Great sound, easy to connect with the TV, great quality!

I got these headphones for my 91 year old mother to use and she loves them. She’s pretty hard of hearing and has been using headphones for watching TV for over 15 years. She’s used various types and brands of headphones during that time and so far, these have been the best she’s used, and she generally doesn’t like the closed over the ear type. I’ve used them too and will compare them to all the headphones I’ve used and reviewed in recent years, and my review will cover that as well. I’m not going to requote specs that are already listed. I’m going to mostly talk about using them, features they have, and how they sound. The primary use of this “system” is for watching TV and there’s a lot to like about the versatility of this kit that includes the headphones and a transmitter. Depending on your TV’s age and connection options, setup can vary, here’s what I found. You can connect it to anything with an audio output. Analog via standard RCA connections or headphone port. Digital via S/PDIF - toslink optical port and HDMI. Optical out on your TV will allow everyone to listen to the TV, if desired, and not the headphone wearer only. The volume to the TV speakers and soundbar (if used) should be independent of the headphones in this configuration. It is on my Samsungs and TCL TVs. You can probably do that with HDMI, HDMI/ARC out as well, but you might need to menu dive on your TV to keep it from auto switching to the transmitter and muting the TV’s speakers. This will vary on TV brands. Analog out should keep a consistent level like optical out but it might change with the volume setting. Again, this can vary by manufacturer and be changeable in a setting menu. Using your TV’s headphone port will likely mute the speakers and most sets won’t let you change that. Some TVs, like a 2013 Samsung we had, only had 2 HDMI inputs. No audio outputs at all. You can’t use this with a TV like that. You can use the transmitter and headphones as a standalone system. Just follow directions for connecting to the TV they will be used with. They come pre-paired and its pretty much plug and play. You can download and install the control app on your phone and pair it to the transmitter to control it, select sound presets, inputs and update its firmware. You can pair headphones to your phone to listen to music and make and take phone calls, adjust EQ settings via presets or make your own and update the headphone’s firmware. You can be listening to what you’re watching on TV and take a phone call without having to remove the headphones if you set them up with app. Of course, the headphones will switch over to the phone call and it gets priority. Phone calls sounded good on both ends of the conversation. As mentioned above, not only can you listen to TV with these, but you can also use them with your phone too. Even if you don’t use the app. Just use a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect them. One thing that impressed me about the headphones is that you can get replacement parts. You can replace the battery and the ear pads, at the very least. This is a bigger deal than you might think. I’ve reviewed a few items, headphones and earbuds, that either broke or quit working. They weren’t handled rough or abused. I liked them and wanted them repaired out of warranty and found out they were disposable products. Yes, $300+ and disposable. I’m talking about Yamaha and Marshall. Sadly, I’m know this is the same with many other companies. So, I consider this a big win for Sennheiser! The quick start will get you up and going, but I highly recommend downloading the instruction manual and reading it first. The transmitter box gets its power from the USB port on the TV and you can charge the headphones with its pass through USB-C port or charge the headphones with any common phone charger. Sound wise, these things sound very good for both dialog on TV, music and phone calls. There are three sound presets on the transmitter box for listening to the TV and she / we liked the middle, dialog enhancing, the best. The surround effects sound like a delay and some filtering is added to widen the field. I thought they sounded strange and didn’t care for it. Overall, they deliver clear dialogue without harshness, and the fit stays comfortable for long sessions. You can switch them on the box or the app. In our case, we use the app because I have the transmitter hidden behind our wall mounted TV. With the app paired to the phone you can adjust the EQ and that can make a huge difference in performance when listening to music. Keep in mind that depending on what music apps you’re using, they may have EQ settings as well, and that can effect how these, or any, headphones sound. Especially if you are unknowingly using 2 EQs in series. If your music app has an EQ, set it to flat, also check for Dolby Atmos and any other audio enhancements and turn them off, then adjust the EQ in the Sennheiser app. You can always go back and turn Atmos and stuff back on to find the sound you like. The music I used to test them was my usual selection of artists: Steel Dan, Alan Parsons, Pink Floyd, Genesis, original LRB and some other artists from ABBA to Zeppelin. They sound plenty good enough for music but not as good as high end headphones meant for listening to music. Bluetooth Auracast is a cool feature that lets others with compatible headphones link into the transmitter and listen to whatever it's broadcasting that you have it connect to. They assume TV and that is the primary use, but remember, you can connect it to any audio source. User can set their headphone’s levels individually with Auracast. My mother, wife and I found the headphones to be very comfortable to wear. Mom has tried several that were too tight and returned over the years. So far, she likes these the best for fit and sound for long sessions of wearing them. The headphones have controls for volume up and down, mute / pause and power. It has voice notifications for certain things as well. See manual for details beyond what I stated. Battery life is said to be about 50 hours and you can set them to automatically turn off when not in use in a set amount of time. We never ran them to they died or even gave a notification, but I know she used them over 2 days on a full charge before charging and never got a notification to charge them. She plugged them up before I had a chance to check the battery life left. Build quality feels good; the headphones are light weight and comfortable to wear for long periods. All necessary cables are included for almost any type of connection you will need. The included stand feels sturdy and the bottom is weighted enough to not tip over easily. There’s also a rubbery mat that covers nearly the entire bottom as well. The only improvement would be to have the stand be able to charge them too. Conclusion: I think these not only hit the mark for what they are marketed for but go beyond that. Especially if you make the best use of the phone app and the options the system offers. Verdict: These headphones do exactly what they promise: reliable, comfortable TV listening for anyone who values clarity over flash.

