Have a cheapo TCL 55R655 that runs a bit warm for my 400 sq ft bedroom. So I bought a LG C2 OLED and it ran around 92 degrees front and back but the blacks were way too black to watch for my eyes so I returned it. Saw this Samsung Q80C and figured i'll give it a try since the price was $300 less and picture quality looked great. Got it home, found the baby sized remote control, set it up (18 minutes) and started watching Live PD (On Patrol Live for newbies). I keep my room at 76 degrees and don't wall my TVs. The TCL raises room temp to 78 after 4 hours of watching in Vivid mode. LG C2 raised to 77 after same time on Vivid mode. My 5 year old LG 65SK8000PUA 65" on max settings doesn't get hotter than the room, probably because it has metal rear panel for heat dissipation. This Samsung raise my room temp to 81 degrees. I began to sweat sitting my on my sofa and had to open my door to vent the heat out. I took my IR thermometer and shot few readings; Rear panel has terrible heat dissipation through that plastic, no vents. Front panel was at 100 degrees after 12 minutes of watching. If you don't mid the heat, then the TV is much easier to use than LG or Sony. The remote is tiny so get a proper sized universal remote if you're a grown adult with adult fingers, the UI is tricky at first but it's easy after few minutes of running through it. Setting up local channel list took this TV 12 minutes to finish, software update failed 3 times to finish, SmartThings is DumbThings, is never connected to this TV no matter what I did. Picture quality is very good and watching SD through 4K HDR is great but I've noticed that the TV will override my settings sometimes because I can tell when the gamma, smoothness and color temp changes compared to other TVs i ran same videos through. I would have kept it if it only ran cooler, I even adapted to that toddler remote control after 2 hours This part of the review is for those that will moan about the 'settings' on this TV; Yes, I run all my TVs on max settings to get the MAX EFFECT OF WHAT I PAID FOR! Why pay $1000 for a TV and use just 60% of it? Buy a $300 TV instead! I understand TVs these days run hotter than older TVs due to their panels needing more power for the brightness and quality, but with more power, comes more heat and you don't install a V8 engine in a 4 cylinder Honda car without upgrading the cooling system, right?

WillEks,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung Q80C TV and for your review. Watching TV for an extended period of time causes the panel to generate heat. The heat from the panel is dissipated through internal vents running along the top of the TV. The bottom, however, may feel hot to the touch after extended use. This heat, however, is not a defect and does not affect the TV's functionality.

Very pleased with this purchase. Color, sharpness, and sound are top-notch as is ease of operation. I used the Geek Squad service to deliver and install the TV and the wall-mount I also purchased. Nothing but kudos to Best Buy and the Geek Squad. I would definitely buy again.

I am extremely happy with my purchase of this tv. From the price to all the features and the fantastic visuals, I cannot complain in the slightest. Perfect size for what I wanted as well as perfect for all of my Xbox Series X visual capabilities. The refresh rate is so fast and smooth and the colors are sharp. The darks and the lights are incredible! Would absolutely reccomend buying!

I’ve owned this TV for the past 2 years now and I have had no issues with the visual display or sound at all. Recently, I have been experiencing lots of lag with this tv when closing apps, opening home page and typing on the keypad. Remote controller has some issues also. The commands on the remote are very delayed after pressing and most times the TV does not register a button was clicked. Overall not a bad TV, just doesn’t age well.

Definitely better than my previous one. Its a ery nice addition to my home. Picture quality very nice, bright. The sound is good for me, but you may want to invest in a surround sound system.
