Q: what is the motion -- does it just go up and down
A: No, it has a walking motion to it. Look at the different pictures and you will see the pedals in different positions.
A: It only needs to be done the first time.
A: The pedal height at minimum position from the floor is 11.50 inches and maximum vertical position is 19.5 inches from the floor. Of course the knees are bending but a minimum of an eight foot ceiling in the room this will be used would be required.
