The Slate Digital ML-1A modeling microphone is a large diaphragm condenser microphone designed for studio recording applications, including vocals, instruments, podcasting, and broadcasting. It includes 18 microphone models out of the box and is compatible with the Virtual Microphone System plugin, which provides access to additional mic models via subscription. Users can blend two mic models to create custom tones and adjust proximity effect, coloration, and intensity even after recording. The microphone supports mono input and stereo output for mixing applications while remaining mono-compatible. It also features selectable virtual preamps for tonal shaping, a three-position pad switch for handling different input levels, and can accommodate sound pressure levels up to 145 dB. With an 8 dB self-noise rating, it is designed for audio capture across a range of environments.
