They are average speakers. I though because the retail price was very high, they would sound better. It is okay for my outdoor covered deck. I have to minió the sound to get them from having a distorted sound.

Excellent speakers when they are on sale for $199/pair. I would be upset if I paid full price ($699) for them because there are much better options available at that price point…you can get into some quality B&Ws for $350/each that blow these out of the water. That said, for $100/each, they cant be beat. Wait til they’re on sale and pick these up. You wont be disappointed.

Before anything, I love Sonance and I think their VP66 series are the best for the buck. That being said, I changed two original 624s on my ceiling with four of these Mag6s to match the new VP grill of my other speakers, and Mag6s are nowhere close to 624s in sound quality. They’re okay for ATMOS heights, but other than that they’re just meh. I had higher hopes since the woofer material is made of glass fiber, and glass fiber is known for producing angelic sounds specially on female vocals, but woofer is not the whole story. The soft dome twitters on Mag6s are not on par with aluminum dome twitters of the better speakers in Sonance line up. These are at best fall between VP62 and 64 speakers. If they were not on sale, I would return them for VP66R, but the price difference between the two is very steep. If you decide to get these and you’ve blown insulation in your ceiling, the retrofit backing is a most.

Like a few others have mentioned, I am a little underwhelmed by these Sonance MAG series 6-1/2" speakers. The highs are quite nice, clear and smooth - never harsh. However, the bass response leaves something to be desired. At 45Hz it is not really in the low end, but I would expect a little more out of them when listening to music. (My 2006 Honda Element with 17 year-old factory paper cones punches more bass than these do.) Fortunately I went with a Polk Audio 255c-RT center-channel that is really the stand-out speaker in the 5.1 Atmos system. Running all this via an Onkyo TX-NR646, so plenty of power and range available for all channels. Glad I nabbed 2-pair of these on a really great sale price. Definitely questionable as to why full price would be $699. Price is high-end, but sound is like something much less expensive.

Nice sounding speaker but really lacking of any bass. You will need a powered sub. Good For the 130$ I paid. But not worth much more Probably really Good for surround sound systems that have a sub.

Bought these for celing rear atmos speakers in a new home havent got to try them yet hoping they sound as good as the best buy salesman said they did seemed like a good deal at 450 off the 600 normal price.

Speaker is of great quality. Reducing stars as it came in damaged packaging.

Got this for $99 and I still returned them. They are no where near the quality of the ‘pre sales price 699’ they claim to be valued at. The magnets are actually suite small for such a large speaker, and yes it is large. Its almost the size of an 8 inch sub, with all of the silly plastic casing included in the speaker. If you have a 6 1/2 inch enclosure, these will NOT fit without significantly larger hole being cut.

Sonance - MAG6R - Mag Series 6-1/2" 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers - Just average.

I installed the cover to reduce the sound transmission upstairs and the bass was reduced up to 100 hz per YPAO. This is not a problem because of the subwoofer I have. They do the job.

Speaker out put comes across lacking depth . But nice speaker for the price point.

Nothing special about these speakers and the sound is okay for the sale price. However, you would make a huge mistake if you pay full price.

They are good for small places………………………………………………..
Not a bad speaker but the highs are lacking. Seems dull.

There are definitely better sounding speakers than these.

I guess they are fine, looks good but they don't have the sound my Bose speakers did for music.

Thanks for taking the time to write about your Sonance speaker purchase, it's appreciated. As far as comparing their sound quality versus your Bose speakers it's hard to hard to determine what it is that doesn't meet your expectations, as sound is subjective, and I don't know what Bose model we are being compared to. I will say that Bose is a quality manufacturer of speakers. Could it be that there is an installation or set up issue that is effecting their sound quality? We would like to help you. If you'd like additional set up service help please feel free to call us directly at 1-800-582-7777 ext. 2 Monday thru Friday, 7am PST to 5pm.

Sound is just OK, and that's why these cost $169. I can see why they have to discount the product, these are nowhere near a set of Klipsch or Bowers & Wilkins. I am Definitely returning mine and pay a little more for others.
