The picture has a very fine grain and the color is just icky without color grading. Most of the interface is also digital so getting used to the lack of buttons and focus took some time. The 4k and slo-mo are fun but not super practical in most cases. Compared to my 5D mark ii, Canon still has a much better picture with far superior color. It's great for a grab-and-go and it fills a lot of gaps so if you can justify the price, it's nice to have. I honestly wouldn't recommend it unless you need something that it uniquely offers. Also don't expect to publish anything without doing some color-grading.

I have several Sony cameras, including professional ones, and was looking for a compact one to take on quick trips! This exceeds my expectation! Fast and crystal clear! I just haven't mastered indoor motion under certain lighting and that is my only drawback. Slow motion so fun! Worth the price!

I had the Nex 6 and multiple lenses and loved my kit. However recently my beloved Nex 6 got damaged and I wanted to buy the a6000 to replace it. I happened to chance upon a copy of the RX 10 and fell in love with it. The build quality was awesome. The single zeiss lens from 24-200 at a constant f2.8 was superb. But I had problems with the slow autofocus and the electronic view finder was not as good as the one on my Nex 6. I returned the RX 10 within the 14 day return period to Best Buy and instead ordered the RX 10 M2. Thank you Best Buy for your return policy. I have since played with the M2 for about 10 days now. It meets all my requirements. I LOVE IT. The AF is much better and low light performance is excellent as well. I love the fact that I don't need to change lenses any more. While I have not tried the 4k video or slow motion as I am waiting for my upgraded memory card to come in the mail, the HD video is simply superb. I have taken the camera to an indoor tennis tournament and got wonderful stills and video. Potraits give great bokeh and the pictures are sharp across the zoom range. I have finally found the one camera to fit all my needs. Great job Sony. The 1 inch sensor is so far performing as good as my APSC Nex 6 with the Zeiss 16-70 f4 lens.

Excellent Camera with Excellent image and video quality(HD/4K) for its class, a bit expensive but no regrets.Slow-motion capabilities, good low-light performance and Zoom makes it incredible. Battery life comparatively less than previous model Rx10. Also its unpleasant that you will have to consider buying additional battery AND external battery charger for quick recharge when time is less.

I read other reviews before buying this Sony RX10 II camera and my decision was RIGHT ON! Like many of you, you have so many choices. One of my important criteria is sharpness in low light with and without flash. This camera does a near perfect job producing super sharp pictures indoor without flash. Once you lock in the aperture and set the ISO about right, the photos are amazing without flash!. And with flash, the pictures came out super sharp due to the F2.8 lens. It is true as someone indicated that this camera is your best all-around camera to carry anywhere with you. It has the big zoom with out the need to carry heavy long zoom lens and the size is just about right. As with any camera, nothing is perfect....I tried to find that "perfect" camera but nothing exists. So the weakness of this camera is the occasional inability to focus at the long range of zoom....it does take time to hunt. But that is minor to me.

Constant 2.8 4k video Great lens Great build Just the right size Easy to use if you like Not so easy to use if you like The list goes on……...

This camera performed well with adequate lighting. The problem I had was shooting video in low light, then you would really notice the digital noise. If you want an upgrade from the standard camera phone, with a great zoom and constant 2.8 aperture (if chosen), then go for it. I would really recommend the Sony A6000 over this camera, as you have a larger (APS-C) sensor compared to the 1 inch sensor. and bettr low light performance overall for photos and videos.

As an owner of an A7s, A6000 and a77ii, I can honestly say that I'm blown away by the performance of the RX10ii. The 28-200 is bright and versatile. The stabilization is top notch where I can hand hold sharp pictures at 1/20th of a second at the 200mm equivalent. As long as your photography is static you can pretty much shoot in any light! Lastly, this camera does not overheat shooting 4K for hours on end. Do yourself a favor and give this a try before you get sucked into the DSLR game. You may find yourself fully satisfied with a lot more money in your pocket!

I have only been using my Sony RX10 II for a month, but I really am loving it! I had read a review in USA Today and then read multiple reviews on line before purchasing it, given the $1298 price. Because I wanted a camera for travel which could take wide-angle shots, close up shots, and video~this was a great option for me (even with my basic DSLR, I would need to purchase 2 + lenses). The pictures have been crisp and clear. I really want to try the video option soon!

The image quality of stills produced by this camera is good. The 1-inch sensor makes this a desirable bridge camera. The bright constant 2.8 lens is very nice. Where the camera really shines though is video. This is like a camcorder on steroids. If you are looking for a video camera with a bright lens and a large sensor then this may be good for you.

Hi Shauna, thanks for sharing your concerns about the camera with us. We will forward these to the right people. We do recommend carrying extra batteries when shooting for a long period of time, recording in XAVC S format or HFR. This is an incredible camera. Whether shooting stills, nighttime long exposures, nature photography, 4k video, or even slow-motion video, this camera can do it all. It has an excellent Zeiss lens that is sharp even at full zoom, and with having f2.8 max aperture over the full range makes for great shots. I took it on vacation and got incredible photo's and played with the slow-motion video and loved the results. I only wish the lens could have gone wider, like 16-200, instead of 24-200, but regardless it's a great camera.