The Sennheiser RS 275’s headphones are made for the avid TV watcher that doesn’t want to compromise on sound. I have spent a lot of time and money on my home theater system, but I am constantly faced with times where I can’t really use it. Whether it’s a noisy house, or everyone is asleep, I am often faced with less than ideal listening conditions. I have always wanted to get a pair of headphones to connect to my TV and be able to hear my shows/movies no matter the listening conditions. The RS 275’s are a bundle of the HDR 275 headphones and the BTA1 digital transmitter. Together they allow you to connect to virtually any TV or sound system. The 275’s are releasing alongside the 175’s, which are the entry level offering of the lineup. Design of the 275’s is simple enough. The controls are all contained on the right earcup. The earcups themselves fit nicely around my ears and the padding is a soft, breathable fabric. The headband comes with a leatherette padding that is fairly comfortable. The headset is very lightweight, which makes longer sessions more comfortable. The entire headset is made from plastic that all has a soft touch feel. The earcup connection point (hinge) is also plastic, which gives me some slight cause for concern for its longevity against wear and tear. It does feel robust though, so that should help it survive some abuse. The hinges rotate to allow the headset to lay flat. Battery life is listed at 50 hours, which is more than enough to get me through a few weeks of listening. The headset has a 50m (over 160ft) range to the bundled transmitter, so moving out of signal range will be difficult. The 275’s have 32mm drivers vs. the 40mm of the 175’s. These drivers come with a 106 db sensitivity (114 for the 175’s). As far as connectivity goes the 275’s can be simultaneously connected to the transmitter and another Bluetooth device like your phone. That’s how I have it connected right now. This allows me to answer a call while watching TV or seamlessly switch over to watching something on my phone. The Transmitter itself allows for multiple connection options and can switch sources. The transmitter can connect through HDMI via the ARC (audio return channel) input on your TV, optical S/PDIF via TOSLINK cable, USB audio, or through 3.5mm headphone connection. I have moved the transmitter between 2 TV’s – 1 of which I connect to my AV receiver, and the other TV to its optical output. In both cases I am utilizing my HDMI ARC input, so I didn’t utilize that connection. If I decided to hook it up to my last TV, that would be an option. I purchased extra cables to be able to swap the transmitter between TV’s easier. Controls on the headphones are pretty simple. There’s volume up and down, and a 3rd button in between the volume controls meant for multimedia (play/pause, skip forward/backward) controls to your phone. The power button can be double tapped to provide a battery indicator. That’s really it for the headphones. The transmitter has the aforementioned source selection button – unfortunately there’s no indicator light showing the source you select, so you just have to cycle through. The other button is the sound mode button. There are 4 modes – nothing, virtual surround, speech clarity, and surround+clarity. I have mine normally set to virtual surround just based on the content that I am watching later at night (dumb action movies mostly). If I am watching a regular TV show I will change it to surround+speech to bring a little more clarity to the dialogue. I have toggled off the virtual surround in a few instances where it sounded muddy, but I think that was down to the source material not being mixed for surround all that well. Sound clarity while watching my shows is great. I still prefer my surround sound system, but the headphones provide a significant improvement during those times where listening conditions aren’t the greatest. I basically use them almost every night I watch shows on my own, and its nice that I can get up and go to another room without really missing anything. I have been able to turn off subtitles, which I basically had to have on when I watched TV at night. The headphones deliver the sound clearly and plenty loud enough for me. I usually keep them around halfway up. The headphones don’t really provide great environmental isolation, so if it gets loud in the room I will bump the volume up a bit. Since I am usually the only one watching TV in these situations I haven’t felt the need to invest in another headset for my partner. However, the transmitter supports adding multiple Auracast compatible headphones if the need arises. I did note a couple of odd things with the headphones. When listening to content from my phone the headphones sound flatter than they should. I downloaded the SmartControlPLus app to mess with the EQ’s, but even then the headphones didn’t really “come alive” like they do when connected to the transmitter. This may be addressed with updates because the headphones really sound great when connected to the transmitter. The other odd thing I have noticed is I will randomly get a disconnect from the transmitter, and lose sound for 5-10 seconds. Its only happened a few times in 15-20 hours of usage, but its still odd. Overall, the RS 275’s are a pretty good TV headphone. I really love my home theater system, but I would gladly listen to these headphones at night. I really appreciate being able to turn off the subtitles, and these headphones are more than comfortable to use for hours. The bundle comes with a pretty nice headphone stand as well, which is appreciated. Battery life is excellent, and they have great connectivity range. The headphones, via the transmitter, have so many ways to connect to your TV. This is really a good all-around solution for anyone wanting to try out headphones for their TV viewing.

