Sound quality from stock is improved from stock unit. The only positive. I'm old school and listen to the radio. Pioneer used to be known for improved RF, not in this unit. To the point where stations that used to be good in town have poor coverage and forget driving out of town, signal runs out at least 2 miles sooner. Radio reset itself losing all programed stations (no, I did not push the button to find the strongest stations). Weblink software needs significant improvement. I turn on the unit, plug in the cable, it will not show connected. I unplug and reconnect and it will start to download files (not sure why it has to do that every time). It will intermittently blank the screen while using the weblink and I must unplug and re-plug it back in. I've tried multiple cables just in case, same results. Using Waze was interesting. While using Waze (and this could be a user issue), it would show on my phone screen and the DMH-342-EX. One thing I couldn't do was listen to the radio and have Waze running at the same time. If you have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler you will lose your compass on the dash. Not a big deal, but I wasn't aware that would happen. One additional note, the integration harness that Best Buy included wasn't completely correct and the installer did have to make an adjustment but that was only for steering wheel controls. I have returned the unit and I'm waiting to install another Pioneer Model DMH-1500EX. Wish me luck!

I think I have a lemon. After 2 weeks, the am radio stopped working. Then a few days later, the unit completely stopped working (pressing the reset button fixed it). Since then, the unit freezes and needs to be restarted. Unit is still less than a month old. As for functionality, the unit does not have a mute button, which is very annoying when my kids are in the car or my phone rings.

I am sorry to hear you are not happy with the DMH-342EX.
If you connect your phone via Bluetooth, it will mute the radio when you receive a call.
Also, press and hold the Home icon, it has 4 little squares, this will mute the radio too.

Did not work for my car at all. It wasn’t compatible with the features in my car which is a 17 Nissan murano. I tired to return it just 2 weeks of being install only to find out I can. I would say don’t buy this radio. I only need to replace my door speakers my car.

The factory systems have evolved to a point where you need a special interface and the radio would have to be compatible.

Took it out of the box. Plugged it in. Dead screen. Doesnt work at all. Didnt get to use it for 5 minutes. Bought it, it was cold out. Its nicer and went to put it in. Bestbuy.com said call someone who cares basically. Shouldnt there be a warranty at least?

About a month after having this installed It would no longer stay on a station. It will randomly change stations and not stay on. It's super frustrating because I bought two of them and both of them do this. I can only use Bluetooth to listen to music.

Disconnect anything you have connected to the SWC (steering wheel control) port. If the problem no longer occurs, your steering wheel control adapter may be bad or need to be reprogrammed.
When the unit randomly changes stations, source, or volume on it's own, this is usually the cause.
On the DMH-342EX, Bluetooth is only for phone calls and streaming music. It does not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

I bouth this head unit thinking it was a better upgrade then my previous andriod radio. The radio does not have apple play for phone. The usb cord that comes with it doesnt recognize my phone. It keeps shutting of the volume and power to my amp i keep getting a error msg if i turn the vilume up. Im gonna send this back and get something else dont waist ur time or money
this radio would not pick up stations, so its not of use for me as well its hard to disconnected from phone calls sometimes and you have to restart your Bluetooth thru the phone after hanging up from phone call and if you are used to have a CD player this is not the system for you. My overall take is the total design is flawed so I will be returning.

haven't been able to see what the radio is like yet because bestbuy was suppose to install it 2 months ago and they cancelled again on me today for the second time wouldnt recommend bestbuy to my worst enemy

Good job on the installation. But i was talked out of installing some parts which now is giving a annpying humming sound when i turn the radio. Good tech but his head seemed out of it during installation. Now i need to take it in again or try to fix that annoying sound.....

The DMH-342EX does have limited navigation application compatibility.
If you want Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you would want to look at a different model, like the DMH-1770NEX.
