A: No, The Xbox ally X is still an ROG Ally at its core and runs fully fledged windows, no subscription will be necesary for online play, however if you want access to gamepass, you may have to purchase gamepass PC or upgrade to gamepass ultimate if you want gamepass on xbox and pc/xbox ally.
A: I don't know about your date changing but, if you are in a hurry to get it, i would recommend the open box its a bit cheaper and the handheld came out just a couple weeks ago so all the open boxes are brand new and will come with the original box and everything that was in it.
A: If you mean by via disc then you’ll be able to use remote play which will require a stable internet connection by remotely connecting to your Xbox, otherwise any digital games that are “Xbox Play Anywhere” titles can be directly installed to the device if owned or via game pass ultimate

Many RIGHTS , Few WRONGS
PROS 1. Excellent Ergonomics: Fits comfortably in the hand, making it easy to hold for long sessions. 2. Lightweight Design: Perfect for extended use — a factor often overlooked by many reviewers. 3. Strong Performance: The 17W mode delivers impressive power and efficiency. 4. Outstanding Speakers: Loud and clear with one of the best soundstages among handhelds. 5. Whisper-Quiet Operation: Virtually silent — no distracting fan or system noise. 6. Perfect for Travel: Compact size makes it ideal for portability (though at the cost of a smaller screen). 7. Amazing handheld and great full screen experience
Awesome handheld PC, never owned one before and i liked the idea of a streamlined handheld PC that made it easier than steamdeck to have access to epic and steam and xbox. It totally delivered on everything it promised to be. Even though its an xbox branded item don't expect it to be an xbox, it is a PC so not all xbox games are avaliable but a lot of work has been done to make most new games work on PC or xbox, you'll mostly miss out on xbox classics games. Its battery is great, its not too loud but the buttons are a bit clicky. I don't ever hear the fan really but i havent had to turn it up to its max performance mode yet. It is expensive but considering its better than any laptop I've owned I'd say its worth the price. The full screen experience for the handheld is awesome, i have had zero issues and unlike early reviewers it is installed and ready to go out of the box.

Great performance, but Windows needs work
Been using the ROG Xbox Ally X for about a week, and overall it’s an awesome handheld. The new design feels solid, the battery life is much better than the original ally x, and performance in most games is excellent — smooth frame rates and no overheating issues so far. That said, for the price, I really wish it had an OLED screen. The current display is good, but not great compared to other premium devices. And Windows still feels clunky on a handheld — the Armoury Crate SE helps, but it’s buggy and not always stable. Overall, great hardware and power for its size, but the software experience still needs serious polishing.
