OtterBox - Commuter Series Soft Shell Case for Apple iPhone 7, 8 and SE (2nd generation) - Black

I had this case for over a year already and my phone is in about the same condition as when I got this case though the covered by the lightning port got annoying it started tearing eventually and then in the end I ripped it off and after taking the phone out of the case a few times one time when I was trying to put the phone back in the plastic part of the case on the bottom, got a little crack but it’s still fine.

The commuter case is more boxy than the symmetry case. It’s basic and thin with two layers of protection. Keeps phone safe despite some drops and fits easily in back pocket. There’s a clip for power cord access.

I always try, buy the best covers, for different reasons, for example at work, I'm a security systems technician, most of the time I work it going up and down very high stairs, that's why I use this type of cell phone protector .

Bottom Line: Otterbox Commuter case is the perfect balance of protection and practicality. Pros: Great protection, easy to install and remove, charging port cover Cons: Adds some weight and bulk to the phone Review: My wife (who also lets our toddler play with her phone) is rough on phones and, subsequently, phone cases. In the past year, the two of them have managed to literally rip the previous case to pieces. Additionally, we had to get a replacement iPhone because the Lightning port stopped working on the original one. I considered a lot of different cases (including other Otterboxes) and chose the Commuter series, because it met all of the conditions we needed in a case: durability, slim enough to fit in a back pocket, and could accomodate a glass screen protector. The case is made of two materials: a soft rubber that wraps the entire device (to absorb impact) and a hard plastic that offers structure and rigidity. Together, the case is really durable and (so far) has deterred my daughter from trying to tear the case around the button coverings and port. I also like that there’s a flap to cover the port to prevent dirt from getting in. The extra protection that the Commuter series offers does add some additional weight and bulk to the phone. However, if you’re someone who tends to be rough on phones, it’s a fair tradeoff for the additional protections this case offers.
