Extremely disappointed. After trying other versions of this, I went all out and spent the money for this set. It’s not good. While it is defective, the rear speakers had zero audio coming from them other than static. The subwoofer was a complete joke. I’m not sure about some of these reviews, but I will say the q800f sub is WAY better. The bar to that one isn’t very loud though.

Hi CCinAZ,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re dissatisfied with the performance of your HW-Q990F Soundbar.
The soundbar offers a wide range of audio adjustments to fine-tune the sound to your preferences. You can manually optimize your audio experience using the SOUND CONTROL button (identified by a gear icon) on the remote. This allows you to access and adjust settings like Auto EQ, SpaceFit Sound, AVA (Active Voice Amplifier), Voice Enhance Mode, Night Mode, Sync, Surround Speaker Mode, and Virtual Sound Mode. Use the Up and Down buttons to navigate and adjust each feature.
For more precise sound tuning, press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about five seconds. This enables you to adjust specific frequency bands, including 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz. You can cycle through these frequencies using the Left and Right buttons, and adjust their levels between -6 and +6 using the Up and Down buttons.
If you’d prefer a quicker way to optimize your audio, simply press the SOUND MODE button on your remote and select from STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, GAME, or ADAPTIVE SOUND modes based on your preference.
To fine-tune individual speaker channels, press the CH LEVEL button on your remote. This gives you control over levels for the Center, Side, Wide, Front Top, Rear, and Rear Top speakers. Once you've selected the desired channel, you can adjust its volume between -6 and +6 using the Up and Down buttons. There are also a couple of ways to adjust bass levels. The WOOFER button lets you increase or decrease bass by pushing forward or pulling back, with a range between -12 and +6. Pressing the button inward will reset the bass to 0. Alternatively, the TONE CONTROL button allows you to adjust both bass and treble levels within a -6 to +6 range.
For even greater convenience, you can manage all of these settings and more through the SmartThings app on your iOS or Android device. After connecting your soundbar to Wi-Fi, the app gives you a user-friendly interface to adjust and view settings right from your phone or tablet.

The bass response is lacking for something in this price range and I tried calling Samsung and found the support to be non existent. I thought maybe I had a defective subwoofer and they were not willing to even try to do anything beyond tell me just return it to Best Buy and while that is an option this is fairly heavy and packing it up would be a chore.

System works ok, but nothing special. Do like the fact that it works with our Samsung tv speakers.

Easy set up. Good with ATMOS for movies. However, lacking frequencies and depth while streaming music.