As I’ve gotten older, my hearing has gotten worse. I noticed it many years ago when dialogue on TV shows became particularly hard for me to understand. Shows like NCIS were almost unwatchable for me because of the reliance on heavy dialogue to move the story along. Since then, I have gotten hearing aids, but I still feel like I miss something. This set of headphones is remarkable when it comes to speech clarity. What makes them nice is I can increase the audio levels as I need to without disturbing anyone else because I have my own personal Dolby speakers attached to my head. Sound Performance: I’ve been a super fan of Sennheiser for more than 20 years and I think they really did a great job with these headphones. I used them for watching TV, listening to podcasts, and listening to music. All of them were enhanced by the speech clarity feature. I was especially impressed when I pulled a podcast up on my iPhone. There was just something to the crispness of the voices and how easy it was to distinguish between different words. With the RS 275, they words don’t run together or just melt into one another. Each one can be heard easily. For me, this is the biggest selling point. When it comes to music, I think it seems to be just as clean, but what really makes the music more enjoyable is being able to hear the singers more clearly. Even though the headset doesn’t have traditional noise cancellation, it does isolate the user from ambient noise really well due to the over-ear design of the headphones. There is also a Transparency mode, which not only lets ambient sounds in but it also amplifies and enhances those noises a bit. Setup & Compatibility: I was very happy with the easy set up. I did connect the headset to my iPhone and after pairing to it via Bluetooth, the app detected the headphones and I was able to access the extra features. As far as hooking up the headphones to the TV goes, I was impressed by the plug-n-play experience. It was very quick and painless and the instructions did a good job illustrating how the connection should be. The only hiccup I ran into in the headphone set up is that the headphones become the audio output method for the TV. That means, your setup with the headphones could limit your viewing experience with other people. This headset supports Auracast, which means you can have more than one set of headphones connected to the same transmitter, but you probably can’t have one person listening to the TV through a soundbar or the TV speakers and the other using the headphones. This is a roadblock for me since I like to watch shows with my fiancé, but when I watch TV alone, it works great. Comfort: The headphones are very comfortable. They are lightweight and the headband has a nice soft cushion on it that keeps the headset from feeling too tight on your head. The ear cushions do get a little hot for me, but since they block out a lot of ambient noise, I see it as a trade off. The headphones do work well for longer listening sessions. Overall, I think the RS 275 are great headphones for people who have trouble hearing dialogue when they watch TV. They are comfortable and they provide a better viewing/listening experience than TV speakers do alone.

Right out the box, a well-built but light-weight unit is the HEADSET bundle of the HDR275 with its BTA1 Auracast transmitter, setting a Next Gen standard for simultaneous broadcast to Bluetooth enabled devices. In my home, the short charging cord included with the bundle stays plugged into the BTA1 Auracast for my bedtime charging option. Thankfully, eliminating the need for a second charging cord, my office's smart phone fast charge USB-C cord is also compatible with the HDR275 for a generous 50 hours of battery. Sennheiser affords the owner replacement of both the ear cushions and battery, essentially promising core technology with longterm performance integrated within a durable framework. No trouble downloading the Sennheiser SmartControl Plus APP from Google Play to my Android Galaxy A15. The manual boasts instant connection via Bluetooth, and it does just that via the BTA1 Transmitter. After pairing the headphones through the BTA1 Auracast Transmitter, my phone, laptop, and tablet have easy access to an array of options including: sound equalization, left-right balance, hearing profiles, device-type audio modes, finding lost headphones, and more. Audiophiles can get granular with other entertainment enhancement tools by adjusting settings to diminish ambient interference, increasing clarity, tailoring signal modifications to specific TV viewing preferences. The controls on the headset have a high-profile design for adjusting the volume to 106dB, call reception, on/off, et al. Driven by LC3 Bluetooth Codec, Auracast transmission technology affords a range at ~165 feet. Tried'n True, I can work in the garage or quite a distance into the yard without detectable distortions over a radius beyond expectation. For TV viewing, low latency audio/visual synch is stable and free of distortion. Moreover, this unit solves the intermittent conflict that arises when one partner wants to sleep before the other. What a relief when neither of us has to leave the room when the sleep fairy strikes or one of us prefers to read rather than watch TV! Though the APP affords a Find Headphone function, a handsomely designed stand invites users to return the headset to a highly visible location for the next user. YouTube videos gave me backstage tours and retrospective on the many years Sennheiser has invested in research and development. The brand's performance on many fronts in the television, radio, and film industries has earned global respect for its high standards. These behind the scenes data points are usually beneath the awareness of most consumers. The insights establish confidence in the product line and cultivates brand loyalty. Hopeful that time returns the promise for a long term 'Happy Headset Herstory'.

