TL;DR: ~ Weightless: It’s under half a pound, they’re literally so light I basically forgot I was wearing them. I still do get some ear fatigue though, but I blame my ogre ears as they’re getting pushed down a bit. I imagine smaller ears will be fine! ~ Open-Back: The design lets the audio and my ears breathe, and you can still hear what’s happening in the room. And it doesn’t feel so clamped. I got back from a jog and was kind of sweaty, slapped on the headset after cooling down for a bit and having my ears breath despite still being hot was a nice feeling! ~ Quality build: It doesn’t feel cheap! It is super nice! Aluminum, soft and light! ~ No Battery Anxiety: Since they're wired, I never have to worry about charging them, or updating firmware! Legit plug and play! ~ Incredible Audio: The sound is based on Sony's high-end studio headphones from what I read, so everything is super clean and accurate. I really like the sound! I don’t have an issue and it gets loud without distortion. I don’t know if others can hear the audio or not though, being open back and all. ~ Short Cord Trade-off: The 7-foot cable is fine for a desk on PC but makes couch-to-TV gaming on my PS5 Pro a hassle. Cord gets tangled, sometimes get knots, and since it’s on the controller, it’s too long. I wish it had a shorter option as well included in the box. ~~~It’s changed my life~~~ I’ve used a lot of wireless headsets and hated the idea of using a wire. Granted it’s technically still wireless audio on Playstation but besides the point! The life changing experience is the plug and play nature of it, not having to charge, get firmware updates, etc. ~~~Honestly, You Forget They're On~~~ The best part for me is the weight and having my ears breath! The way the headsets sit on my head and because it’s an open-back design, my ears don't get hot. Plus, I really like that I can still hear things around the house or when I’m feeling ADHD and want to watch a show on my laptop while I play a game. ~~~~The sound is amazing~~~~ The audio quality here is where this setup really justifies itself. I’m not an audiophile by any means, but this easily sounds better than anything I’ve used before! Hearing Everything: When I’m dropping into Marathon or Arc Raiders, the spatial awareness is huge. I can actually pick out the sound of someone reloading or a door opening behind me with what feels like a high level of accuracy! Natural Feel: In a game like Crimson Desert, the open design gives the world a natural sense of space. It doesn't feel like the sound is crammed into your ears; it feels much more open and realistic as corny as that sounds. Plus in this game, there’s so many sounds from the wind, and rain, it is a chef’s kiss I swear! ~~~~WIRED SERIOUSLY?!?!~~~~ I’ll be honest: I really don’t like having a cord stuck to my controller or PC. And I don’t like the idea of having a cord in general for most things. It definitely gets in the way when you're moving around, and I wish it was wireless at times. However, I’ve found that I love not having to charge the thing, not having to worry about the weight, and not having to bring the wireless adapter with me if I go somewhere. It’s 100% easier to find a audio cable, than a specific dongle for your headsets! It’s a new experience for me since I’ve always used wireless headsets! And being able to just pick it up and go without checking a battery level is a huge win I didn't expect. But it’s still a cord, and on PC it’s a cord with an adapter on top of that. Unless you plug directly into your headphone jack, but then you lose out on the customizations you did from the app. The 7-foot cord is kind of nice on my desk set up, but on the couch with my PS5, the cord is too long! I wish they added two cord sizes in the box. ~~~~The Mic~~~~ I think the mic is good, from what I can tell, people don’t have issues with it, but I’m deathly afraid of people hearing me breath in the mic, and I don’t think it’s doing that. I’m just happy it’s super bendy, so I can move it away from my breathing parts. ~~~~The Bottom Line~~~~ If you’re okay with being tethered to your controller or PC, this is easily the most comfortable headset I’ve ever used. It ditches that over-processed, bass-heavy sound for something way more detailed and spacious. It’s a great upgrade if you want, what I assume to be, pro-audio quality without the weight or the constant need to recharge

These headphones for the most part an absolute joy to wear and hear and sound great for general usage however they may not be the best for 3d Spatial Audio specifically. Going into the physical aspects of the headset, I was surprised by how lightweight they are. They have pretty much no clamping force on your ears which for me is very good for long gaming sessions. Adding to that the earpads go for a very breathable fabric instead of a more plush pleather material so while still very comfortable they don’t make your ears hot overtime. The earcups themselves appear very robust and high quality which make sense due to its shared DNA with the MDR-MV1. The only slight qualm I have with the headset is the headband adjustment. It’s very comfortable to wear but rather than adjusting automatically when you put on the headset as some other Sony headphones do it instead had a button you press on each side and manipulate the headband on that side directly. This in itself wouldn’t be a problem but the way of adjustment is slight counterintuitive where instead of pulling the earcup up and down to adjust you have to slide the headband while holding the button which is cumbersome but that is my only real issue with the design. Moving onto the actual sound quality, I was very happy with its audio presentation. As mentioned earlier it uses the same drivers as in Sonys own MDR-MV1 headset and it shows in its crisp and detailed audio. As my first experience with an open back headset, I was very happy with the crisp and detailed soundstage through my PS5. It has a manual volume rocker which allows you to really fine tune your volume level between it and the ps5s own volume adjust. One pro-tip is that the volume adjuster on the headset is set to 0 out of the box and you need to scroll up the wheel to get volume, just so you don’t go crazy trying to figure out why you don’t hear audio from your ps5 off the bat. It sounds a bit different than I expected, it’s a very natural and open sound stage compared to traditional closed back headsets which sound more encircled around you and slightly in your head. Ironically this very property, might actually weaken the effect of Spatial Audio due to the fact that the soundstage is less isolated for pinpointing objects in a specific point in space. The high quality sound the headset produces however is the star of the show imo and more than makes up for any slight weakening of atmos capability. I also tested using the inzone hub app on a computer with the USB-C audio box. On PC I didn’t really find any difference between using the RPG/Adventure EQ vs the flat EQ with Spatial Audio enabled however I didn’t try anything games with dedicated 3d audio support so it’s possible there may be more pronounced differences there. Interestingly, using the audio box seems to provide a slight bass boost compared to using the headset directly connected to a headphone jack which some may appreciate. I still found the sound to be just as crisp and detailed as on the PS5. One slight issue with the inzone app is that with certain games it would prevent NVIDIA automatic switching from the integrated GPU display to its virtual GSYNC display which may be a consideration for laptop users specifically. Overall I think this is a very solid headset with good, clean and crisp audio for general usage though for PS5 you may be slightly better off with the PlayStation specific headsets that have directly integrated features with the console.

