This updating of/sequel to the popular series of 1970s blaxploitation films stars Samuel L. Jackson as John Shaft, an NYPD detective and nephew of the original InchShaftInch (Richard Roundtree). The younger Shaft throws away his badge in order to capture a rich creep (Christian Bale) responsible for killing a black teen in front of a trendy New York restaurant.
