A: Thanks to all who responded. I ended up calling Shark. They said it should NOT be left on the charger as it is a Ni-Cad battery and it will affect the life span. Following her suggestion, I ran the battery down, put it on the charger and timed how long it took to reach full charge. I bought a cheap indoor timer and set it to turn on for that amount of hours. That way I don't have to keep checking to see if it's charged and unplug it.
Q: how long does the battery last
A: The Shark battery has lasted thru an en tire vacuuming of our SUV without any Indication of battery weakness. About 35 min.
Q: It comes on but cuts off . It will not stay on... Why ???

Q: With the Pet Pefect what is the edge cleaning tool or device?
A: It's basically a tapered tube that slides into the end. All attachments, (beater bar, edge tool, brush), slide in the same. It's not as long and narrow as the crevice tool that you normally see, so you can't get into deep areas like next to the driver's seat, but it works for me!
A: Hello, We would like to inform you that the filter inside the dust cup for the Shark® Bagless Cordless Hand Vac is washable. To wash the filter, rinse with water only. Allow the filter to air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before putting it back in the vacuum. We hope this information helps. The Customer Support Team

A: Battery costs almost the same as a new unit. if your unit is more than a couple years old, may as well get a new one and a new warranty that comes with it