Verdict: The Sony INZONE H6 Headset is a light-weight and fairly comfortable gaming headset with exceptional sound (right out of the box!). The design of the headband spreads the weight evenly for longer comfort. The earcups effectively avoid getting too hot and they are big enough to avoid pressure on any part of my ears. With everything being wireless first these days, I do appreciate the no-fuss setup of a cable connection. If you are on the fence… try these out with exceptional sound testing tracks, spatial testing tracks, and gaming – just amazing! First Impressions. The headset look good and are fairly low profile for gaming headsets. There are only two buttons: mute and volume. The headset comes with a 3.5 mm cable, a USB-C adapter, and a detachable microphone. Gaming sound. Using these to play an FPS game immediately highlights a different sound quality and spatial edge that I had no experienced before. I went back and fort between the Sony and a different gaming headset... the difference in quality and crispness of the sound was remarkable, providing a more immersive and realistic experience. Spatial awareness and environment cues (open area vs small areas vs sound coming from behind a door) are also more impressive than anything else I have used before, optimizing for game play and immersion. Music sound. Perfect! Exceptional, right out of the box. Unbelievable bass, and perfect balance and sharpness across the range. I only meant to test these while gaming, but then I got curious… which took me into a lengthy detour of listening to all kinds of music. Things I love: - I headband is fairly comfortable, with ample adjustments - The sound is remarkable… The most impressive I have used in terms spatial accuracy, sound realism, and fidelity - The volume wheel on the back of the ear cup is very handy - I appreciate that the microphone is entirely removable - 3.5 mm and USB-C adapter options. I appreciate the 3.5 mm connection to avoid using a USB-C port for simple listening, but the USB-C adapter is the way to go to get the most out of your sound - Very comfortable and breathable - Zero discomfort while wearing eye glasses. Things I don’t love: - I would have like a case or pouch for storage and travel. For now, they will just live on my desk Overall, this is an exceptional gaming and music wired headset. For what you get (comfort, breathability, sound quality, spatial accuracy, realism), it delivers amazing value. I most highly recommend the Sony INZONE H6 Headset.

I’ve been spending some time with the H6 Air, and the first thing you notice is just how amazingly light they are. Even though they’re featherweights, they feel really well-built, like they could easily handle the bumps and bruises of daily use. The halo-style headband has a great springy, flexible feel to it, and I really appreciate that they put the physical volume rocker and mic-mute button right on the left cup where they’re easy to find. The comfort level is honestly incredible. The headband is simple to adjust and sits so lightly that I didn't deal with any of that usual 'headset fatigue.' Plus, the fabric ear cushions rest gently around your ears without pressing on your jawline—which is a huge win if you wear glasses like I do. Since they have an open design, your ears stay nice and cool; I wore them for hours at a stretch without a single complaint. When it comes to sound, these are a treat. Right out of the box, the 40mm drivers have this lovely, warm, and natural signature. The bass feels deep and precise, the midrange is beautiful, and the treble adds a nice bit of brightness without ever feeling harsh. Because of that open-back design, the soundstage feels massive—almost like the audio is coming from the room around you rather than just inside your ears. The imaging is spot-on too, so you can tell exactly where every sound cue is coming from. I’m also really impressed with the mic. It doesn’t have active noise-canceling, but the way the removable boom mic sits right in front of your mouth means it picks up your voice perfectly while keeping background noise to a minimum (though it did catch a few of my heavier keyboard strokes!). Whether I was gaming or in a professional meeting, everyone heard me loud and clear. If you want to tweak things further, the INZONE Hub software is a must-use. You can play around with different EQ presets—I’d highly recommend the RPG/Adventure ones—and the 360 Spatial Surround is a very cool experience for movies and gaming. I’ll admit, I was a little unsure about the value at first, but after using the H6 Air in so many different scenarios, I really don't have much to complain about. I'm very pleased with them!

We couldn't be happier to hear that you appreciate the MDRG600’s amazingly light yet durable design, the flexible and springy halo-style headband, and the convenient placement of the physical volume rocker and mic-mute button. It brings us great joy to know the comfort level truly stood out for you, especially with the easy adjustment, minimal headset fatigue, and fabric ear cushions that rest gently without pressing on your jawline—perfect for glasses wearers. Your detailed praise of the open design keeping your ears cool during long use, alongside the warm, natural sound signature with deep bass, beautiful midrange, and bright yet smooth treble, really captures the essence of the listening experience we strive to create. We’re also glad the mic’s positioning helped deliver clear voice quality while minimizing background noise in both gaming and professional meetings. It’s great to hear how much you enjoyed the INZONE Hub software’s EQ presets and 360 Spatial Surround for an enhanced audio adventure. Your honest feedback about initial hesitation and how the headset ultimately impressed you in various scenarios is truly appreciated.

