med temp. You only have to grill the filet roast/lamb loin for 10-15 min to brown the outside. Also I did the lamb loin & filet in the same pot, until the last 45min, then upped the temp for the filet.

easy to use. Convenient because you can set it and come back to it hours later. you can set the temperatures from your phone. we are using it for the third time this week already because the food comes out amazing. I wouldn’t mind purchasing a second one in the future to cook multiple things at once!

So far I have cooked two sets of ribeye steaks, both have come out incredibly juicy and tender. Still tinkering a bit with the proper temperature and bath time to reduce pinkness (we all prefer medium, and have tried cooking at 140 for 90 minutes and 142.5 for 120 minutes). But it's a bit of a learning curve, but so far it has worked well. I know some other users have said they prefer getting the wifi version, but I didn't have a preference at this point.

I just recently got this for my wife for Christmas & it was easy to make perfect medium-rare filet mignons with the recipe & simple, easy vacuum sealing, marinating, slow cooking. Finish with a sear on a cast iron skillet to give it that char. The recipes in the App are amazing! Do your own search & you’ll be shocked how easy it can be to create your favorite dishes with hands free cooking. Certain dishes require finishing touches which ease.

This is a great cooking device and cooks food evenly. It’s easy to use with or without the app. I connected the app to my fire tablet that I keep in the kitchen so I don’t have to worry about walking away and the app disconnecting my phone

The Nano is the perfect size for a small kitchen like mines. Easy instructions and simple to cook a perfect yummy steak. I would recommend buying a food blow touch to give your steak a nice seared color.

I suppose if one is cooking whole roast suckling pigs sous-vide requiring heating up a huge vat of water, this unit might take a long time to get up to temp. But with a significant-sized 11.5-quart pot, it does just fine. Keeps the temp to within a few percentages of a degree without fail. Actually, as I think of it, unless that suckling pig was FROZEN it would probably work fine with it, too if you did the sneaky but 100% legit trick of heating up the water either in the tap or on the stove and adding to the pot. This unit is small but mighty. The only quibble I have (and not taking off points because it's easily solved) is that it can be tricky with wet hands to change the temperature on the device. It's NOT tricky to change it on the Anova App, though and I recommend that choice. Not only is this great for sous-vide, it will quickly thaw bagged food (don't just throw food into the water though; that can ruin the device - also be careful of temperature safety requirements when thawing this way!) I've been very happy with this unit.

I have always wanted a sous vide and finally got one. This is easy to operate and set up, though I do recommend a pot or container with straight sides and very deep. Highly recommend this product.

This is my first sous vide machine - it works VERY well, simple to use, holds cooking water temp within 1 degree. I'm quite satisfied. So far I've done a few steaks and chops and they came out perfectly cooked edge to edge.

Super inexpensive for the way it changes your kitchen game. Especially useful for quick thawing things - just set in a bath and run the circulator on the lowest temp setting and things thaw in under half an hour.

I really enjoy this product! Looking forward to doing more iteams with it. For Steak - Thicker is better, I see the butcher if they do not have 1.5 to 2 inch steaks and ask if they can cut me a few thick ones. Freeze them until ready to use. 130 degrees for 2 hrs using the appt. When done leave in the bag for 30 minutes. The juices go back into the steak. I typically now put the steak back into the fridge until the next night. reheat in 130 water for 30 minutes and sear in a very hot pan for about 2 minutes on each side. Thin steaks can't be done this way and in the end you are better off just pan frying. Steaks will have a Prime Rib texture but more flavor if using a Ribeye.

So, the Anova precision cooker Nano; what can I say? It's amazing! Very easy to use and makes life tease sweeter! If you are or are not a foody then you will love this product! Using ziplock bags and some chosen herbs and spices or sauces you can have the most AMAZING meal in a very short time. Your food will never be dried out (chicken) and will have the most outstanding flavor you will wonder how you got along without it. You can set it up before you leave for work in the morning, the water will never decrease, and you food will not overcook or undercook. The temp will be retained throughout the day. Slap it on a grill just to make it look pretty or to add texture and your ready to eat. I also HIGHLY,HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend using this to make mashed potatoes (you will want to thank me and you should). The app provides lots of recipe options including desserts. We now have two of these one is larger and does turkey and larger portions. You will need a deep pot or bowl, (heat resistant it can get hot) as the basin. Clean up is not a factor as it doesn't get dirty. Fall in love with your new personal chef! I did!

It’s a great product, but it’s difficult connecting to my phone, even inches away. Besides that it works great. I have to set a timer on my phone or watch to know when to check the food.

Honestly I was told by a friend to get the bigger version. But I opted with this guy. I’ve used it about 20 times now and have honed in on using it properly. It is so simple. And effortlessly cooks whatever you throw at it. Just a tip buy a vacuum sealer or use one if you have one. Makes it so much easier. I use this thing all the time. Seamless Bluetooth connectivity too.