The Sennheiser RS 275 TV Headphones with Bluetooth and a TV transmitter stand are my first Sennheiser product. As an avid audiophile and someone who loves high-end audio hardware and good sound. I own a lot of different Wireless/ Bluetooth headphones and I have to say I am impressed with these headphones. They sound great whether you are listening to a movie on your TV, watching YouTube on your computer or listening to music on your phone. They have a very well-balanced sound signature with good low end while being clear through the mids and highs at the same time. I thought being TV Headphones would mean they were not so great all around headphones but that's not the case. Not only do they sound good, they also block out background noise very well and they have a comfortable, tight seal on your ears. They have very soft material on the ear pads with memory foam underneath. As far as sound control, you can use the transmitter for virtual surround sound and speech clarity, or you can choose between four profiles directly on the headphones for TV watching. If you are using them with your Android or IOS devices, such as phones or tablets, then you get a very well thought-out app called Sennheiser Smart Control. Inside this app, you will find things like Multi-Point, which allows you to connect to two devices at once, like your PC and phone so you can be watching a video on your PC and stop to take a call on your phone. You also have the ability to customize the sound of the RS 275’s using an EQ with 8 built-in preset sound signatures, or you can create a new custom EQ signature and name it to suit your needs. You can also turn on noise suppression, increase speech clarity or use customized hearing profiles. Additionally, they have the new Auracast Technology that lets you connect to an Auracast broadcast near you anywhere you may be whether it’s a TV at the Airport or one in a bar. If there is Auracast, you can connect and listen privately. Sennheiser has done a great job with the headphones and app. There are even ways to adjust them to hear better and clearer with hearing enhancement and they also have a transparency mode to listen to what is going on around you with the MIcrophone. Then of course thei is find my headphones in the app as well. I really feel like Sennheiser let it all hang out with these. Now I am not sure if they go all out on all of their products, but I would guess yes and I can tell you this. Sennheiser just earned a return customer from my experience. They do a great job through and through and I like things done right by people who care about quality! These are well worth the asking price!

Sennheiser’s RS 275 TV headphones are ultra-lightweight, simple, and comfortable while producing hi-fi sound. I always have trouble understanding speech in movies, but my family detests closed captions, and I do find I miss the picture for the words in the long run. This headset is the best compromise because it accentuates speech without diminishing any other sound in the process. The best part is that it plays entirely separate from the TV’s sound and surround sound speakers. I can have the TV on mute at night and listen just with the headphones or have the speakers going full volume during family movie night while listening with the headphones at my preferred volume setting. They provide great noise cancelation with just the cups alone that I cannot hear anyone talking around me. *What’s included?* Along with the headphones, the box includes a headphone stand, TV transmitter, USB A-C cable, USB C-C cable, optical cable, and 3.5mm audio cable. *Construction* The headphones are extremely lightweight, weighing under half a pound. They are made from hard, sturdy, but very soft-to-the-touch plastic. The underside of the headband is lined with a velvety soft cushion adding comfort at the top of the head, while the ear cups are lined with memory-foam type cushion. The overall design allows me to wear them for hours without any discomfort whatsoever. The right ear cup contains the volume buttons, a multi-function button, and the power/Bluetooth button. The buttons are intuitively placed and the volume buttons quite large, which allow me to easily remember the buttons by feel and quickly make change the volume as needed. The multi-function button allows for pause/play, skip, and backtrack depending on how many times it is clicked. *Connection* The headphones connect automatically to the TV transmitter, which has to be connected to the tv via optical cable or aux plus a USB that conducts power from the tv to the transmitter. This format allows the transmitter to turn on and off with the TV, preventing unnecessary power usage. The transmitter has an additional port from which the included USB C-C cable can be used to recharge the headphones. It only took a few minutes to set-up and provides a perfect system that avoids the hassle of trying to connect headphones directly to the tv. The transmitter has a source button, which allows toggling between input sources, and a sound mode button that can be used to connect to Bluetooth, as well as toggle sound settings. *App* Both the transmitter and the headphones can be connected to the Sennheiser+ app. This gives the option to control settings through a phone instead of pushing the buttons on the transmitter manually, update firmware, and customize the EQ on the headphones. *Sound* The sound from the headphones provides such an immersive experience that it truly feels like I am listening in a theater with surround sound. The 3D setting works so perfectly that I have turned my head around thinking I heard something when it was just the movie’s spatial sound effect. Furthermore, the speech clarity prevents me from missing any moment of dialogue. The downside is that it can be bothersome in specific situation, such as scenes where kids are playing and squealing in the background, because it is amplified too much that it kind of hurts but lowering the volume causes me to miss the lower toned dialogue that is pertinent to the plot. Of course, turning off the speech clarity setting will diminish this issue. Overall, I am truly loving these headphones and will get great use of them when I want to watch TV with commotion all around me or late at night when I can’t have the volume up and I highly recommend them.

