Love the way it looks. Seems like a good value. Was dead on arrival: The CD changer says No Disc in all five slots. I called Sharp and customer service was helpful in troubleshooting and resetting the unit, but that didn’t fix the problem. Rather than RMA a brand new item, I am returning it to Best Buy. Sharp needs to work on its quality control.

This CD player has great sound and is very easy to set up initially. So why only three stars? Once you turn it on, the troubles begin. Let me start by saying I like to figure things out on my own. This is not one of those instances where you can do that. I had to refer to the manual several times for what to do (I imagine I will be doing so for a few more days before I have it set like I want it). Once you get the basics down, good luck actually utilizing the disc changer. I figured out the remote has to be fully visible and lined up with the unit. It should be as simple as pressing 1-5 and having it okay, but it requires you to select a CD, hit play within five seconds, wait a full minute for it to load the CD, then it'll play the CD. Not user friendly at all. Bluetooth is the simplest to use and just works out the box. Great sound by default as well. The remote is weirdly designed, but works fine. I think the criticisms of the remote are overblown, but having a tiny play button on the top right instead of dead center is an odd choice. FM radio works great for me and the sound is clear. Again, you have to use the memory button along with multiple presses to save stations. I've only saved one so far and probably won't bother with more right now. I have not tried AM stations so I can't speak to that. For the price, I'm happy with the purchase. This system has a learning curve, but when it works, it's fantastic. I also appreciate that my local store had it on demo to try before I bought it. Can't do that online. For something like this, see if you can find it locally to try out and then make your decision.

It was simple to set up. However, detailed instructions were printed so small that even with a magnifying glass I could not read them. The panel on front of unit has black buttons on black background making them hard to read without magnifying glass to read the labels. Also, we had trouble coordinating remote control with panel on front of unit. Sound is good once we figured out basics how to use it.

A simple 5 disk cd changer with radio, & Bluetooth. Simple setup connect speakers, antennas & it is setup. Bluetooth Connects easily to phone, tablet, & MP3 player. Sound is decent quality for the cost of the unit. I don’t like that the display scrolls with unit shut off. Seems a bit of electricity waste.

Lots of features for a smaller unit. Good sound. CD player accepts 5 cd's, also play my Sirius radio through it in addition to music off of a flash drive (note:only accepts MP3 formatting). The standard antennas included for am/fm radio are less than worthless. Hardly gets stations a few miles away. Called Sharp tech support, and they were no help. Advised me to buy an aftermarket antenna. Since the unit has specialized plugs for antennas, I asked for a recommendation of an aftermarket antenna that was compatible with the Sharp plugs. They said to check with the vendor. Thought Tech support people were supposed to be informed about their product, or at least willing to do some research.

Wanted a 5 CD player like I had ages ago. We have a library of 300+ cds and wanted to be able to listen to them, preferably in the order we wanted. The unit makes a lot of noise when turned on. The remote works intermittently and, the unit makes a lot of clicking noises when it changes cds. It plays but it plays the entire cd before going to the next. We wanted to select the songs in a specific order. It doesn’t have that feature. The speakers aren’t that great. The radio doesn’t pick up stations that our other radios pick up.

It was a surprise the system was so loud. However very cheap looking as compared to my old system which I gave away. Also the antenna was not strong enough for the radio. No matter where I put the antenna the sound for the radio is poor.

I live in a small apartment, with thin walls, so I can't really use exceptional audio systems. This system is adequate for my needs (so long as I don't "switch-on" my "Musician's Ears". If I do, then it is NOT acceptable. Works relatively well; Bluetooth connects very easily; (depending on how the antenna is positioned), Radio Reception is good; Its remote requires 2 (DISPOSABLE-ONLY) AA Batteries. (I've found that Rechargeable batteries don't work with many remotes, including this one). Audio is NOT for "Golden Ears," but better than many earbuds out there. Setting up is a tad tricky (especially for today's younger people), but manageable for (older folk, accustomed to multiple remotes for their devices). I've had it for just over 1-1/2 years; use its CD changer relatively-sparingly, and cannot vouch, yet, as to how long that very slow, very awkwardly-designed CD Trays changer is. All-in-all, it DOES SERVE its purpose, for me.

Instructions for availing oneself of the features are non-existent. Had to conduct research on the internet. Remote is cumbersome and not user friendly. Quality of sound is very good, however.

It’s an okay stereo I guess. Sound is decent but it makes a lot of noise when you insert or change the cds. Haven’t tried bluetooth yet, instructions are not easy to read and understand. The best feature is having 5cd inserts where you can enjoy hearing you music for old times sake.. If they can make a smoother and add wireless it can be a very cool system.. Needs more upgrades…

I bought it for the 5-disc player. That works good so far. (The last Sharp 5-disc player only lasted a short time before it ate my CD's and stopped playing.) I just hope this one lasts a bit longer. This is my 3rd new stereo in 18 months. It has been so frustrating to find a replacement for my old shelf system that lasted 15 years. I can't even get these new ones to last 1 year! Yes, the sound is clear... but the bass is very weak, with hardly a difference with the "boost." I did as I intended and hooked it up to my speakers from another brand CD player that stopped working after about 6 months. I really enjoy the sound with the old speakers. I can adjust the settings with the new remote.

Great idea, right size, but the disc changer does not always work. You have to use the remote to choose a disc and that requires many pushes to get it to change and then sometimes its not the disc you selected. Bluetooth works fine. Bought this for parents who have many CD's but no space for a large system anymore.

I'm glad there was a cd player to purchase, but this one has less features than the one I was replacing. The cd shuffle and random play is very poor, since disks are stacked vs on a turntable. This wasn't made clear prior to purchase. I don't like that I need to use the remote to do some basis functions rather than having all the buttons on the main unit.

If Bluetooth could be disabled would rate it 5 star. Nice compact unit, decent sound. We bought this to listen to our cds, no matter how we set it repeat one cd or repeat all five….Bluetooth goes into search mode turning off cd….we have no smart appliances and unplug our tv & DVD player when not in use.went into BB to ask geek squad for advice was treated like I gave 3 heads and told to just deal with it cuz Bluetooth is in every thing….will never NEVER EVER purchase another item from Best Buy

Hello, we apologize for the inconvenience. Please be advised that once a device (phone/tablet) has on Bluetooth and is already connected to the unit and is within 32 feet (10 meters) it will be activated, this does not have to be yours, it can be from someone who is in the same proximity. We would suggest that you perform a reset on the unit. The reset steps can be found on page E-19 of this manual:

The sound is great on the AM channels, but unable to receive good sound on some of the FM channels. It was suggested to use an outdoor antenna for better reception. This is not possible if you are in an apartment.

This unit sounds pretty good but a little difficult for older people to operate. It would not read a CD even though all 5 trays were loaded. After unplugging it several times from electrical plug it finally started working. I almost boxed it up thinking it was defective. Got it for my dad and he likes it. I do hate that it goes into demo mode upon power up every time.

We purchase the system oh, because we had another Sharp shelf system. I don't like this one as much as the original. Controls seemed a little slow. Sound is good quality though.

This was not the most expensive unit on the market but the only one I could find that had five CD slots. It is very user friendly, even for low tech individuals, but the speakers are so poor it takes away from the enjoyment of the music.

It seems that all these music systems are all selling at a deep discount by all the mayor manufacturers. because the change in the technology with like the spearier and the telephone. The results are surprising because the access to classical music is more available. The basic problem with the Sharp unit is the records get stock inside the unit, and you have a very limited capabilitirs.
