Robert Scherman had a very interesting career as a record producer during the 1940s, 1950's and 1960's. This explores some of his lesser known efforts. Most of these recordings are intended for cross-over marketing. They seem to feature R&B type rhythm (or rockabilly), vocal group backing, and a tenor sax break or guitar break. The feel is decidedly reminiscent of King/Federal, for whom Robert Scherman produced many successful sessions. An interesting mix of artists was chosen to give an accurate picture of the range of material that Scherman released on Skylark, Tampa and Jem, among other labels. Album Tracks 1. Shuffle Boogie 2.
