About This Item
Brand new Republic P-47 Thunderbolt Fighter Aircraft “The Jug” United States Army Air Forces steel model kit by Metal Earth, featuring a highly detailed exterior and equipped with landing gear. This officially licensed model kit comes in a brand new box, includes 48 parts, and has no openings. The assembled dimensions are approximately 5.3 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, and 1.9 inches high. No glue or paint is required for assembly, though tweezers or similar tools are recommended. The P-47 Thunderbolt served as a high-altitude escort fighter and a low-level fighter-bomber for the Allied forces during World War II. Powered by a 2,000-horsepower Pratt & Whitney radial engine, it was the largest, heaviest, and most expensive fighter aircraft in history to be powered by a single piston engine. Its thick and massive appearance earned it the nickname “The Jug.”
