nice, inexpensive option to add speed to your PC with an old rotational HDD. Easy to install, and the samsung tools make it super easy to transfer your OS and files from your old drive to the new one. Would recommend to those with lesser/lacking technological knowledge for that reason. These drives are fast given that they're SATA, and I've had zero issues over 3 years with my original 870 evo up until a few hiccups leading to a total failure in early November. Luckily I had preemptively created a drive image and had it ready to go when the last failed. I have no hesitations with using another new 870 EVO to replace the one prior that has failed, as I'm quite sure the failure was caused by recent power droops/spikes in the local power grid with our cold weather, as the drive had tested with 0 failed sectors the week prior to failure. If your motherboard doesnt support m.2 or PCIE ssd options, I'd recommend this to anyone looking to wake up an older PC with a new drive, or replace a recently failed SDD. With that said, I fully expected my 1tb WD Blue Sata SSD that was purchased at the same time to fail first as it's my game drive and is always virtually completely full, and gets used often, but it's still running strong after the EVO failed. If you possess the knowledge to do a complete drive transfer on your own, are willing to pay for file transfer services from a technician, or prefer to do a fresh OS install, I may be tempted to suggest a WD SSD over at least this model of Samsung SSD for that reason.

The drive itself is excellent. Samsung Magician software that is to be used to clone hard drives did NOT recognize the new Samsung hard drive or it's unique serial number. It told me "Invalid S/N number," Thinking it might be a fake I sent it back and got another. Both were packaged and sealed as the factory would do it. The second did the same thing. The software never recognized a valid S/N but finally after several hours of trying different techniques and a call to Samsung Support that was futile, it recognized a Samsung drive. It allowed the cloning process. Boo to Samsungs software glitch.

I bought this drive for my old Lenovo desktop, which kept running slower and slower. There was a dramatic improvement. So 5 stars for the drive but 1 star for Samsung's product support and software. A reasonable person who installs an internal SSD would expect to be able to make it bootable. But neither Samsung's "Magician" software nor their migration software could do that. Samsung's tech support said that since the computer wasn't a Samsung, they couldn't help me; I'd have to contact Lenovo. Lenovo wouldn't help because the machine is obsolete. I tried installing Windows on this drive from an install flash drive. It would boot but didn't work right; there were long delays with the circle-the-drain symbol on the screen, and it wouldn't shut down completely. Finally I cloned the old drive to it with Macrium Reflect, and, after two tries with the rescue disc, it worked and it's been happily ever after.

Bought 4 of these to upgrade my pcs from spinning hard drives. Good solid SSD drive with great specs and speed, price avg for the drive . Migration software is also a great feature. However I had one Lenovo AIO pc that no matter what I tried the cloned drive would not boot . But an old I7 1st gen that was taking 4-5 minutes to boot now is booting and capable of running any app in about 45 seconds.

I was tired of my old HDD making various grinding and screeching noises, so I decided to purchase a new solid state drive. This Samsung drive ended up being the best option for me due to my previous experience with Samsung products. I have been pleased with it. Whisper quiet and my old PC seems much much faster than before. Reasonable price for the 500GB, so it is a good deal.

The drive seems to be working really well now, and has gained me speed on my old laptop for sure, but the cloning process was not fun. First of all, the samsung software was not on the drive, I had to download it separately. Then, it only allowed me to clone 3 of my partitions. Then when I physically swapped the drives, the machine would not boot. I had to then re swap the drives, re clone the c drive, using different software, and later, the remaining partitions. It worked fine this time, but the whole process took me like 12 hours.

I needed a new drive to store movies to playback on my tv. Once this was attached - it was very clear that this was fastet and much more responsive that my previous drive, which broke down. Quality for movie playback did not make too much of a difference, but the reading of files and indexing take no time. The only problem (for my use) is when files get deleted, the remaining space is not properly accounted for. That could be the tv's os conflicting, but who knows. I only deal with NVME drives, but these are good for storage and to start replacing mechanical drives.

It’s a good and cheap hard drive and works really well for it’s price and I would recommend this for any low to mid range pc’s

Easy to install. Easy to configure. Unbelievably faster than a traditional HDD. A very good buy for the price.

I got it for my little brother when I was building him a pc Works as it should I have had a couple issues with mine but his is still strong I would recommend Samsung to anyone they have a app where you can transfer over everything which is nice

I purchased this to replace the failed hard drive in my computer. It made a noticeable speed difference and the computer is even better than when it was new. It uses the same connectors as the old hard drive, so it was pretty straight forward to install.

Super fast and very reliable especially running windows 11 , or storage i have 2 one for starage and one for os and it operated with the best

Great way to upgrade an old device. The price was reasonable, and I should get lots more use of this item.

This SSD has proven well in the time I've used it. Fast loading Speeds and Downloads, great for Gaming if you don't have an M.2 SSD. (Would recommend that more though) But overall, great SSD! Especially got newbies!

The drive works great for what I needed. My only issue was I asked for a 1tb drive and the cage was locked, the associate mistakenly handed me the 500gb rather than the 1tb. I didnt pay much attention to it until I had it home, open and installed. By that point in time it wasnt worth the hassle to swap it out. Operationally its doing what its supposed to.

These Samsung hard drives are great for computer operating systems. They are fast and reliable.

I would give it 5 stars, but it's kind of pointless to review a product that you have just installed in the last month or two. Ask me again 3 years from now (you won't). The key question is how well do these things hold up over time. The Samsung software seems great, and installation went well. Sure speeds up an old laptop. Fingers crossed on the longevity of this product.
