I spent months reviewing TV's, specifically OLED unit after having a really good Samsung 55" LED (bought in 2009). I wanted a larger TV and 1080p wasn't what I wanted now that 4K TV's are well established (though I am looking forward to 8K TV's on the horizon). But as I looked at Samsung, LG, Sharp and Sony. As I went back and forth between the brands, the Sony OLED was significantly better than the other brands. To really see the brilliance of any of these 4K TV's, you need to watch a 4K Bluray and it's amazing. The color saturation and blacks on the Sony OLED is fantastic and the fact that the screen is the speaker is really impressive.

Was skeptical about the OLED compared to QLED And I gotta say, OLED shows more real color quality with the x1 processor compared to the QLED screens that express too much hot colors . Another cool feature is the Android os, you can install Plex and Kodi media player on the TV without having to buy a separate streaming device like firestick or Nvidia shield , controlling the TV over WiFi with your phone or tablet is a major perk. Google home integration. A TV guide built in for OTA TV signals is a huge plus. Leaning something new about this appliance everyday Sony has really stepped up their game . Looking forward to the new 8k master class models to roll out.

I worked at BB when they first started selling OLEDs. They always had the absolute best images and content on display in the stores and the ultra thin screen design looked sexy. Couldn’t wait to get it home. But the truth of the matter is that it will only look as good as the content you have playing. Fios/cable will look good but not great. Blu-ray’s look good but didn’t I notice any great upscaling to the picture. The tv speakers are never gonna be great on any of these thin TVs but I needed to raise the volume more than half way just to to able to hear basically tv. In my case I bought an open box set. I inspected it in store and there were no obviously issues. However it arrived damaged on both top corners and the base. Called their help line and after waiting 90 mins, the rep was pretty much useless. Needless to say the tv is going back. Not worth the money IMO.

Super thin. Very responsive. Picture is amazing! Combined with a good 4K player, movies have been fantastic to watch and overall tv is looks great. Wanted this tv for the darker scenes in movies and this tv does not disappoint. Definitely recommend.

Our Samsung 55" TV made a loud noise like it blew up, so we had to replace it. We drove straight to the nearest Best Buy and they showed us the new Samsung, LG, and Sony models, but once we saw the picture quality of the Sony OLED TV, we were sold on the spot. They gave us a super deal on the 65" model and it included free delivery! It's been a number of years since I purchased anything other than a Samsung TV, but I'm now (once again) a full fledged and loyal fan of Sony (and the OLED TV). Very happy with the price and customer service and knowledge of the Best Buy salesman who sold us the Sony OLED TV. Everyone that comes to watch a movie or a sporting event at our house is impressed with the picture quality...and built in sound!

Should have purchased this a long time ago. Love Sony products. The OLED picture is crystal clear & love the dark black on the picture which other TV’s lack. Audio is incredible. Always loved Sony products except for their cameras as I prefer Canon.

This TV has insane blacks that are so black and vivid colors it is really nice and I love it so much! I keep this TV in our Bonus where we watch movies.

Sony makes top quality TVs. This one does not disappoint! Picture, color, sound - all excellent.

I have spend 2 weeks with this TV and I can say, without a doubt, I do not regret my decision to purchase this over the Z9D. I was a tad concerned with my living room setup, that the OLED would not be bright enough, but the day I got it set up, I knew I had nothing to worry about. The picture quality, brightness, true blacks, and contrast are all amazing for this TV. I replaced my 65" Sony X930D that I had and though it was a good TV, the A8F was a wonderful upgrade. I have it setup to a dolby atmos 5.2.1 setup but even when I switch to just the TV speakers, they perform much better than any other TV speakers I've heard. The only con I have for the TV is we're still waiting for Sony to release Android TV 8 (Oreo) that is currently on their A9F. I have emailed them a few times asking for a timeframe of this release with Android TV 9 (Pie) already being out, and have been told they have no time as of yet. Its not horrible but the performance of Oreo is so much smoother but I did not want to pay the extra for the A9F. If you're you're on the fence between this or the Z9D, both are great TVs. If you have the money for the OLED you will not be disappointed. If you're on a budget, the Z9D will not disappoint you either.