Overview: The Sennheiser RS 275 are a pair of headphones and transmitter that puts TV viewing first. It utilizes the audio channel from your HDMI ARC, Toslink (optical) or even analog 3.5mm. These options come with the luxury of wireless connectivity; there is a base transmitter that sends the audio through Bluetooth 5.4 to the wireless headphones with the comfort of viewing up to 164 feet. On top of this, the headphones themselves can connect directly to your smartphone allowing you to both watch media on your TV and take calls from your phone. Look and Feel: The HDR 275 headphones are very, very light and my first thought was that these are cheaply made. But there’s a fine balance between quality and comfort, and Sennheiser did a fantastic job here despite the mostly plastic construction. When worn, they feel so light on your head and the earcups are of a soft, fine mesh fabric. They are an absolute pleasure to put on, having worn much, much heavier headphones for the past few years. When not in use, the included headphone stand is a nice addition so that your headphones are in a safe place; I wouldn’t want anyone sitting on these inadvertently. Finally, the BTA1 transmitter is smaller than the latest iPhone in footprint and can be easily placed in any area of your entertainment center or where space is limited. Setup: Setup is quite simple with most of the confusion only having to do with what your TV supports. Luckily this unit can handle all situations. It goes something like this and in this order: If you do have HDMI ARC on your TV, then connect your TV from the ARC port to the BTA1 transmitter. If it’s already being used and you don’t have a pass-through port on your current speaker setup, then connect the included Toslink (optical) cable to both your TV and the BTA1. If you don’t have either HDMI or Toslink on your TV, then use the included 3.5mm audio cable to connect your TV to the BTA1 transmitter. And if all else fails….well you need a new TV! Otherwise, the next step is to install the Sennheiser SmartControl+ app on your smartphone to be able to easily configure your HDR 275s for sound profiles that suit your needs (and surprisingly, there are a lot of knobs here). Experience: It has been all pleasure while using the RS 275s. They satisfy two major requirements for me, and that’s both full immersion and not disturbing others at home. The sound quality from the headphones is fantastic and shuffling through the profiles puts you right where you want to be, whether it be sports, a movie or your favorite show. Volume controls are on the right ear cup and can be adjusted with ease. After a short while, you forget that they’re on and you even forget that it’s the headphones that are providing sound. I couldn’t count how many times my family tried calling out to me while I was watching an NBA game. It was great hearing the players bounce the basketball, something that I couldn’t really pick up clearly with my own soundbar. Speaking of clear, dialog is something I struggle with when I watch a movie anywhere, and I have zero problems listening to dialog with these. They have been spectacular so far. Numbers: The RS 275s provide about 50 hours of battery in between charges. It utilizes a USB-C port for charging, and you can plug in directly to the receiver for that charge. As far as range, expect about 150 feet of range, assuming good line-of-sight to the receiver. I’m about 10-15 feet from the TV??? 150 feet is crazy plenty. Another interesting number: Since this setup supports Auracast, a Bluetooth LE protocol for sharing audio, you can have as many Auracast-supported devices connected to the receiver for a shared audio experience. Sennheiser is one of the early adopters of this tech, and it makes perfect sense in the home theater setting. Conclusion: There is one more number I’d like to bring up – and that’s pricing. At MSRP, I feel like a lot of us are going to scour the internet for something similar…and cheaper. Sennheiser is a premium, prestigious brand in the audio industry and has been in the game for over 75 years. When I put a pair of them on like the Momentums or these RS 275s, I trust in their ability to produce amazing sound and sound reproduction. Ultimately, that is what you’re paying for, and my ears tell me that this is the way to go.

Do you like to listen to your TV loud and your family does not? Do you stay up later than everyone else and want to watch shows and not wake them up? Is your TV Bluetooth-less, making your earbuds useless? Then the Sennheiser RS 275 TV Headphones are for you. The package comes with the headphones, a nice stand, a transmitter, your choice of digital or analog connecting cables, and USB power cables (one for the transmitter, one for the rechargeable headphones.) The headphones are lightweight so they are easy to wear. I chose to use the digital connection for my TV, which was one plug for the optical port on the TV, and one plug for the transmitter. You can alternatively choose the analog audio cable and HDMI cable for the video. (An HDMI cable does not come included with the kit.) Set up is fairly simple. You plug in the transmitter to your preferred audio/video ports on the TV, hook the other end of the cable in the transmitter, and plug in the power cable into an available USB port on your TV. Then, you will use the Bluetooth between the transmitter and the headphone to sync them together. You will have to download the Sennheiser SmartControlPlus app to enable all the features, which is available from both the Apple App Store and Google Play. It will walk you through the initial setup. It did take a few tries for me to get the headphones and transmitter to connect. I’m not sure why. The lights on the transmitter would blink (two green lights) and the headphone would say that I was in pairing mode, but the software wasn’t pairing. While I was trying to solve that issue, the software prompted me to do an update. Whatever hiccup I was having went away after the update completed. The app has many features on how to adjust to your liking. It has your typical preset settings like Movie or Sports mode, along with settings you can customize. My favorite, though, is the Hearing Enhancement. I have a heck of a time with the sound mixes of some movies. The dialogue is hard to understand. Captions aren’t always an answer because they often get the dialogue incorrect. These headphones solve that problem. You can use this feature and choose the setting that works best for what you are watching. Then, it brightens up the dialogue for you! It’s not just louder, it’s CLEARER. That alone is worth the price of admission for me.

