Fast response time - improves FPS kill ration
I would buy this controller again (and did). We (my son and I) each use one of these on separate xbox ones). I bought this controller for three reasons - first it's wired (thus faster than wireless), second it has programmable buttons, and third - because it is professional I thought it would be more resiliant in use. First - concerning mic muting - the package and internal documentation is a little miss-leading in that you cannot control the microphone or volume through the controller unless you go through the Xbox menu or the game menu. You cannot instantly mute the mic on a headphone directly through the controller. Second - you cannot actually program the thing to do anything with the programmable buttons except move for example the "X" button to one of the four programmable buttons. You cannot program the buttons to do a series of button presses for example to simulate button presses and mute the mic (or do anything else). The in the box (clearly not by english speakers) instructions seem to say "expect a software release to allow muting". Contacted the firm (very slow to respond - they took many days without a peep) and they said "oh - that was for the xbox software" and "you can always use the mute button on your headphones". This tells you clearly they are not real gamers and second tells you how long ago they made this stuff (xbox has been mutable through the menus for a long time). For serious gaming with teams it is vitally important to be able to mute a mic in game while continuing to play without removing your hands from the controller. Reaching to your headset and fiddling with buttons or going to the xbox menu and fighting the menu to mute and un-mute the mic takes precious seconds during which you are totally out of action. You can easily miss a kill or be killed and points matter to you or your team members (if that is your thing). You can be toasted just while trying to mute the mic. Second - the term "programmable buttons" is VERY miss-leading. In english what does "programmable" imply to the reader? They added 4 buttons to the controller and all the additional buttons can do is emulate 1 button each which you get to pick - that is it. so if you want programmable button 4 to be the X button - it can. Third gripe is the controller has a very weird slightly off hand size and button placement. I have average male hand size and my son has smaller hands than mine and the controller in-hand feels like it's been made for someone smaller than either of us. My son has found a way to effectively use one button of the additional four they provide (for the x button). My son is an unbelievable FPS player in PvP. When he is on your team - you win - that's it. So if m son is telling us the controller is weird shaped and the button placement is pretty bad - then it is - and his hands are a little smaller than mine. I agree with his thoughts as I cannot make effective use of the buttons either due to finger placement and grip configuration of the controller. Bottom line - the controller is faster than a wireless controller which was one of our objectives. If that is one of your objectives - buy it. It does have additional buttons and you can make each button "act like" one of the other buttons on the controller - it is NOT programmable in any real sense. Third - pay attention to the grip and make sure you are comfortable with how it feels and where the "extra" buttons are - as this cannot be changed. You will find it will be hard to adjust how you use your hands if you are a long time gamer. In a positive sense - so far (30 days) the controller has lasted longer in-use than any of the xbox controllers that came from Xbox. I have strong hands and get into the games and frankly (search the web for controller failures) almost all of the controllers fail a lot specifically either of the two joy sticks on the controller as you push them down and move them in all the directions you are supposed to move. If you push a little too hard (down or in any direction) you almost always will ruin the controller. In addition - none of these controllers have user serviceable parts (search the web for DIY xbox controller repair) and see for yourself. However if you have gentle hands and control your in-game excitement all controllers will last a long time. My son has never killed a controller this way (my daughter - also a gamer has killed one) but I have killed 4 controllers this way (always the right joystick). This controller has lasted the longest so far but I'm also being very careful (and my FPS PvP scores show it). All in - the next step up is a real professional gaming controller that costs a couple hundred bucks. For the typical person this controller is a good buy and will help improve your game a tiny amount. it cannot work miracles but if you are an enthusiast and play a lot of games the 25 milliseconds extra you get matters. Last comment - that additional response boost from the controller is totally wasted unless you also have a TV connected the right way to the xbox so you can make use of that extra speed. Read up on your TV and evaluate how fast your TV responds to changes (in the picture from the xbox). Most TVs take longer to display input changes from the xbox (or playstation) than it takes a wireless controller to respond. Many TVs from several manufacturers have only one port on the TV designed for gaming (often but not always HDMI port 5). If you do not have your entire gaming rig (including the TV) set up for gaming - a faster controller will not matter (with the exception that you will not have the hassle of batteries always failing in-game). I will buy another one of these if the need arises.

Great controller for the money
I was skeptical but in the end I really liked this controller. It is wired so maybe not good for a large living room setup but fine for a bedroom or office setup. The programmable rear buttons are low profile and the lights on the front are fun and nice to look at. Price match on Amazon for the lowest price. And get the insurance. It's worth the extra couple bucks. Upgrade with it in a year or so or when you have extra dough trade this controller for the elite.

Not for me, but maybe for you
I didn't like this controller, since you can't put Kontrol Freeks on it. If you don't use Kontrol Freeks, then it seems to be a nice controller. I found the buttons on the bottom to be a bit awkward, but I have large hands. My brother seems to love it. I would say if you want a wired controller this would be the best that you can get. I ended up with a xbox elite controller. That one can't use KF's either, but they have premade sticks that are taller. Love it!