Sony - INZONE H6 Air Wired Open-back Gaming Headset for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox, and Mobile Sony's InZone H6 Air sounds like a typical analog gaming headset, but then you look at the price, which seems high. When you factor in the excellent audio quality, smart open-back design, great fitment, and extreme lightweight build, you go, "Wow, how did they cram all that into such a comfy design?" Part of the answer is that it doesn’t have batteries in the headset and has a cool, open, lightweight aluminum back. And the custom electronics are crammed into the small box (InZone Hub) on the USB connector that the headset cord plugs into. The software customization is loaded on the PC, so no need to incorporate it into the headset. You can also create custom presets. But you can only get them in software on the PC- you can't download them to the headset, for example, to use with the 3.5mm connection. Just something to be aware of. Open-back headphones, characterized by ventilated earcups, tend to be pricier than closed-back models. An open-back design generally delivers better, more neutral sound quality, partly because the ventilation prevents sound from bouncing around inside the enclosure. Sony's InZone H6 Air headset really delivers on sound, as it is based on the same drivers as the Sony Studio Monitor headphones. The headset produces super bass, clear mids and highs, with low distortion, precise separation, and a broad soundstage. I usually have to tweak equalizer settings in gaming headsets for music, but these sound great without it, which is perfect for all the music in the new games and means less tweaking for me. The InZone Hub offers a handful of EQ presets, surround audio (Sony's 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming) and a new Immersive preset targeted at RPGs and Action games. When I use it on the Sony PlayStation instead of my PC, I prefer a direct connection to my PS5 Controller and find that it works well with the built-in headset controls on the PlayStation. It gives me the same effects as my Sony INZONE H9 II Wireless Noise Canceling Gaming Headset, minus the noise canceling. I don’t mind giving up noise-canceling for the comfy, airy, less-than-half-a-pound headset (with the mic attached). Open-back ventilation helps reduce the air pressure on one's ears, something that more sound-isolating designs emphasize, making things less comfortable. The headband offers a wide range of adjustability and slides easily along the frame, making it easy to set up for almost any body's head. There aren't many controls on the headset itself, just a volume dial and a mic mute button. The mute is located at the top of the left earcup and is big and easy to feel, just like my Sony INZONE H9 II headset. Plus, the boom mic is removable. The 3.5mm connection and long cord give you plenty of compatibility with other devices as well. If you're looking for a quality wired headset with great sound, lightweight, cool comfort, and a good-looking design, this unit should be at the top of your list.

Sony once again has made a fantastic sounding gaming headset. Light and comfortable with a little less heat buildup. The conundrum is they made them so light weight and void of bells and whistles. You will wonder if the audio alone is worth the asking price. Also, determine ahead of time if a potentially noisy enviroment with open back headphones is right for you. Pros: Very light headphones Open back, really good audio Less heat trapped at ear Good microphone, better sound options on PC Open back does allow you to hear your enviroment Branded stickers included Cons: No Inzone software on PS5 7ft 3.5mm cord is short if not at a desk Open back does allow audio to be heard by others around you, as you can hear them too Phisical aspects: Right out of the box you will notice how light these headphones are. I think the box weighs more. Being so light does make them easy to wear for longer gaming sessions. The outter band has an easy press spring loaded button on a tight weave fabric covered band with a small internal track with secure locking grooves and plenty of travel for most heads. The inner head band is a soft pliable plush leather'ish material and feels nice on the head. The cups rotate flat both inward and outward and have a very soft fabric ear cup with thin inner fabric with no L or R indicating orientation. The exterior of the cups are a perforated non-magnetic metal material. All functions happen on the left cup. Here you find the 3.5mm port, a plastic ridged volume wheel with stops, mic port and a mute button that pushes down or pops up to reveal a red ring paint line. There are no lights. And very basic function onboard for these wired headphones. The 7ft 3.5mm cord is straight at one end and 90° angle at the other. And a usb-c to 3.5mm dongle is included. And I think is required to use with PC only, Inzone app. A bendy arm boom mic with foam cover is the only other accessory. Sound: No complaints on how good sound is for gaming and other listening scenerios. In a room with no ambient noise. These have fantasic sound in FPS, RPG and Sim games I play. In a noisy room, you can volume out the background, but not fully. On PS5 I connected to controller and was more limited to tweak the audio and mic. The sound designed into these headphones is very good out the gate for games and require little intervention. On PC the Inzone app can be used to dial in audio preferences a bit more for more than just gaming. Overall, just plugging in the headphones to watch movies/shows, listening to music and playing games sound far better then you would expect if just feeling how light these are. Usually, tuned by experts headphones were not always spot on for me and required an equalizer to make me happy. I did not require the equlizer this time, it is just a nice bonus for music. As for the mic, nothing to complain about here. No one said anything when I said anything. Final thoughts: When buying headphones, sound and fit are most important for me and the H6 Air does that. The odd thing for me is how light they are. Devoid of features and being wired compared to all the tech included with other headphones I have tried from Sony. The price seems a little much at first thought. I know Sony is bringing tech from their professional line of headphones down to us gamers and the value of that can't be ignored. I am just one of those guys that some heft in product makes me think quality, and light items make me think budget. Best Buy will hopefully have a display with good audio to try these. Once you hear and feel the H6 Air. I think you will agree that they are possibly worth the price.

Hi JinOH,
We are really happy to hear that you’ve had such a detailed and positive experience with the INZONE H6 Air!
It is fantastic that you noted the benefits of our design philosophy—stripping away "heft" to achieve a featherweight fit that eliminates the fatigue often found in heavier headsets. We are thrilled that the studio-grade audio quality impressed you enough to skip the equalizer, as we aimed to bring that professional-level transparency directly to gamers. While the open-back design is a departure from traditional gaming headsets, it is specifically engineered to provide that spacious, natural soundstage and superior breathability you mentioned, making those long sessions much more comfortable.
Thank you for trusting Sony to deliver a high-fidelity audio experience for your gaming setup!

I’ve been gaming with the Sony Inzone H6 air wired gaming headset for the past few days and I’m quite pleased with them. While they don’t have the convenience of being wireless, you never have to worry about a battery dying on them and can’t game for hours on end with these on. I prefer to play with wired headsets because 1.) No battery charging. 2.) you get a stable and reliable wired connection. These headphones are very comfortable for long gaming sessions. My ears never fatigued. I have a large head and they fit perfect around my head and ears. The headband is easily adjustable and the earcups are large and don’t put any pressure on your earlobes. I love the design. It is stealthy and industrial. No bright RGB lights or colors. The cups are open back so while they don’t completely drown out ambient sounds, they do a good job at isolating audio. Sound quality is excellent. I like to play battlefield 6 and rocket league, as well as survivor horror games. These headphones are very immersive for those type of games. Bass response is pronounced but not overpowering. Highs and mids are nice and clean. You can feel the thuds of explosions and the haunting sounds of ambient environments in horror games. The microphone is loud and clear, my friend said I was breathing heavy lol. You have to adjust your mic settings, or pull the microphone away from your face some. There is a mute switch and a volume control on the earcup. My only complaint is that I wish there was some sort of light or sound to let you know your microphone is muted. Not a big deal but I have to ask my friend if they can hear me sometimes cos I’m not sure if the mic is muted or not. These headphones should work with any console or PC since they have a standard 3.5mm aux jack. No proprietary software is required but it comes with a usb adapter for PC so you can take advantage of Spatial Audio drivers and make your games even more immersive. These headphones are amazing, and very comfortable. I like to game for 3-4 hours at a time and I never once felt any fatigue with these, and I think they are some of the best sounding gaming headphones I’ve ever owned.