The RS 275 are geared towards TV viewing and give you a great listening experience without bothering others. They are also one of the best multipurpose headphones I have every used for voice calls and listening to music. The RS 275 comes with a transmitter you plug into the TV, it can be used by all TV’s no matter how old. The transmitter works with HDMI or combo audio/digital jack, if you are using HDMI use the eARC port. The transmitter gives a clean look with a single button to adjust for your listening experience. The setup is a breeze as the transmitter is already paired to the headphones, its simple plug and play. There is a app which give you much more functions but its not required. The RS 275 solve the biggest issue when it comes to viewing content which is dialogue. The speech clarity setting lets you hear everything. I no longer found myself rewinding movies to because of bad audio. The highs and lows are perfect no matter what you’re watching. While listening to music I heard things that I didn’t know were in songs before. I was stunned when I heard claps and snares in songs I missed even though I had heard the song hundreds of times. While the app is not needed to use the headphones, it does add many features which are useful. The app allows you to set EQ settings and even gives you a personalized listening experience. The biggest thing about the app is that you have the option to turn on Aura cast, which is huge if you have access to it. The transmitter allows unlimited amounts of devices to connect and listen to the same content without any lag. The Sennheiser RS 275 are some of the best headphones on the market because they are the most versatile. You can use them to listen to anything on any TV and they offer excellent sound. They are amazing for phone calls as you can be heard loud and clear on the other end. They are super light and comfortable to wear all day with multi day battery life, I have gotten 6 hours of use for every 10 percent. This added with the fact that you can replace the battery and ear cups makes it so they will be my go-to headphones for years to come.

For late-night films, the Sennheiser RS 275 TV Headphones represent a significant enhancement to your TV viewing. They address the common issue of "dialogue being too quiet while explosions are excessively loud" with a specialized Speech Clarity mode that isolates voices from the background noise, eliminating the need for constant volume adjustments throughout the night. As these headphones are designed with a closed-back over-ear structure, they provide complete sound isolation. You can indulge in a full cinematic experience at 1 AM without disturbing the person sleeping beside you, who will hear absolutely nothing. The Virtual Surround Sound feature generates a broad, theater-like soundstage that offers a more immersive experience compared to conventional headphones. In contrast to typical Bluetooth devices, the transmitter bundle guarantees flawless audio-to-video synchronization. Featuring a 50-Hour Battery, you can enjoy weeks of late-night movies on a single charge. They are lightweight, equipped with plush ear cups and a silicone headband, crafted to remain comfortable during a three-hour epic. If you share your space with a roommate or partner, you can connect a second pair of HDR 275 headphones to the same transmitter, allowing both of you to have independent volume control. Priced at $299.95, they are an investment in your home entertainment system, but for the sake of avoiding subtitles and "volume anxiety," they are worth every cent. Simply connect the transmitter to your TV's Optical port, place the stand on your media console, and you are all set.

Summary: The Sennheiser RS275 TV headphones are a headphone/transmitter bundle that are usable with virtually any TV. It provides immersive sound, highly configurable audio, switchable ambient awareness, and multiple ways to connect to a tv, computer, phone, or audio source. I use headphones for TV in the evening to because my wife goes to bed early. I have some hearing loss, particularly with higher frequencies. I had been using a set of bluetooth headphones that died and decided that it was time for a better solution. So, Sennheiser RS 275s! Out of the box there are the headphones, transmitter, 3.5mm audio cable, optical cable, two USB cables, a metal stand, startu instructions, and the ubiquitous safety warnings in a bunch of languages. The box itself is all cardboard and recycles nicely. Setup is pretty easy, connect the transmitter to the TV via HDMI, USB, 3.5mm audio cable, or optical cable. The USBc port on the transmitter is also the power connection, so if you don't have a usb port on the tv, you'll need a 1A USB power dongle. There is also a USB output on the transmittter for charging the headphones. You can connect the transmitter to the TV or audio source via HDMI(ARC), USBc, audio cable, or optical cable. You can have multiple sources connected and switch between them, if you like. There is a phone app, SmartControl+, that is kind of necessary. Make sure to get the "+" version, there is an older "SmartControl" version that doesn't know about the RS275. First thing, both the transmitter and headphones had a firmware update with some fixes and a couple of new features. Hopefully, Sennheiser will continue to add features and controls in the future. The app itself is a bit clunky, but still quite usable. The headphones fit nicely, with large earcups that fit well over my large ears. They are also very lightweight, very comfortable for extended use. Interesting note, they can be connected via bluetooth without the transmitter for phone, computer, even the TV. Sennheiser added Auracast support, which to me looks like multicast bluetooth. In any case, one really noticable trait of the RS275 system is no lag! Unlike my old bluetooth headphones, the synchronization between the screen and the sound is perfect. Sound quality is stellar, even with my degrading ears. There are a number of sound contours for 3D sound, enhanced voice, different types of music, and different hearing enhancement profiles. Whatever your condition your ears are in, there is a sound profile for you. I've used the RS275's paired to my phone as a headset (yes, there is a microphone), paired with the computer for Zoom calls, and for games. Games on the computer were the really interesting one. Again, I experienced zero lag in the audio. In addition to the mic for calls, etc, there appear to be mics for ambient sound awareness, which can be set at various levels. If you are using them with your phone on a walk, or simply in a room watching tv with other people, it's really nice to not cut out the world. Of course, you can if you really want to. Battery life is also awesome, I haven't recharged the headphones since I got them almost a week (and probably 30hrs of use) ago. That's actually good in another way, because the stand is just a stand, not a charging station. Charging is through a USBc port, which is probably the only minor fault I could find with the Sennheiser RS 275's. Overall, I was a little sceptical about the price, but I'm sold. If you are looking for TV headphones that can basically be used for just about anything headphone, give the Sennheiser RS275's a look. I don't think you will be disappointed. Highly recommended!