Picture: My last TV was an LG OLED C7, this Sony OLED A8F for picture quality is superior, no question. Highlights are brighter, black levels and shadow details are maintained. Same HDR support as LG. Better motion processing FOR SURE for sports and movies. As far as picture quality goes this is definitely the best OLED on the market today, best quality for your money. Android TV: That said it's downfall is it's user experience, the operating system is far too slow/laggy for a 4 thousand $ tv which was a geniune surprise to me since it's Android TV. That I'd say is the only con going with any Sony TV. But if you plan on hooking up an Apple TV, Fire stick, Roku, or only watch cable you'll be totally be fine. Sound: In a room the acoustic surface works great and is definitely immersive for any type of content, if you're putting it in a living room you'd eventually probably want better speakers/soundbar if your heavy movie/netflix watcher. Also for livingroom just get a regular LED not OLED more on that below. Which OLED is better??? It'll come down to preference. What do you value most, Sony's superior picture quality with a just okay OS, or LG's still great picture and more fluid operating system. I personally demand the best in picture and I have no regrets buying this Sony since its picture is noticably better than my previous LG OLED. But if fast smart features are important to you get the LG C8. ***Disclaimer: I have this tv in a dark room, for the same price buy a Samsung Q9FN if you'll be putting this in a living room or any room with widows/more ambient light. You'll be happier with an LED TV that gets more than twice as bright for those situations, and yet still has inky blacks similar to (just not as precise) when viewed in complete darkness an OLED. Overall the Samsung Q9 is more versatile for a livingroom, more immersive colors, with zero risk of burn in as well. Definitely buy an OLED for mostly evening viewing/a bedroom every time, it's an amazing experience. Summary: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ picture quality. ⭐⭐⭐ Operating system. Why can't I give 4 1/2 stars Best Buy!!! The picture is that good!

I had a lot of time to check this TV out prior to purchase, and now have had the 65" A8F for about 2 weeks now. Absolutely AMAZING! I was a bit put off on the speed of the menus because of the Android OS, but i found some ways online to eliminate the Featured apps and other things that were adding a lot of unwanted loading. Fixed it right up. I do a lot of streaming, Netflix/Hulu for shows, Vudu for my owned movies. Makes an incredible difference to all content, even those that are not 4k. I watch Hockey, which is one of the hardest sports on Motion, Its perfect. Super excited to see what Dolby Vision brings, soon. Went back and purchased the Harry Potter series in 4k HDR, even being a 7-16yr old movies, it DOES make a huge picture quality improvement. Comparing the #1 spec that each major manufacture had, Sonys(Processor-X1 Extreme) LG(Oled Panel) , and Samsung(Q9-Quantum dots). Sony was the only one who had all 3, and did it better. Absolutely worth every penny. I did consider the 900F series, because it was brighter because of the back lighting, but ultimately chose detail over bright provided you do have some control in the settings for that.

Without a shadow of a doubt, this TV definetly offers the best Picture quality out there. Black levels are amazing, contrast is on point, colors really come to life and the acoustic surface with the two subs really pack a punch compared to any other tv speakers. Design is really cool and futuristic and material feels high quality giving it that premium look and feel to it. Upscaling is top notch thanks to the X1 Extreme Processor and viewing angles are perfect from wherever you watch it. Movies look great, games look great, sports look great, just not enough good things i can say. If you have the money and want the best picture out there, go with the A8F!

I have been wanting and waiting for the right new tv for the last 3 years. I knew I wanted to upgrade my old Sony Bravia for a new OLED when the new product reviews came out earlier this year. I almost pulled the trigger last year on the Sony OLED A1E, but the tilted display just didn't look as "clean" to me. I am so glad I waited for the new Sony Bravia OLED AF8 to be released - this tv is everything I have been waiting for. Very clean, upright appearance with a razor-thin border and INCREDIBLE 4k picture. I have been watching the Masters in 4k and it feels like I am back at Augusta behind the ropes. I was worried about the sound not being loud enough, but I am amazed by how much sound is produced by the glass/actuators (I don't have to worry about a new soundbar now). Granted, I had to convince my wife that a $4,000 tv was justified and now that she has seen it, she agrees I made the right decision. If you have been looking for a new OLED tv, check this one out - it will not disappoint!