The Sony INZONE H6 Air Wired Open-back Gaming Headset is a quality option for gamers seeking comfort, immersive audio, and consistent performance. • Unboxing – Included in the box are the headphones, detachable microphone, USB Type-C audio box, and two INZONE stickers. On the inside flap is a minimalistic quick start guide with a QR code and brief setup instructions. • Comfort – This is by far my favorite thing about these headphones. They are extremely lightweight, reported at only 216g with mic and cable, and can be worn for hours without experiencing any discomfort. The headband is easily adjustable with a side lock button. The earcups distribute pressure evenly around your ears and remain cool with prolonged use. • Sound – These offer natural and realistic sound with great directional audio. I have enjoyed using these with both competitive FPS as well as many single player games. The sound quality really allows you to become immersed in the game. Great job by Sony! • Microphone – The microphone arm is easily adjustable and it picks up my voice well without excessive background noise. • INZONE Hub – User friendly software which allows further customization including equalizer settings (multiple preset some of which include FPS, RPG/Adventure, Bass Boost, Music/Video, and more), spatial sounds, microphone volume, auto gain control, and sidetone. 📦 UNBOXING: Inside the box, you’ll find the INZONE H6 Air headset, a detachable 3.5mm audio/microphone cable, the detachable boom microphone, a 3.5mm to USB-C dongle, some INZONE branded stickers, and some basic documentation. 💪 BUILD: The INZONE H6 Air is lightweight at about 208g with the boom mic attached (excluding the cable). This is quite a bit lighter than the flagship INZONE H9 II, and still lighter than many open-back audiophile headphones. Because of its open-back design, this means there is very little sound isolation when wearing them. People around you will be able to faintly hear what you’re listening to, but the upside of this open-back design is the sound profile which I’ll discuss later. I really liked the suspension style headband on the INZONE H9 II, and that carries over to the H6 Air. You can adjust each side of the headband to your desired length, and it locks in place so you’re not constantly fighting with a loosening headband. You have to deliberately press in a switch to adjust the headband so you can be sure it’s not going to accidentally change. On the left ear cup is the analog volume wheel, boom microphone connection, and 3.5mm cable connection. On top of the left ear cup you’ll find an analog mute switch for the microphone. This microphone is not the same as the one used in the H9 II, as there is no LED on the microphone to indicate it is muted. In my testing, the H9 II’s microphone does not work on the H6 Air, but the H6 Air’s microphone does work on the H9 II albeit without the mute LED. The cable is of good quality and length with a nice rubber “belt” for rolling up the cable and keeping it organized. It also has no issues with tangling or exploding on your desk like many cheap cables do. Because of its rubberized quality, it does a decent job at minimizing any sort of microphonic noises when rubbing against your shirt. Braided cables can sometimes pick up these noises, and for an open-back wired headphone I believe they made the right call. The cable can be used directly into any 3.5mm combo audio jack, or into the included USB-C dongle. One notable benefit of using the included dongle is that it is designed for the INZONE Hub app, which I’ll discuss later. ⚙️ CONTROLS: You really only have two physical controls on the H6 Air. The built-in analog volume dial, and the microphone mute switch which makes a satisfying mechanical click. When the microphone button is depressed it is muted, and is active when it is pressed in. When using the USB-C dongle, sidetone monitoring is available, so you’ll be able to audibly hear yourself when the microphone is active. The analog volume dial is no-frills. It’s preferable to set your INZONE H6 Air dongle volume to 0% first and set the volume dial to 100% to start. Then increase the dongle’s volume until you reach your maximum comfortable listening volume. This way, you’ll never accidentally roll the volume dial beyond your comfortable listening volume. ☁️ COMFORT: Just like my experience with the H9 II, the comfort of the H6 Air has been great for me. The ear pads are very breathable, making use of foam cushions with fabric padding. And since it’s an open-back design, it doesn’t get sweaty during long game sessions. I wear glasses and in my experience the foam cushions don’t create any resistance or pressure points against my temples. The ear cups are oval shaped to accommodate most ears, and I haven’t had any discomfort. The ear pads don’t seem to touch my ears, and they’re thick enough to ensure the speaker drivers are not pressed against my ears. The suspension style headband continues to be very comfortable and I don’t experience pressure points on my scalp during long sessions. And the strap height adjustment mechanism is done on each side of the headband with locking adjustments. It should accommodate a good variety of head sizes, both small and large. 🎧 SOUND QUALITY: Sound quality is a highlight of the H6 Air because it uses the same driver found in Sony’s MDR-MV1 open back reference headphone. In part due to its open back design, the H6 Air is able to represent a reasonably wide stereo image for a more immersive listening experience, while also having good stereo imaging for positional audio. Bass is emphatic especially in the lower bass frequencies but doesn’t overwhelm the mid-range like a lot of gaming headsets tend to do. Of course, you can use the 10-band EQ in the INZONE Hub app if your listening preferences differ. The mid-range remains clear without muffled characteristics, and the treble has a more relaxed sound profile for me, making it great for long listening sessions without fatigue. I do hear a bit of emphasis in the 5kHz to 8 kHz range, but it doesn’t appear sharp and sibilant across the tracks I normally use to detect sibilance. This should be great for hearing audio cues in games while simultaneously being good for music listening. 🎙️ MICROPHONE QUALITY: The H6 Air has superb microphone quality that sounds natural. It’s not overly warm or boomy, and it’s not nasally or sibilant, either. It sounds uncompressed thanks to its analog wired nature, and it sounds more like you’re using a decent desktop microphone in terms of clarity. In terms of loudness, it also has no issues getting loud either via the USB-C dongle or via your computer’s onboard 3.5mm combo jacks. If used with the dongle, there is built-in auto-gain control so you’ll be audible across all apps and games. Among wired passive analog gaming headsets that I’ve used, I think the H6 Air has the best audio quality. Because it doesn’t have any built-in processing, it can still pick up some environment noise, keyboard clacking, and even your general breathing. If your computer processor has an NPU, it’s pretty likely that you’ll have a voice isolation effect you can apply to the microphone. Voice chat apps like Discord have some noise suppression built in, but if you find yourself needing more processing on the microphone, your graphics card may have an equivalent noise suppression feature like Nvidia Broadcast or AMD Noise Suppression. Another important note is that while the microphone is flexible enough to move to whatever position you please, it is also quite rigid and shouldn’t droop over time. I’ve seen detachable boom microphones on other headsets start to droop over time, but Sony seems to have a nice rigid design with this one. And since it is a removable microphone, you can always opt to use the H6 Air as just a wired headphone when you don’t need the microphone. 💿 SOFTWARE: The INZONE Hub is only available on PC and can be used with the included USB-C dongle. The app has a 10-band equalizer with presets, but I liked the flat option out of the box, and I’ve made my own custom EQ, as well. There is a dynamic range control option if you want to compress audio to make quieter sounds easier to hear. This can be useful for hearing quieter audio cues like distant footsteps, but I’ve never preferred these features. There is also a sidetone volume control, and an auto-gain microphone toggle as well as microphone test button. There is a “spatial audio” feature that requires you to use an app to scan your ears, but I’ve never liked the results of this feature on any Sony headphone that I’ve tried this feature on. IF you want an equivalent feature, you’re much better off paying for a license to Dolby Atmos for Headphones on PC in my opinion. 🧐 CONCLUSION: Overall, the H6 Air is a great implementation of a wired gaming headset that I think audiophiles and gamers can both enjoy. I’m really glad to see Sony making strides towards a more musical sound profile that is also fantastic for gaming. And while more pro audio brands are making wired gaming headsets, I think Sony has learned a lot about the shortcomings of those offerings to provide a meaningful package. There are a number of wired gaming headsets out there that offer more features yet sound worse and are still more expensive than the H6 Air. So from that standpoint, I think what’s being offered here is fantastic. Sony’s consumer division is making good use of the research, design and engineering of its own pro audio division to produce a gaming headset that earns itself a meaningfully positive recommendation for folks who want audiophile sound while gaming.

