Sound is great when working properly. To many issues with connection issues. Loses connection to much till it finally gave out. Sound bar froze and cant do anything with it right after warranty expires. Not built to last.

I looked for months and read countless reviews and Reddit threads, watching all the YouTube videos too. I have a Sony x91j and wanted a powerful sound experience with ease of use so I went with this and the sw5 sub. This setup is in our basement with 9’ ceilings and atmos was incredibly weak. The sub stopped working after a week and I couldn’t listen to this soundbar without it. In my opinion, for the amount of money you pay, Sony just isn’t it. The soundstage on this, even after optimization, is terrible. I’d be sitting on the left side of our couch and felt I couldn’t hear anything in my left ear. I returned all of this for the Bose 900 and base module 700 and even without running adaptive IQ optimization, bose was better than Sony straight out of the box. I really wanted the Sony to work with the ease of connectivity with my tv but that’s all it did well. Overall, it’s underwhelming for the price you pay. The height channel, sound stage, and sub are all miles beyond with the Bose and it isn’t even close. Please avoid my mistake and stay away. The new $600 rears with the Sony wouldn’t help this. With the Bose 900 and 700 base module, there’s so much power, for our room and height, we don’t need the rear speakers. Best of luck with your decision!

The sound is great when it works. I do have a lot of connectivity issues. I pair this with a Sonny Bravia tv. And time to time the tv does not recognize the sound bar and there is no sound. Im not able to find a solution to solve this.

Sound is pretty great for a sound bar, but its glitchy. It will cut out for a couple seconds every 15 min or so which is pretty annoying during movies. It also switches itself from tv to hdmi frequently. Id love it if it werent for those isuues

Sound quality and the features are excellent. Its just not worth it when the product stops working Out of the Blue to no avail Right when the 1 Year Warranty is up. Contacted Sont Directly with it being Their Product to help fixes the issues that occured. But they dont do anything but ask question after question with no solution. And sending you to someone to help reslove the matter. So its nice to have. Like i stated. Nice sound quality, never had connection issues whether wired, Bluetooth, or with the a Subwoofer thats sold separately. Just not worth the buy if the product doesnt last like it should.

Sony is not what it was. The sound quality is great but probably not better than a Vizio. Connectability issues. Will not connect with Alexa through the Sony app. Randomly switches from hdmi to tv output.

The sound bar sounds great, but we have had issues with it starting after only a couple weeks of buying with it cutting out and turning off on its own. We sent it into sony and they couldn’t even fix it. Would not recommend.

This soundbar is really good once it has time to break in. I was disappointed at first,, but after a couple of weeks the sound widened and became much richer. Also using the screen as the center channel really does make the dialogue feel like it's coming from the person speaking. It does however, need a separate subwoofer. The base is better than most soundbars, but cannot replace the immersive feeling you get with a subwoofer. I took off one star for the need for a subwoofer that isn't included and one for the fact that I have a wireless subwoofer that came with another Sony soundbar and it won't connect. You have to buy one of two specific models (the cheapest being $400). All Sony wireless subwoofers should work with it.

The A5000 soundbar when paired with subwoofer and surrounds does a great job and gives you a immersive experience with any Dolby or DTS content thrown at it. That being said the connection when plugging into the hdmi input has me shaking my head at times. The handshake issues between the soundbar and my Sony a80j tv is terrible. Definitely takes to long for two products of the same make, quality 8k cables all settings on tv and soundbar are correct. If this wasn’t an issue this product would be perfect.

The sound bar works great when you are watching a blu-ray movie on disc. The problem is that when you are watching TV, the sound bar causes a lag in the synching of audio and video. It is horribly distracting and makes me wish I had not bought it. If there is a fix to synch the audio and video while watching TV, I would LOVE to hear it!!!!!

These steps may also help resolve those issues:
-Set the adjustment value of the delay between the picture and sound to 0 msec if it is set to the range between 25 msec and 300 msec. Please refer to the steps on this link:

-A time gap between the sound and picture may occur depending on the sound source. If your TV has a function that delays the image, use it for adjustment. For details, refer to the operating instructions of your TV.

It’s fine - it’s supposed to connect to the a80k, creating center channel which creates (supposedly) a more immersive sound. It doesn’t work. When connected to the a80k, it produces a hissing noise. Total tech has been out here twice and there’s no fix. When disconnected from the tv (using hdmi only) it sounds pretty good, but it isn’t what we were sold. Probably going to return.

If there is a device nearby that generates electromagnetic waves, such as a wireless LAN or a microwave oven in use, set the optional speaker and the speaker system apart from it. If there is an obstacle between the optional speaker and the speaker system, move or remove it. Set the optional speaker and the speaker system in a position as close as possible.
To isolate the issue, please factory reset the soundbar and try again. Here's the link on how to.

I was little bit disappointed I was expecting something real "clean" as far as sound wise, especially if you are watching a movie in 5.1. If you listen to music, is also the same thing the cleanness of the sound is far form being perfect. If you don't care about quality, this is perfect for you but IT DOES THE JOB. Quality vs price is not that that thing is expensive!! The woofer plus the bar was close to $1500. I wouldn't do it again!

item its ok i purchased the sound bar with the subwoer added the 2 rear wireles speakers. the Atmos part really does work great u have to turn down ur other speakers and. still then u really dont pick it up. i tell u to try the samsung qq990b or 990c.

It sounds great at the store, I ended up not setting it up in my house because of the 2 hdmi connections, on opposite sides. That would have messed up my cable arrangements from all my TV connections. Why couldn’t have Sony made it with one HDMI for it work instead of one in and one out.

A good soundbar, but sony needs to fits it problem with the soundbar. It keep freezing up with the word Hello. I thinks it would be a good soundbar onec they solve the problem. Price is a bit high.

Sounds really good! Was super easy to set up… the only problems l have are 1) disconnected from the Wi-Fi twice a week 2) l have to unplug HDMI and replug lt ln for every use

This is not the experience we want you to have. Kindly allow us to assist you. We highly suggest not to place any metal objects other than a TV around the speaker system to avoid interference.