I've always found myself getting higher end televisions within 12-18 months of the technology coming out. The first HDTV I had was a Samsung 42" 720p. I got on board with DLP, 1080p, 1080p projection, 1080p plasma, 4K and now 4K HDR. Ranking impact on my eyes with how technology improved the viewing experience, I'd say #1 was the 720p, #2 was the 1080p Plasma Pioneer Kuro and #3 is this Sony A8F. I know the A8F is kind of in the middle of the high end Sonys and the "value" proposition is slightly better on similarly priced LGs if you don't need the sound (which I don't because I have a good soundbar). In person I thought moving images and blacks looked a little better on the Sony compared to the LG and I think that's due to the X1e processor in the Sony. The android interface is good, not great. Certainly not a cause for contention as I use several media devices for my apps. I have a Fire Stick, XboxOne, PS4 and Tivo, so I have access to all of the apps I need. I do very much appreciate the Sony/Android having native FandangoNow and Google Play Store/Google Movies apps as those aren't available on my other devices. HDR+/dolby vision/4K content are all incredible. I briefly had a Samsung QN QLED and, while the picture was nice in my brightly lit living room, it lacked support for a few video formats. I rarely notice "soap opera effect" and the processor does a wonderful job at blending less than stellar CGI with the live action stuff (I've often times seen weird grey halos around CGI or people looking like cardboard standouts on other 1080p or 4K TVs, but not on the Sony. I have had strange issues with apps on the android suite such as youtube and Netflix (for instance, at the time of this review, I can't even sign into netflix on the android app - it just constantly tries to connect, while every single other app signs in and I can sign into netflix on other devices like the fire stick or xbox or tivo. I can not review the sound quality as I have it hooked to a soundbar, but I did have the sound going for a few minutes during the initial set up and I thought it had pretty impressive sound performance / the best sound I've ever heard out of a TV, so if real estate/space is an issue, I don't think you can do better than this Sony for sound quality. There are enough HDMI ports to facilitate all of my devices and it has an HDMI ARC port. I haven't noticed that certain HDMI ports don't output the best version of the 4K content like my Vizio. It doesn't have the new HDMI 2.1, which was a serious heartbreaker for me since the new 2019 flagships will have 2.1 (I don't think it will be too terrible an issue as I don't see support for 2.1 even being available for 3-5 years in any meaningful way). I can't speak to the refresh rate on gaming, but I played Apex Legends on this and it looked great and displayed well. I would give this TV a 4.5 as I think the cost pushes it into a territory where small nitpicks become legit issues, but I would highly recommend this TV to anyone in the market for a high(er) end television.

Big fan of the OLED, blacks are true and image is crisp. Upscales well, and HDR is vivid. I will say though that Android TV SUCKS. The software has very annoying delays and glitches that take away from an otherwise great tv. I mainly use a 4K Apple TV to avoid these issues but just today the TV froze while attempting to change the volume.

I got the TV a few weeks ago to replace my 65" Samsung JS9000 that I've had for about 2 years. The A8F blows that TV out of the water. I'm a former Best Buy employee so every single day I would walk by this TV and just wish that one day I would get this. Being an employee you see all the TV's we sell all day. When the A1E came out I wanted it. Just seeing an OLED compared to everything else will sell you on it. So when I left Best Buy I decided to treat myself and I bought the 65 A8F. Yes, it's expensive. No, I didn't need to put that much money on my credit card but let me tell you, I've never been happier with a purchase. The picture is so much better than I hoped when I got it home. I played some HDR demos for what seemed like hours. I couldn't stop looking at it. The PS4 Pro and my PC shine on this TV. It's really incredible. If you haven't seen this TV in person you really have to. If you're looking at TVs this is 100% the way to go. I'll never go back to Samsung again.

Works best in light controlled rooms, however the picture is still great with the window shades open. Motion, black levels and colors are all OUTSTANDING! I still grin ear to ear every time I watch it. Make sure to take care of it as it’s an Oled and is more susceptible to burn in. Turning it off when your not watching or with long pauses is more than enough to ensure a long lasting tv! It’s pricey, but worth EVERY PENNY! Highly recommend the 5 year protection just in case you happen to get a burn in.