We are absolutely thrilled to hear that the INZONE H6 Air is delivering the "audiophile" experience we aimed for by utilizing our MDR-MV1 driver technology! It’s wonderful to know that the open-back design and lightweight build are providing the comfort and wide soundstage you need for those long gaming sessions. We also appreciate your detailed feedback on the microphone clarity and the versatility of the USB-C dongle with the INZONE Hub.
Thank you again for choosing Sony and for sharing such a thorough look at the H6 Air!

This headset is a very different product than many gaming headsets. Where others pile on the features with flashing lights, touch-panel controls, and fashion accessories, this headset goes the opposite direction. Everything that isn’t necessary for excellent audio quality is stripped away. As someone who really likes good-sounding audio, I definitely appreciate this decision. Let me start with what’s not included. There are no RGB lights. There are no fancy-looking design elements. There’s no battery—none needed since this is a wired headset. No wireless, no Bluetooth. No extra controls: just volume and mute—and both are physical, analog controls. What’s left is a surprisingly lightweight, purpose-built headset that does what it’s designed to do very well. Audio Quality: This product really shines in terms of audio quality, outperforming other headphones even twice the cost. They have an extremely flat frequency response curve with no sharp resonances. Thunderous bass, but I’m not complaining. The included USB adapter allows a digital connection via USB-C instead of an analog headphone jack, but in my experience the best sound quality may be had with a high-quality D-A box to connect to the headphones through the analog connector. The microphone is also of good quality, picking up voice clearly. A cardioid pattern means that sounds coming from elsewhere in the room are naturally suppressed even without any sort of voice isolation processing on the software side. Build Quality: The headset is quite light, and at first heft it may feel cheap or flimsy. It is neither. All the structural components are metal. Minimalistic, yes, but sturdy and flexible in all the right ways. The head band adjustment is clever and incredibly easy to operate—while also locking onto position so it won’t slip. Ear pads are very comfortable, and it rests gently on the head. Physical controls are easy to operate and provide tactile feedback. The microphone is removable but locks into place sturdily. The boom arm is flexible but stiff enough that the microphone stays put. Software: The INZONE Hub PC software has stringent software and hardware requirements. While I was able to get it to run on my Windows 11 PC, the software didn’t recognize that the headphones were attached. I don’t really know what I’m missing, but I’m guessing it’s nothing more than some EQ settings for the included USB “Audio Box” adapter. Bottom Line: I really love the sound that comes through this headset. That said, I can appreciate that this might not be the product for everyone. If you want wireless operation, extra features, or a fashion statement, this is not the product for you (although personally I do like the minimalist look). On the other hand, if you just wont a comfortable and durable headset that sounds great, this is an excellent choice at an excellent price. While this is marketed as a gaming headset, the sound quality lends itself to podcasting, sound engineering, or even the audiophile who wants a good microphone, not just great headphones.

The Sony inzone H6 air is a standard, good quality, well built bare to the bones headset that should last a long time. The sound is very clear and the detachable mic is a plus. it comes with a USB C audio box to use with a phone or a device that doesn't have audio jack. the cable is made of sturdy rubber that is long and doesn't get in the way in any situation. the ear cups are comfortable but I wish they were a little bit bigger. I also with that they had a wireless option The inzone hub is a good addition, but you don't have to use it. in game play this thing shines, as I said the sound is crystal clear and no issues with the mic at all. 360 spatial sound is a great welcome. and the open back is good and I can still hear noises and sounds around me. there is a bit of sound leak where if my volume is higher than 50% people close buy can definitely hear what am hearing. I don't know how I feel about that. am also not sure how I feel about the price. I get that we pay a premium for a premium brand but i also feel this should have been priced lower based on the feel and the material this headset is made of. over all i am enjoying my new headphones and will be using them for a long time.

