Went through the annoying set up. Don’t think it really did anything at all. A slight boost in volume, but not worth it at all. Also, i purchased this in ‘Open Box - Excellent’ condition. The unit had gross, greasy smudges all over it and some gunk on it. I cleaned it off, thinking maybe it’d be worth it if the unit did what its supposed it (it didn’t) Do better, Best Buy.

I’ve given Sonos multiple chances, but after hours of troubleshooting with my last two speakers, I’ve reached my limit. Despite their premium price tag, the setup process is a nightmare—constant errors, endless resets, and zero success. The subwoofer I bought has literally become an expensive side table because it refuses to integrate with my system, no matter how many times I’ve tried. Meanwhile, products from Bose, Apple, and even more affordable brands like Polk set up seamlessly on the same Wi-Fi network without any hassle. For the price Sonos charges, their setup experience should be flawless, but instead, it’s consistently frustrating. Save your money and go with a brand that values both performance and user experience.

Buyer beware! Not only is the shipping crappy. It took an extra week to arrive when it was suppose to arrive in 2 days. We ordered a open box excellent condition sonos sound bar. It cane with bubble wrap. No box of its own. No optical cable. No user information booklet. No receipts. We are assuming since it got jumbled in this big box it didnt even turn on. Excellent condition my butt. We got sent an over $200 brick.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with the Ray soundbar purchase. It’s incredibly disappointing when expectations aren't met, especially when it comes to a product described as being in "excellent condition." To receive an item in such poor shape, without proper packaging, essential components, or even the ability to turn it on, is unacceptable.
Here are some steps you might consider to address the situation:
Contact Best Buy Immediately: Reach out to your local Best Buy to report the condition of the item. Be sure to mention the missing components, the poor packaging, and the fact that the soundbar doesn’t power on.
Request a Refund or Replacement: Given the condition in which the item arrived, you should be entitled to a full refund or a replacement. Be ready to provide any necessary evidence, like photos of the packaging and the soundbar.
Check Return and Warranty Policies: Review the return policy and any applicable warranty for the item.
I hope these steps lead to a quick and satisfactory resolution for you. It’s truly unfortunate when a purchase doesn’t meet expectations, especially one involving a product you were looking forward to using.

Don’t buy this it sounds terrible. It has no power. Doesn’t get loud at all. Coming from a klipsch sound bar that rocks the house. Sonos sounds like a tiny speaker.

Don't buy! We have had a terrible time using this sound bar. First, when connecting to Sonos: Twice it has disconnected from my phone. You might think reconnecting it is simple - but it required a call to Sonos that took the tech 25 minutes to reconnect. After the second time disconnecting, I don't have the bandwith to go through it all again so I just won't play music through the sound bar any more. Secondly, when connecting to the Samsung TV remote, the only way you can control the sound bar is if you stand directly in front of it within 10 feet. I would love to return this item, but it is too late!

Honestly, the overall experience with this soundbar was a joke. Had to spend hours trying to connect the thing, the mobile Sonos app won’t let you update the device (iPhone 15 pro) and bc my MacBook Air can’t update to the newest iOS I had to borrow my roommate’s windows laptop just to update the Ray. Oh, and all of this had to be done while having the soundbar connected via Ethernet. It’s supposed to connect wirelessly, and said it was connected via the app, but when unplugged it wouldn’t connect. Hard-wired, all went well for like a week, then the same issue arose with updating, but it wanted me to completely restart the set-up process like I just bought it. The sound was ok, but for $170 (on sale) you can find better, plus you have to use the app to adjust volume and every time you turn on the tv you have to go to the app and select which “source” you’re listening to just to have the sound on… Seriously, huge pain and not worth it -_-

After pausing a dvd, streaming channel or tv, the volume dies off and you have to increase the volume to nearly 100. You can sometimes do sort of a reset if you decrease back to zero or you may have to inplug the unit. Sometimes it works fine it's one of those stupid intermittent problems. I wish I had bought something else. Also, when I try to go to my Sonos phone app, it doesn't recognize my Ray and I have to reset the app. Won't recommend to anyone. When it does work the sound is great.

I was assured when I bought this with my Sony Bravia OLED 4K that it was the simplest speaker and would be set up in minutes. WRONG. After hours of scrolling through settings and reading technical bulletins adn the Sonos help center, it will NOT allow the comcast remote to control volume. There is no way to disable the internal speakers of my fancy new TV. If you mute the TV it works until you volume up, then both go on and there's an echo-y delay between the 2. My $89 cheapo from 8 years ago works better. Supposedly it is easy set up if it works the first time and you know all about IR and RF and PCM and optical in and out vs, HDMI, etc... and your TV has the right settign options. When I bought this with my new TV all I asked for was a simple speaker that will work with my Comcast remote. Using an app on a phone to control volume is ridiculously slow, cumbersome and as bad as having to get up to use the volume button on the TV because my phone is not attached to me at all times. Feels like I'm back in 1975. The sound coming out is perfectly fine for my use when we manually set it up by muting the TV and then using the app to go up. The moment the remote volume is used both Sonos and TV speakers go on most of the time. Sometimes the volume visual goes up on the TV, but the volume does not change.

