The MX1280 GEN2 is a 6-zone, 12-channel Class D amplifier for residential and commercial distributed audio systems requiring reliable power across many rooms. Each channel supplies 80W into 4 ohms and 50W into 8 ohms, and every zone includes a bridge switch that combines both channels into a single 160W output at 8 ohms. The GEN2 revision adds front-panel on and off buttons for each stereo zone, so unused areas can be shut down individually to reduce power consumption without touching the rear panel or a control system. Independent zone control with global and per-zone triggering lets each area run its own source through its line input, or follow a shared feed through Bus In 1 and Bus In 2. Signal auto-sensing powers the amplifier up when audio is detected and down when it stops. Protection circuitry guards against thermal overload and short circuits. The slim 2U chassis is rack mountable with hardware included and pairs with the CONTROL12 for a complete distributed audio setup.

Twelve channels arranged as six stereo zones deliver 50W RMS per channel at 8 ohms and 80W RMS per channel at 4 ohms, with 160W maximum per channel. Each zone has independent output level control, making one chassis enough for a six-room residence or a multi-area commercial background music system.
New to the GEN2 revision, front-panel buttons switch each stereo zone on or off individually. Unused areas draw no amplifier power, which improves energy efficiency in installations where only part of the system runs at a time, and gives quick manual control without a separate control system.
A bridge switch on each zone internally combines both channels through a single left-input connection for 160W maximum at 8 ohms. Larger rooms, longer speaker runs or higher-output areas get the power they need without adding another amplifier to the rack.
Each zone provides a line input plus Bus In 1 and Bus In 2 with pass-through outputs, so zones share a source or run separately. A bus global 12V trigger with independent zone triggering supports coordinated or per-zone startup. Signal auto-sensing powers up on detection and down when audio stops.
The 16.81 by 3.46 by 16.14 inch chassis mounts in a standard rack with included hardware and runs cool on efficient Class D amplification.