My intent on these Sennheiser RS 275 headphones were to assist my dreaded older age hearing loss, and not blow the speakers out on my TV. What I have found, however, are excellent headphones and a very interesting transmitter and connection capability. Of course my focus was on my need, and these headphones did not disappoint. Out of the box, it has the headphones, Auracast transmitter, stand and power. The transmitter was almost the star of the show! With multiple connections to allow for connection to almost EVERY type of television made, that made setting up easy. I went with the digital connection, even though it has eARC connection (I am already using that for the soundbar). It can also be plugged into any TV with a headphone jack. The Auracast transmitter is outstanding way to connect the RS 275, but also any other devices that support Auracast! It uses the USC Type A on most TVs to derive its power, so as not to have an additional cord draped everywhere. Sennheiser supplies a stand that serves only to hold the headphones; no charging or anything else through the stand. Now to the headphones! Made of a sturdy plastic and relatively light, then feel a little cheap. When wearing though, the weight is nothing and the headphones kind of disappear. They are on the small size, so it's worth checking at your Best Buy for fit if you have the chance and a large noggin. The sound is outstanding and serve their intended purpose outstandingly. The transmitter has three modes; Virtual Surround (helps with depth and broadness), Speech (obvious) and a combination of both. I normally leave them in normal mode through the app you can download. The sound is excellent and everything is clear. No noise reduction is present, but positioned right on your head helps dampen any present noise. I never had the predecessor to these headphones, but it appears all previous complaints were addressed. With the included awesome Auracast transmitter these are absolutely recommended!

Sennheiser headphones are awesome The packaging very nice touches. Everything had a place. Connectivity wires were placed and tucked neatly in small cardboard compartments very well organized. The headphones are of very good build quality. Audio from the headphones very rich and full. I connected to my TV using the hub that came with the headphones. Plugged in using the digital audio and then the Hdmi port. Both sounded very clear and easy to control the headphones by following the labels that were on the earpieces. Very impressed with sound quality while watching tv from various apps on my TV. Ease of use and sound quality are off the utmost quality. Comfortability while wearing these headsets are so awesome and enjoyed watching TV for a couple of hours without ears hurting or feeling fatigue. The lightweight of the phones help in wearing for hours without feeling like a weight off on my head and every turn i made i would feel them in at terrible way. Instead i almost forgot i had them on Highly recommend these headphones and connecting to your TV is really really easy.

I’ve been a fan of Sennheiser products for years. I expect great sound and they deliver. The quality engineering is evident from the moment you open the box. These headphones are ready to enjoy, easy to install, and a pleasure to wear. The stand supports multiple inputs, so it really will connect to just about any TV. In my case I used the optical connection from my TV with the included cable. Being Bluetooth, you can also use them with your tablet and phone. It has built-in mics and I found the phone audio to be crystal clear. Among the many features is customizable hearing profiles. Whether listening to a podcast, TV, or movie, the ability to adjust the sound to my personal likes, is the only way to enjoy the content. It even focuses the dialogue enabling you to hear what’s actually being said. When my wife asks, “what did they say”, I can now answer her. When listening to the TV, I didn’t notice any lag to the on-screen lip movements. Those annoying commercials that spike the volume to get your attention are leveled. The lithium polymer battery is user replaceable, and is charged via a USB-C connection. I found that I got between 40-50 hours between charges. Charging took about 2 hours. The base is powered by a USB connection. If your TV has a USB-A connection, it may be able to power the base. Otherwise, you’ll need a USB power adapter, as one is not included. The app provides extensive customization options, such as the hearing profiles, EQ, balance, and adjusting the level of background noise. If you demand the best in audio, you won’t be disappointed.

If I had to be limited to only ONE word to describe these Sennheiser TV Headphones, that word would be - WOW! The pairing process was simple and very straight forward and took little to no time at all, once paired the thing that I first noticed was the sound, it is crystal clear. I tried them the first night that I had them after charging them was I thought I was sitting in front our big screen tv in our family room that has a high end surround sound system, the sound is that amazing, to the point I said that word, WOW and my wife tapped me on the arm and asked why I said that and I explained it to her. These headphones are very lightweight to the point I don’t “feel” them on your head, the adjustability of these headphones makes the fit so good, and the pads on the ears are probably the best I have ever felt. I love the stand, I love these headphones. As I previously said, I fully charged these and have used them A LOT since I have had them and have not had to charge them. If you want a true surround sound in a set of headphones is unreal, it’s one word - WOW. They are reasonably priced and I HIGHLY recommend these Sennheiser RS 275 TV Headphones.

