I have used the Otterbox Defender Series cases for the past 15+ years. This is the first time I have been disappointed in the design. The camera button 3cm notch is a flawed design. Without dropping the phone, the phone has sustained a screen protector crack on one occasion, and a screen/ screen protector crack on a second occasion. I tried to submit a warranty claim to exchange for a different model without the cutout, but the Chatbot states I can only exchange like for like. Very disappointing. I don't want another flawed Otterbox case. Paid $75 for this case at Best Buy!

Otterbox is the best, I’ve been buying Otterbox for 14 years straight since I was in high school. However, this case in particular does not protect the phone fully due to it being left unprotected from its camera button side. My phone sustained damage due to that opening. C’mon otterbox you’re better than this

I purchased the defender series case for my new iPhone 16 pro max and noticed the case cut out for the camera button and was concerned it would not adequately protect the screen in that area. I purchased a screen protector just in case and have had my phone 3 days and I drop it once and landed right on that unprotected area and cracked the screen protector, I feel this is a serious design flaw from a company that I have used for 20+ years for all my phones going back to the 3GS because of the great protection they offer I will be returning this case and looking for a different case that fully protects my $1500 phone I am very sorry that they don’t have any options that don’t have that cut out

Thai is the worse case that otterbox has ever made. The material is cheap and no screen protector and then it costs more! Very disappointed.

I have used the defender series case for years on all of my phones. It's grip and drop protection are unmatched. However, the totally exposed edge design due to the camera button cut out is totally unacceptable. This was probably some design committee vote that went wrong. All over the web you see this concern met with the following same old feel-good robotic, boiler plate corporate responses from Otterbox: The new and improved designed cases work seamlessly with Apple's new camera control button on the Apple iPhone 16 line of cases. Our engineering team not only found that the new notch does not diminish the drop protection of the case, we also re-engineered these cases to be Drop+ 7x rated. Please give our Customer Service Team a call, or reach out to us via chat, and we are happy to help with any other questions or concerns you may have. The problem is they CAN'T help with this concern without a redesign of this case. There are numerous other case providers who DO provide appropriate protection for this camera button but Otterbox is apparently leveraging their years long reputation and loyalty without addressing this. Very sad to see because this one is a no-brainer. You can't call your case a "defender" when you have so much exposed raw phone left undefended. It is not only about "drop-protection", but also about edge protection. You do not have to drop this phone at all to incur damage with this case. Your phone can simply bump or slide with nominal contact to do damage. Please do better Otterbox and fix this lazy design.

Several weeks after purchasing this case, my phone fell and unfortunately chipped and cracked the screen protector precisely where the cutout on the camera sensor is located. It is evident that Otterbox engineers have made a significant design oversight with this case. As a loyal customer of Otterbox Defender cases for nine years, I have never encountered such a disappointing experience. For the first time in nearly a decade, I have decided to purchase a case from one of their competitors.

A major retailer puts these on sale every year just around Thanksgiving time for a small fraction of the retail price; and Best Buy will NOT price match from November something until December 3rd because they are consider "Black Friday" sales. Best Buy's "sale" price on these are lots higher than the major US retailer (more than double). I will be returning the one I purchased from BB for refund. Also, starting this year, Otterbox has stopped including the outer kickstand case saying it is for planet sustainability reasons (lol), but they will mail you one with a code inside the box, and there is a price and shipping that they "waive". I am sure that will change next year.

Got this case because I have always used Otter boxes, but this is the first time I am disappointed. It will protect your phone, the only major flaw is the right side camera button. It will most likely break your screen or screen protector if the phone falls and the point of contact starts from that side. I had dropped my phone a couple of times but when it hit the side of the table, it completely shattered my screen protector. I would keep replacing my screen protector because somehow during work it will start to crack from there. Past Otterboxes never had this problem from my experience.

The worst phone cases in the history of phone cases don’t know how to explain it, but just by looking at it and once I try it on my phone it’s a big note for me. I’m uncomfortable to hold in a hand. The cut out for the action button is awful. Will not recommend this.

This case is a complete rip off. It has no screen protector on it. The face is completely open so if you drop it the screen can get destroyed. I was in shock when I received it to see the screen was not protected. Called Best Buy about this problem and they said I could buy a screen protector for another 53.00. So, this was 64.00 for case plus additional 53.00 to protect your phone screen. I expected more out of Otter Box than this. (A complete rip off) Do not buy this unless you want just part of your new I phone protected

I don’t need to reiterate how flawed the full cut out design is on these cases. Every other manufacturer relized this and pit in a button, even Ofterbox on other cases. Despite this huge flaw i have kept using it off and on with Apples silicon case after breaking two screen protectors under light bumps in my pocket. What no one has mentiion if how unpleasant the hand feel is around the camera button cutout. It want to pull away and roll off the end of the phone with the slightest pressure. Holding it in mu right hand feels like i am clicking a button on the edge of my finger and palm. This is my least ised case and a waste of my hard earned money.

I dropped my phone from about waist high, straight on the back. Sigh of release cause it wasn’t the screen. Until I seen the glass around the camera lenses was shattered, no big deal. Then I removed the case. The whole back of my phone was shattered. I didn’t even know the 16 pro max has glass on the back but it does. So a case that has a hard case, a padding on that hard case and the exterior silicon case didn’t stop my phone from shattering at a waste height drop is pretty sad. Especially from a company that claims it’s “ For 7X military standard drop defenses”.

Terrible design. I’ve had otterbox for 10+ years. Now looking at other brands that don’t have a chunk missing out of the case for a button. Will not purchase again and do not recommend. I’ve never cracked a screen until now. Terrible design.

I have had my iphone 16 pro max in this case since first week in May. In that time - i have gone thru 4 screen protectors bc they keep cracking where the case leaves the side of phone unprotected.

Returned the day after I bought it. The cut out for the camera provides no protection for the phone.

I was told this was returnable before i bought it. When i recieved it i called best buy to return it and was told there was nothing they could do and it wasnt returnable. This was still within the two week period. Best buy has lost a customer for life

Ordered it only. The computer system in the store gives a different color then what it states on line. It’s been a nightmare trying to return it

I have used Otterbox cases for every iPhone I have had. But this case is by far the WORST case design from them-ever. I’m so disappointed.