These are so lightweight, it's almost shocking at first. Comfort is great, sound is clear with a decent low-end punch. Mic sounds great. My only issue was the build quality, as it feels quite cheap and I was experiencing some distortion in the right earcup. Could have just been a fault unit, though.

The Sony INZONE H6 Air open-back headset demanded I spend some time using it on both PC and PS5. During this time, it has earned its place as my sound device of choice. At 199g without cable or microphone, the H6 Air is light. You'd think that means cheap and flimsy, but this is a premium aluminum construction that feels sturdy without being heavy. The circum-aural fit is comfortable, and the open-back design prevents the heat build-up that I've experienced with other headsets during long sessions. Built-in controls are simple: volume and mute. That's all it needs. The headset is built with 40mm drivers, which are the same size you'll find across much of the gaming headset market. What sets the H6 Air apart from others is the open-back design. Where a closed-back headset traps sound inside the cup and produces a boxed-in feel, the open-back construction allows air to move more freely. This produces a natural and expansive soundstage, and the results are beautiful and certainly noticeable with sources that are designed with this in mind—specifically games. This is a gaming headset, after all. Honestly, this sense of space makes a real difference in practice. While the drivers themselves draw inspiration from Sony's professional MDR-MV1 headphones, they are balanced and detailed across a 10–20,000Hz range, with bass that has weight without obscuring the midrange, and highs that remain clear. I experienced the headset's capabilities across various media, including games, music, and videos. Without spatial audio (more on that later), the soundstage is clear and full, providing many games a level of immersion that a more closed, boxed-in presentation would certainly diminish. Even well-mixed music and videos feel as if I'm witnessing the content firsthand. For a headset of this caliber, this is impressive. Spatial audio via binaural rendering lends to the expansive soundstage that the headset creates. On PS5, 3D audio can provide sharpened positional accuracy for certain titles. When it comes to PC, I utilized both Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos as well the proprietary spatial sound feature in INZONE Hub app. I preferred Dolby Atmos, followed by Windows Sonic, and lastly the INZONE spatial sound profile. While not bad overall, the games I played with cutscenes were muddy, but I mostly blame the game and not the headset. Sony touts the headset as having an RPG/Adventure EQ profile developed by Japan Studio sound engineers, and while it worked to help enhance these types of games, cutscenes were still no good. I ultimately turned off spatial audio for games that were cutscene heavy. The included USB-C Audio Box is a must for spatial audio on PS5, and I found myself using this often. The detachable cardioid boom microphone performs well. Voice pickup is clean, background rejection is solid, and when it's not needed it comes off easily, and that's a nice feature to have for a sound-centric device. The cable is about 6-1/2 feet, longer than the majority of desk setups will ever require. I imagine this is to take advantage of the included USB-C audio box with a PS5, where you may not have the console within arm's reach. Still, I think that a two-piece solution—a standard length with an optional extension—would have been more practical and would have reduced unnecessary cable management. At least it comes with a cable band to wrap up any unused length. It's worth addressing the name directly: despite "Air" appearing in the product name, this is a wired headset. There is no wireless functionality of any kind. It's a curious branding decision from Sony that may cause some confusion, so know that before committing. Aside from the slight naming confusion and abundance of cable (yes, I'm not fond of it), the H6 Air is a seriously accomplished headset. The open-back design does a lot of the heavy lifting, the build quality is premium without being excessive, and real-world performance across varied media and game genres is consistently strong. For PC and PS5 users who want wired reliability with genuine audio fidelity, I would highly recommend the H6 Air.

Overall Impressions: I think I love this headset. No seriously, it’s super comfortable, weighs next to nothing, and it looks good. Oh, the sound. I almost forgot. It’s absolutely fantastic thanks to the open‑back design and the widest soundstage of any InZone H‑series headset from Sony. If you’re looking for the best Sony‑branded wired headset for your PS5, this is definitely a step above their past offerings. The open‑back design gives it a soundstage that easily beats anything Sony has released before, and it’s versatile enough to use on any device with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Appearance: The first thing you’ll notice is that these are very different from every other HX headset in the InZone line. They aren’t white, they aren’t enormous, and they actually look stylish. The H6 is still on the larger side visually, but not nearly as inspired by the PS5 design. The headset is mostly black with a honeycomb pattern, and overall they’re minimalistic and don’t stand out much except for the open‑back look. There’s no RGB or anything flashy, but that’s fine because they don’t need it. Build Quality: These headphones are made of super lightweight aluminum, and that’s one of the first things you notice. Being wired, there’s no battery or internal electronics weighing them down, so they feel almost airy compared to other headsets in this price range. Build quality seems solid. The lightweight design is clearly intentional and noticeable, but they don’t feel cheap at all. Comfort: Comfort is subjective, but I have to say the Sony InZone H6 fit my giant head just fine with room to spare. Clamping force is minimal but secure, and the cups go all the way around my ears, which makes them even more comfortable. I wore these for several hours without any pain or discomfort, and the fabric ear cups didn’t make me sweat much at all. There’s plenty of padding on the headband too, so you won’t feel pressure up there. I could see the size being an issue for people with smaller heads though, since the ear cups are still pretty large. I’d recommend trying them in a store if you have a smaller‑than‑average head. Sound/Microphone: This is where the headset shines. The open‑back design gives the H6 an incredible soundstage that immediately stands out compared to closed‑back gaming headsets. Games like Cyberpunk 2077, REPLACED and Resident Evil Requiem sound wide, airy and more natural than I expected from a Sony gaming headset. Imaging is excellent, and positional cues feel more realistic than what I heard on the H7. The sound signature still leans toward mids, and the lows and highs could use a bit more extension. An equalizer on the PS5 would help dial this in, but since that’s not available, you’re stuck with the default tuning. Even so, the open‑back design makes everything feel more alive and spacious than most closed‑back headphones in this price range. Just note that these are open‑back, so you’re not getting noise isolation or noise cancelling. You’ll get noise leakage instead, so they’re better for private settings rather than open offices or shared spaces. The microphone is good. Not amazing, but good. It’s clear enough for party chat, but nothing about it stands out compared to other wired headsets at half the price, and that’s fine. Connectivity/Ease of Use: Setup is as easy as plugging the cable into your PS5 controller or your PC. Being wired, there’s no charging, no dongle, no pairing and no battery anxiety. It just works. For the price, I was a little disappointed that it didn’t come with a carrying case or anything extra, but you do get a detachable boom mic. Adjustments are still basic on the PS5. There’s no equalizer yet, but if Sony is smart they’ll add one so users can fine-tune the sound of the InZone H6 like they can on PC. You’ll get a USB‑C adapter for PC use that includes some type of DSP for 3D sound. The physical controls are simple and easy to use. You get a volume wheel and a mic mute toggle, and that’s about it. Honestly, that’s all you really need on a wired headset.