Got these for gaming in my office. My PC has its own speakers and my monitor has some audio but that is horrible. Grabbed these to connect and have good sound for those quick gaming sessions! Setup was very direct. Nothing to bad. USB-C plugs into TV/Device to power the main box. Then you just connect the audio option you have(SPIDIF or Analog 3.5mm). Headset connects via bluetooth. Note: the headphones can also connect to any bluetooth device such as your phone! BONUS!! Build Quality is quite nice. All nice smooth plastics with a good finish. Headband is a soft rubberish material and ear pads are a nice fabric. Very comfortable. Design is an over the ear so to provide some noise seperation. everything is clearly marked. I really liked the control sitcker! I kept this on the device for future use! Ears do fold for laying flat on a table or you can utilize the included stand! Stand appears to be aluminum and labels properly. Performance is good. Couple of options for enhancements such as virtual surround and voice enhance. Adds a nice touch. Good distance of use. I could easily go into kitchen for a drink refill and not lose audio. nice and clear audio production. I could not find info about drivers though or specific audio support such as dolby, ATMOS etc. This is a great product that provided a good experience for those wanting to either experience audio at a personal level without disturbing others. Or for audio that is limited otherwise and want an upgraded solution.

If you have a wife, husband, significant other that is bother by you watching videos at night…the Sennheiser - RS 275 TV headphones are a great way to solve your problem. They are times when I’m not able to sleep at night and hop on a YouTube to watch something. Unfortunately, my wife is not a heavy sleeper, so she’s easily bothered by the audio. There are also those times where headphones are the only option because of some other situations in life haha. Well, the Sennheiser - RS 275 TV headphones have been great at keeping all audio to myself. I am able to watch videos without bothering anybody else. I’m extremely surprised at the battery life of these headphones. I’ve been wearing them for a few nights and days now works a charge. Best of all, the sounds quality is incredible. Move over surround sound. The Sennheiser - RS 275 TV headphones do a phenomenal job in sound and nice cancellation. If you are looking for a set of headphones for your tv, look no more. I would highly recommend these.

The Sennheiser RS 275 is a combo of the HDR 275 headphones and BTA1 TV Transmitter to bring Auracast to your living room. This setup is a flexible and premium system designed to make it easy to add Auracast to your living room. Unboxing you’ll find both the HDR 275 headphones and the BTA1 transmitter. The transmitter is designed to draw power from a USB-A cable (1amp port is required, but most TVs handle this). You have multiple connection options, including HDMI ARC, optical, and analog audio via headphone jack. How you hook this up is entirely up to your setup, and I tried multiple options. First I played with connecting this in my living room. What I determined is my LG C5 TV doesn’t support simultaneous optical and eARC outputs, and my soundbar was already occupying eARC. I did find the optical worked really well, and my TV outputted device’s audio connected to it via the optical. The BTA1 received worked well, and paired instantly. I did find it cumbersome to swap between HDMI and optical when using it. That’s when I discovered the LG C5 supports Auracast out of the box. This is where I’ll shift focus for a minute to the HDR 275’s. Powering them up and then holding the power button a second time for 5 seconds enters pairing mode. I was able to use my TV’s Auracast in high quality mode to pair up with the headphones, and allow them to automatically connect. I did have to muck about a bit in the app (more about that later) to fix a repairing issue later, but overall, the headphones connect flawlessly and allow me to mute my soundbar and then use the headphones for late night listening. Quite helpful when you have children sleeping not that far away. Of course, Auracast as a standard is the highlight here. The HDR 275’s support multiple pairings and it’s easy enough to use them with multiple devices, including your phone. I have an iPhone and the iOS app worked well. This app is slick and offers not only connection management, but multiple graphic EQ settings, transparency mode, connection preferences and more. Connection management is pretty slick and you can manage multiple connections. The HDR 275 headphones sound pretty good, but not spectacular. The built in EQ settings in the app offer flexibility. Sound is a bit harsh and fatiguing at higher volumes, but at normal listening levels it’s competent if a bit distant. Sound isolation is quite good though. Transparency mode offers the ability to hear around you if you want, and this can be helpful if you’re just enjoying a show but want to be able to interact. The BTA1 is finding its home in my home theater. The beauty of the Auracast standard is it works much like a mini radio station, with nearly unlimited receivers allowed. Each receiver gets its own ability to tweak EQ, volume, and whatever, so this is a really useful device to have in a home theater (especially if you want to enjoy movies after kiddos are in bed). My receiver supports ARC, so I’m able to connect via HDMI and that’s pretty nifty. This combo is useful and is worth it if you need a setup to get started. While the headphones are quite comfortable, the HD 275’s aren’t Sennheiser’s most comfortable headphones. Overall this setup is a great start to Auracast, but it will take time for bluetooth devices to come with support. Here’s hoping the BTA1 becomes a long standing corner stone in my theater. Auracast is still early enough support is just rolling out, but if you’re looking for a solid implementation the RS 275 kit does the deed!
