A: You can't simply rate the battery on hours or number of photos. The number of times you turn it on and off, zoom, and view your photos all use battery life. I can tell you that I used mine on a trip to the Amazon and Galapagos where I took over 2300 Photos and several videos. I had the camera on for a couple hours a day and took 150 to 300 photos each day with zooming in or out on each one. I only had to replace the battery once in the field. I did have the opportunity to partially charge the battery in the middle of the day most of the time. I would always recommend a spare battery. I found two batteries and charger on Amazon for about $15.00.
Q: What is the battery life like?
A: I shot over 700 photos yesterday and this is still going strong. I have it set for shutting off after one minute and I'm thinking that makes the difference. I had a second battery with me just in case, but didn't need it. Pretty awesome, I'd say :)
A: The Nikon COOLPIX B700 digital camera has an EVF Auto Toggle switch that can be turned on and off in the Setting Menu. Turning it to the "Off" setting will let you bring your face close to the viewfinder without triggering the EVF. Placing the setting back to "On" will allow the eye sensor to respond to your close proximity and trigger the camera to switch from the monitor to the viewfinder.
A: The Nikon COOLPIX B700 digital camera comes with everything you need to enjoy using your Nikon camera right away. In the box with the camera will be a EN-EL23 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, an EH-73P Charging AC Adapter, a UC-E21 USB Cable, an LC-CP29 Lens Cap and a AN-CP21 Strap.
Q: It says to buy two memory cards...one is ultra, and one is extreme...don't I just need one?
A: The terms "Ultra" and "Extreme" are used by memory card vendors to distinguish the different series of their card products. When purchasing memory cards it is more important to understand the details below than the terms Ultra and Extreme. The Nikon B700 camera supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards. These terms or labels are defined in the industry-standard SD memory card specification documents. SD (Secure Digital) cards can store up to 2GB of data, SDHC (SD High Capacity) cards can store from 2GB to 32GB of data, and SDXC (SD Extended Capacity) can store 32GB up to 2TB of data. The larger the capacity, the more images can be stored on a single card. However, if the camera is set to take pictures at its highest resolution, the number of pictures that can be stored on a single card will be smaller than when the camera is set to take lower resolution pictures. For use in the B700 the SD card should have a speed class rating of 6 or above. The speed class is noted on the typical SD card with a symbol in the shape of a "C" with a number inside the letter. Class 10 cards are about the fastest cards available today. When purchasing memory cards for this camera, larger capacity SDHC and SDXC cards each with a Class 10 speed rating are the most cost effective for storing images. Having an additional card available when the card in the camera is full is always a good idea.
A: I chose the B700 for several reasons: 1. The B700 is 20mp instead of 16mp for the P900, so that's a plus. 2. The B700 can shoot in RAW, which gives you better "raw" pictures. That will really help the quality of the output (prints) 3. The P900 is 83x zoom, while the B700 is 'only' 60x, but both are incredibly long, so it didn't matter to me. 4. The B700 shoots 4k video which I like.
Q: in the macro mode and a closeup of .4 to inf what zoom are you able to achieve.
A: When the B700 is set to Macro focusing it is at the wide end of the camera's zoom range. It will not macro focus to 0.4 inches past that.
Q: is there a closeup lens adapter for the b700
A: The COOLPIX B700 - when placed in the camera's Macro Mode - has a close-up range or 0.4 inches to infinity. It does not require, nor does it have available, a close-up lens adapter.