I say this is a good headset for PS5, or PS4, XBox, etc if you’re using with a 3.5mm input/cable. What I’m doing now for the time being (while I don’t have a portable gaming pc as I had before), is gaming on ps5 with the headset wired to my Dualsense controller via the 3.5mm audio plug/port with the included cable; that’s it. There is no need to worry about charging or anything because that’s just it. It feels lightweight and it’s sounds, about on par I think with my other headset of a different brand that’s battery powered and has bass controls. But I think you have slight more advantage if gaming on a PC utilizing the inzone hub which goes into the usbc port, customize on the fly with their inzone app, then plug in the headset also via 3.5mm. What sets apart from the other headsets I’ve own is this open back design which helps make the headset more lightweight and it does feel light while wearing it compared to others which has a closed cup design. The mic I have attached and at some times I’ll chat when gaming on COD or BF to coordinate and help each other win and they were able to hear me fine. There’s also the convenient mute button also. I will continue to use these for the time being and experience more using the headset but of course limited on ps5 and unable to use the inzone usbc hub. I will say it’s very good for gaming though a bit a times the cord will get in the way though connected to the dualsense controller.

Having used INZONE headphones for a few years now with my PS5 that I absolutely love, I was excited to check out the latest offering from Sony with the INZONE H6 Air gaming headphones. The headset arrived in the now familiar Sony eco-friendly all cardboard packaging. Sony have really stepped up their game over the last few years to be more conscious about their packaging footprint. These come with a wired dongle to attach to a Playstation or PC, a long cord to go between the headphones and the PS5 controller (or PC) and the headset. Instructions are very minimal, leading me to check online before using them. Being used to the INZONE line of products, this headset is pretty much devoid of buttons. There is a large pop-up mute button above your left ear, but no light indicator like the wireless versions I'm used to, so you have to remember which setting (up or down) is mute (it's up in case you were wondering). Right out of the box, you really should connect the dongle to your PC and set up the headphones. I did NOT do that, and went straight into a game on the PS5. I plugged them into my PS5 controller and rested the long cable in front of me. I was promptly ridiculed by my friends for having a sensitive mic with all sorts of noise, and the game sounded absolutely terrible. I instantly took them off and switched back to the previous wireless INZONE H9 II I had previously been using. Later, I sat down with my PC and set about setting them up properly. I had to download the INZONE hub to my PC. I plugged in the headphones using the supplied dongle and started to set them up. I had to log into my Sony account (you will be prompted to set one up if you don't have one). You are then prompted to download the 360 Spatial Sound app by Sony. You have to log into the app with the Sony credentials to activate it. There you will be asked to take pictures of your ears. Sony also states that it will take the pictures to set up your sound profile, and then keep them on file, with no data associated with them, just FYI. Once the app analyzes your ears, it then sends you back to your PC, it sends the analyzed information to the INZONE hub on your PC and then unlocks settings for you. However (in my experience) I play the games on my PS5 and not my PC, and there was no audio reference for me. So if I want to change settings, I need to go upstairs to my media room, use the PS5, and then if I want to tweak the settings, come back downstairs to my PC, change the settings and then go back up and test them. This was a very inconvenient way of checking them out in my opinion, making them not that user friendly. When connected to my PS5 controller now, the sound was way better than originally set up right out of the box, so you DO HAVE TO set them up before you use them. However, I found that when the volume was turned up, they completely changed the sound of the game I was playing (Call of Duty BO7) making gunshots sound a lot more tinny, even tho I had the sound set to bass boost. I found that turning the volume down helped adjust that tinny-ness, and evened out the sound scape, but at a detriment of the sound not being quite as loud as I would like it. And then there was the spatial sound, the H6 Air just simply felt a lot more 'flat' and a lot less like I was in an open space, than the H9 II wireless set that I am used to. I could clearly hear left and right, that is a given, but it was a little more difficult to tell when someone was behind me, if they were above me or below me, like I am used to. The sound isn't their only challenge, the ear pads are a soft material and not a vinyl material, which makes them less comfortable (in my opinion) as they get warm very quickly, so I kept having to adjust them on my head. The vinyl type material on the H9 II is a lot more comfortable on longer gaming sessions. Overall, if you have to comparison to other Sony INZONE gaming headphones, and you are prepared to take the time to set them up to your liking, then you may well enjoy them. But from someone who has used different Sony INZONE products for several years now, these are NOT my favorite set to use. Being wired isn't a great experience (for me) lack of visual cues for mute and unmute (the H9 II has a red LED that shows on the mic) and the material of the ear cups just didn't work for me this time.
Posted
Thank you for the detailed feedback, Cupra!
We’re glad you appreciate our eco-friendly packaging, but we’re sorry to hear the INZONE H6 Air didn't live up to your experience with the H9 II. We understand that moving from a flagship wireless model to a wired setup can feel like a step back, especially regarding the lack of LED indicators and the material of the ear pads.
Your comments on the PC-based setup process and the "tinny" sound at high volumes are very helpful for our product team. For the best experience on PS5, we recommend ensuring the Tempest 3D Audio settings are also calibrated in the console menu to help with that "flat" spatial feeling you described.
We value your loyalty to the INZONE line and appreciate your honest comparison!