This sound bar was not compatible with my new Samsung QLED TV. To work properly on ALL levels, The TV only accepts an HDMI connection. This soundbar is only has an optical connection. The salesperson at the Best Buy store assured me it was compatible-NO. I hade to have the Geek Squad staff come out to evaluate to problem and give me the bad news that it was not compatible. I had to return the soundbar and get a more expensive replacement. Plus the Geek Squad visit cost me an additional $109. BTW-no compensation from the store on them getting it wrong and me being out more money. Disappointed in customer service at the Olympia Store.

I've had this for a couple years now. Would not recommend. Overall the sound quality is great, but I've tried to resolve the sound cutting out every 30 minutes or so for abou5 4-5 seconds. I've tried to resolve with Sonos customer service numerous times, but it has not been resolved. We've tried to changed settings on my Sony TV, and it hasn't changed. I tried to give them a chance to try and give me a replacement unit, but no dice. I would give it two stars if I had any support from Sonos, but alas, they don't care.

This sound bar quit working 15 minutes after the Geek Guys left my house after setting up my TV and bar. I had to make another appointment for them to return (it took anothrt week). In the meantime i returned to the Best Buy and purchased another remote. The one that came with the Samsung TV is not user friendly at all. At that time I was told to call the 888 number to make the appt. for the Geek Guys to return and fix the problem with the sound bar. The Customer Service person walked me through (quite smoothly) the process of using the sound from the TV since I had picture but no sound. The Geek Guys informed me that this particular sound bar was not compatible with the Samsung TV I had purchased. Therefore, i had to make another trip to Best Buy to return the sound bar!

this item was so hard to set up to my new samsung tv’s remote. you cannot use an HDMI cable and can only connect with fiber optic cable. def would not purchase this if you want to be able to control volume with remote.

If you're looking for something to be excited about then get home and can't use, this is your product. The actual soundbar itself isn't horrible. Pair it with the mini sub and you've got an above average sounding setup, in the store. I was excited after listening to it in the store but once I got home I was beyond disappointed. The sonos app is absolutley horrible. A brand new system and it told me I had to let the onwer sign in. Was a never ending loop until finally, after an hour of trying everything on the internet I could find, I gave up and decided I would wait until the next update. Then as I read more and more reviews, it is a reoccuring thing with sonos to put out bad updates that ruin your abilitly to use their equipment. Just overall not happy and I won't be recommending anything sonos to anybody I know.

Bought open box Sonos ray. It didn't come with optical cable. Then when I purchased one I go to set it up and this speaker is bound to someone else's account. This has cost me a few hours of time and it is rare for me to get freetime.

SO angry. 30+ years in Tech didn't help me at all setting this up with our Vizio TV. Spent 3 hours on my own, then 2 hours with Sonos Tech Support and another 1.5 hours with Eero Tech Support. Device connected to my home wifi but the Sonos app continually said "no devices are set up" after going through the process DOZENS AND DOZENS AND DOZENS of times. Multiple factory resets, tried it wireless and hardwired. My Eero app sees the device, but nothing could get the Sonos app to see this device. Also tried different phones. Nothing.. Stuck in the same loop for DAYS. I tried using my Firestick to connect it and that process also failed. This was a birthday gift that I was SO excited to give, and after a week of trying, I'm done. Returning it tomorrow. Quite infuriating.

Worked great for 15 mins then stopped. Rebooted and reset completely and had issue with it seeing network. Support desk didn’t e en know how to resolve. Returned to store. Do not recommend since it requires network to operate.

Unable to connect my Samsung TV to this device. It was not Bluetooth friendly and limited on connection options.

We have had Sonos system for 10 years. We purchased the Ray recently and it does not have the sound quality we expect from Sonos. My Sonos 1 speakers have much better sound. We returned the Ray and purchased the Beam Gen 2. The Beam is far superior to the Ray. We do not recommend the Ray.

Connectivity is the worst I’ve ever seen. You have to either get up and turn up the volume manually or repair your phone with the speaker EVERY time you want to adjust the volume. This means you still have to get up and press the button on the back of the device to pair and enter the internet password each time. Even then it drops.

Would have been great but you have to have the app to control it. Doesn't come with a remote. The next price point is crazy but comes with a remote.
