I purchased the camera to replace my old one. I was sad to have to get a new one, but I did some research and found this particular camera. First off, it's waterproof. I've taken shots in the rain. They're beautiful, and it's impossible to get them with many other cameras. Being light weight means you can hold it at awkward angles without feeling like your arms are falling off. This is a plus when you're climbing on trees for an elevated shot. The battery has lasted me two months so far. It's possible to buy extra batteries for a nominal price. Also available is a battery dock to keep multiple batteries charged. It features multiple filter settings as well as options for various types of shots. Close ups, night shots, and more. The display is HD so you can see if a shot is good or bad, and delete accordingly. So far, I use this camera often until I can afford to replace my DSLR. This isn't good for close ups of butterflies or other moving targets. Also, once you set it to close up, it is a pain to remove that setting.

Yes, I know, most people these days use their smart phones to take pictures. But I started using a camera at 5, and continue to do so at 70. This waterproof Nikon was fully tested on a recent fishing trip when it rained liked the end of the world was coming. Good pictures and very intuitive to use. I would make two changes: its smooth surface can be difficult for wet, fish-slimed hands to hold and the movie button is too easy for big hands to easily start up.

I purchased this for my son's birthday (10). He's experienced with my expensive DSLR and wanted a smaller camera of his own. I chose this because he loves the water, and it's impact resistant, and I love Nikon. He's good, but he's a 10 yr old boy. I am so happy with this purchase. He's had it about 4 months now, and through one vacation, and it's been perfect. The pictures and videos are great quality. No issue with the seals leaking. He is meticulous about keeping it clean after each use, so I'm sure that helps. It's size makes it ideal for him to take with him to places without it being bulky. He's taken pictures in lakes, pools, ponds (he likes to video while he's fishing), you name it. It was easy for him to learn how to use and to care for. It's gotten more use in the last 4 months than most cameras get in a year (he's my son, it rubbed off). It's also seen action almost like a GoPro, but has held up beautifully. I'm thrilled with this buy so far.

My son has fallen in love with photography just like me, and was asking for his own digital camera, but a good one. I wanted something durable because it's for a young boy, but sharp pics and not too complicated to use. I love Nikon, and he loves the water, so this is what we landed on. I was a little nervous as the Coolpix had mixed reviews, and this was newer so had none. I'm so happy I went with this. It takes beautiful pictures, and having experience with my camera he picked this up so fast. He loves the underwater feature, and is meticulous in cleaning after each adventure. For a durable, simple, on the go camera that takes good pictures I highly recommend. He's in love with it. Can't wait for the next beach vacation to snorkel with.

My family and I took this camera on snorkeling adventures. It takes pictures well and holds up in underwater conditions. It is a little hard to use under water. Something that should be played with before hand to fully understand controls

Bought this camera as a vacation backup & to take to the beach. Love that it's waterproof. Good quality images, video capability, and it uses the same cards as my other cameras. Happy to stick with Nikon!

Was purchased because it's waterproof. It goes with me when I go hunting and fishing. Compact and waterproof. Takes great pictures.

We got this thinking the waterproof and anti-shock features would be useful, and because I always liked Nikon's traditional film cameras. Now I wish I'd done more research. I need to practice more, but I now wonder if I should have spent the money on features I'll use more. I do like that it pairs with my phone for photo storage, but actually, the pictures taken with the phone in the first place are about as good. I was able to share pix once they were stored on the phone, so that was nice. But I don't care about adding borders or makeup, and have begun to think I should have spent the money on more basic features. (One note if you get it: make sure the SD card is properly seated, or you will be working from camera memory only.)

This was my first time just using a compact waterproof digital camera on vacation and I couldn't be happier! Easy to operate and quality photos and videos to show at the end of our Caribbean cruse. So much easier to use than my full size Digital camera! Took great pictures and video of our dolphin encounter, and you can't beat Nikon!

Camera worked great! Took it para-sailing. Easy to use even when suspended several hundred feet in the air. Took stills and video, all turned out great.

I needed a camera to record and paste to reports. The picture files are too big for my purpose. I needed something that takes a lower grade pic so as not to take up too much space as it refers to the internet. The camera and picture quality is great. Just not for what I needed.

Bought this for a snorkeling trip. The pictures it took underwater were ok. It was hard to see the screen underwater and I accidentally took several videos because the video button is in a bad spot on the top corner. While not perfect I was happy with it.

I bought this camera originally because it's waterproof, but it turns out to be a great everyday use camera. Took awesome fireworks photos as well!

The battery goes dead after about 75 photos. I purchased it as I take a lot if outside photo do if it rains I wanted a waterproof camera. The battery goes dead in way quicker than any other camera I have used

I got this camera for my grand daughter so far she likes every thing about it. The picture quality is good. Only downside is the voice is a little muffled.