Maybe the most comfortable headset I have ever worn. I have a US hat size of 7 1/2 - 7 5/8 and most headsets seem too small and too tight. These are adjsutable to cover my ears properly and also not squeeze my head. They also don't seem to get hot (even after 2-3 hours of gaming or other use) and they look really nice as well. Simple headband design and adjustment, the speaker cup has a ventilated/grill shell facing out so they look different than most headsets. The packaging was excellent and the unit shipped with the standard manuals, some stickers, a nice long cord, a USB-C to 3.5mm TRS adapter, as well as a detachable microphone. The microphone is fully flexible but doesn't droop - so a plus compared to some rigid designs. Ambient noise reduction is very noticable and the sound wquality is very good - volume adjustment is on left ear, same side as the microphone, and located exactly where my thumb naturally falls when I reach up to the ear piece. No hunting around for the volume control. Wearing these for hours without getting sweaty ears or hot ears is a real nice change. All things considered, I am super impressed with these and will definitely recommend to friends and family.

First off, comfort is definitely where these shine. Sony really did a good job making them feel super light on your head, which is a big plus for someone like me who might wear them for an hour or two while trying to get through a game. They weigh practically nothing, like 199 grams, so you almost forget they're there. My ears don't get all sweaty and hot like they used to with my old closed-back headphones, and I think that's down to the open-back design. It's nice to have that breathability, especially during a longer raid or when I'm just trying to relax with a single-player game. The earcups are soft, and the headband doesn't pinch or feel too tight, which is good because I hate that pressure feeling. I’ve worn them for extended periods and haven’t really felt any discomfort, which is a rare thing for me with headsets. Now, on to the sound, which is probably the most important part for a pair of gaming headphones. The sound quality is decent, it really is. Everything sounds pretty clear, and I can hear footsteps and game effects alright. They talk about these high-fidelity drivers that are inspired by their professional studio headphones, and you can tell there's some good tech in there. However, and this is where my "okay" sentiment comes in, for a wired connection, I was really expecting something more immersive and impactful. They're good, don't get me wrong, but they don't quite hit that "wow" factor I was hoping for. It feels a bit flat sometimes, even with the 360 Spatial Sound features when hooked up to my PC. I played around with the "RPG/Adventure" EQ mode, and it makes things a little different, but not dramatically better to my ears. I just feel like if I'm tethered to my console or PC, that wired connection should deliver a more premium audio experience than what I'm getting. It’s hard to put my finger on it, but it just doesn’t have that richness or punch I’ve heard from other headphones, even some cheaper ones I’ve tried in the past. The open-back design, while great for comfort and making the sound feel more "out-of-head," does mean that sound leaks out quite a bit, and ambient noise comes in. This isn't really a problem for me since I mostly game in my quiet home office after everyone's asleep. But if you live in a busy household or have people around while you're playing, they're probably going to hear bits of your game, and you're definitely going to hear them. It's a trade-off, and for me, it's manageable, but it’s something to be aware of if you're looking for total isolation. I almost missed the doorbell the other day while wearing these, so you can definitely still hear what's going on around you. Setup was a breeze, as promised. You just plug them in, and they work. I’ve used them with my PS5 controller via the 3.5mm jack, and also with my PC using the included USB-C Audio Box to get those extra spatial features. Both connections were straightforward, and I didn't have to fuss around with any complicated software installations to get basic functionality, which is always a relief. The detachable microphone is a nice touch too. It’s a bidirectional boom mic with some AI noise reduction, and my friends online said I sounded clear enough, so no complaints there. It does a pretty good job of cutting out background noise, like the hum of my PC fan or the dog snoring in the corner, which is good for those late-night team chats. Considering the price, which was about $199 when I bought them, I'm a bit on the fence. They're really comfortable and easy to use, and the sound is perfectly acceptable for gaming. But calling them "audiophile-grade" might be a stretch for my ears, especially when comparing them to other wired options out there that cost around the same. I guess I just expected a bit more sonic punch for the money and the "premium" branding. If comfort and ease of use are your absolute top priorities, and you game in a quiet environment, these will do the trick. If you're really chasing that next-level sound experience from a wired headset, you might find yourself in the same boat as me – thinking they're just okay. They'll definitely serve their purpose for me, but I wouldn't rush out to tell all my buddies they *have* to get them.

Hi Derek_T,
We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the lightweight comfort and breathability of the INZONE H6 Air (MDR-G600). Regarding the audio punch, we recommend using the INZONE Hub software on your PC to further customize your experience beyond the presets. Adjusting the "Clear Bass" slider or creating a custom EQ profile can often provide that extra richness and impact you're looking for. Please also ensure that the "Personalized 360 Spatial Sound" is set up in the Hub for the most immersive results during PC gameplay.
Thanks for choosing Sony.
Best regards,
Eliab

The new Sony H6 Hair openback headphones are really something special when you are talking about elevating your audio gaming experience. First off they are wired if you couldn't tell but the sound experience is incredible. They are open back style headphones which means there will be some sound bleed if you are near other ppl with them but you get a much more robust sound overall. These things can get loud too if you choose, the volume dial on the headset is a nice touch. Also enjoy the detachable mic if you just want to game in solo mode. The inzone app you can get on PC, has some really nice RPG style settings that let you get really immersed in your fantasy adventure. The included USB-C type adapter means you can snap these into a phone if you choose as well plug and play. I found wearing these for hours on end was super comfy and I even plugged them into my phone and worked around the house just fine. The mic is decent but don't expect any next level noise cancellation here, but it get's the job done. I've used wireless gaming headsets my whole life and this really changed my view on how a wired connection can really change how you view audio, plug and play on PS5 as well as PC. At the price point these are a great value from Sony. Would highly recommend if you want to get immersed in your next RPG adventure and let the world around you fall away.
