I love my Ring products and these PAR38 LED Outdoor bulbs are a great addition to my backyard porch. Setup was mostly easy, although after installing the first, adding the second was problematic as the app kept confusing it as the first. I had to temporarily power off the first one then add the second. Also, during setup a firmware upgrade happened automatically. When that completed the app said the light couldn't connect to the bridge. This was only momentarily and did reconnect on its own. I suspect the light had to reboot or something and lost connection to the bridge for that. Patience. The one thing I do not like is that you cannot share smart lights with other users as you can with other Ring Devices. Tech support confirmed this with me after troubleshooting. So, for now only I can manage the lights. This is an inconvenience, but I have a workaround: since Alexa can control the lights, my wife merely asks Alexa to turn them on/off. She can't edit their configuration, but thats ok. At least we have a way for both of us to control them on/off via Alexa and the Alexa app. Overall, I have very happy with the lights.

I didn’t know that I had to spend more money to get this working. You have to buy a bridge so it’s actually just being used as just a flood light.

For the amount of light this bulb puts out, which is a lot, I definitely recommend getting it because it is controlled by the Ring system and the Ring app on your smart phone. The cost is a low end way to add to your Ring system for high end light output.

The light bulb works great for producing light (as expected). I have other lights on the app as well as this one and many other devices. The app functionality of the light is just okay.

Works okay. Software could be better. When the power goes out the schedules get screwed up and the light stays on sometimes. Also loses the brightness setting.

Set up was extremely easy. These lights are very bright which is exactly what I was looking for. However you can adjust the the brightness in the app.

So I installed the lights outside, but then I read you cannot use in sensor lights. So I took them off right away. :(

Looks great in black. Wished there was a daylight light color version. Haven't really had a good try/test on the bulb. Mainly because the screw on portion of this Ring bulb is shorter than standard PAR38 bulbs. This doesnt allow it to make the proper contact with our light fixture.

Could be better and wish it came in a 2 pack. Also 1 color only not a multi color or balck light. Just a plain light for flood lights

Picking up another for the house! Great performance.

I bought several of these to remotely control lights around the back of our yard. After a power failure, some of the outdoor lights stay on - even in the daytime. You can't shut them off, except by cutting their power. Then they come back on when you turn the power back on. Now it's too late to return them to Best Buy. Very disappointed.

Hello GadgetGuy,
We are always looking for ways to better our neighbor experience, and your feedback is an invaluable part of this process. That is why we are driven to create products that help you protect what matters most at home and empower you to connect with your neighbors from wherever you are. The Ring PAR38 wifi Smart Bulb is designed to shine up to 1500 lumens of white light. You are able to connect to the Ring Bridge, Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen), or Echo (4th Gen) to enable customizable smart controls in the Ring app and sync with other Ring Smart Lights and select Ring doorbells, cameras and Alexa-enabled devices. We’re eager to provide you with steps to resolve the concerns you mentioned in your review.
One of the most powerful ways to use your Ring lights and cameras is to group them together using the “Groups” function in the Ring app. Grouping your Smart Lights allows them to react intelligently to events that happen on your property. You can, for example, turn on all the lights on one side of the house when any single Smart Light device or Cam in that group detects motion. You can also turn on and off and control large numbers of Smart Lights without having to use them individually. The ways you can use Groups are limited only by the property where you deploy them and your imagination. In terms of actual functions, you can set up Groups to:
Automatically activate all the Smart Lights in a Group to turn on whenever one member of the Group detects motion.
Manually disable specific Smart Lights in a Group to not turn on when they detect motion.
Automatically activate all members of a Group when a Ring Alarm is in entry delay or when the Alarm is going off.
Manually turn on or turn off all the Smart Lights or Cams in a Group at the same time and set how long they’ll remain on.
Set how long the lights will remain on a device in the group detects motion from 30 seconds to two minutes.
Can you please ensure that you don’t have your devices in overlapping groups or have conflicting light schedules that may be causing them to stay on? Here is a helpful article with more information: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024055772.
Additionally, if you have not already, please check out our Ring Community forum where other Ring users, like yourself, have an open discussion platform to share their experiences, as well as solutions to issues experienced: https://community.ring.com/. Thank you, Jamila with Ring
