I needed a sound bar for a 42 inch Insignia "non-smart" TV with a bit of volume and clarity in the mid- to upper-frequencies, that is as wide as possible without exceeding the width of the TV. It will eventually be used for a kitchen environment, but more immediately as a remote A/V unit to display a slideshow and play background music in a backyard setting. It will be plenty loud enough for background music, but I will be using a small subwoofer for the outdoor event. . When I bought this unit, I also needed to buy a mounting bracket to host the soundbar with the TV when I mount it on the swinging wall bracket I will use in its final mounting place. . If I were not looking for a higher wattage, I might consider the Insignia NS-SB21, which only rates 40 Watts... compared to this Sony HTS100F (120 Watts). It also has a small subwoofer, which I'd be hard-pressed to find a place for in my usage. I am seeing other soundbars than when I made my purchase that I might have considered.

The soundbar sounds good, has good base for the price i use it in my bedroom so I really don’t need much there but i can enjoy a good movie with decent sound now, my only complain its that the soundbar had a dent on one side i didn’t returned it cause i live far from bestbuy, the bar was cheap and had no sound issues.

I love my soundbar. It really generates great sound. I feel like I am part of the movie or show I am watching. I only wish it included the HMDI cable. My cable stopped working.

I use this mainly as a sound bar for my LG TV, using fiber optic. I use it some as a bluetooth speaker. This is an OK speaker for the price point. It doesn't have amazing bass like a set with a separate sub would, or a much more expensive sound bar stand-alone... but I wanted to save space (I am not crazy about a separate ugly sub taking up room) and I wanted to save money, so I did not upgrade to something that would have more bass built into the sound bar. It was hard talking myself out of spending more money to have more amazing full bass sound, but I am still happy that I stuck with my plan, saved the money, and kept this sound bar. I think I would have upgraded if this was my only system though, but it is not. It is far better than the TV speakers, and it sounds just fine. It has a lot of power, and I like the slim design (the LG one I tried blocked the remote signal, this one works great in front of the TV on stands). The built-in bass is just OK, and the remote has multiple sound presets that are nice. I would have liked to compare it to the Yamaha at the same price point, but they did not have one in store to try out. Even this one was not hooked up to anything to try out in store.

Easy to connect to tv with hdmi cable very loud great when watching events. Remote comtrol makes it easy to adjust volume and switch between blutooth, aux, hdmi. The only downside is you cannot adjust voice or bass at all.

This 2-way speaker bar has more dynamic range and less distortion when loud versus the Sony tv speakers which was our goal. It even has some hi fidelity qualities to it. This makes it an excellent choice for smaller budgets.

Easy to setup and connect to TV or your mobile device. Sound is average at best. Hardly any base but built quality seems good.

I picked this up for cheap in Open Box - Excellent condition. I'm late to the game, this is my first soundbar, and I'm blown away. Weeks after setting it up, I still find myself shutting it off to hear the difference between the soundbar and the TV speakers, and it's incredible. I'd make sure to read the directions so you can set up the dialog enhancer and make sure night mode is off, but if you're not in need of a booming bass system and just want a 20x improvement on your TV speakers that is plug-and-play, this is a great option.

This sound from this unit is a lot better, particularly for clearness, than the built-in sound of my TV. Bass could be better (no woofer connection). Has lots of settings for types of audio (music, movies, voice). Works to stream via Bluetooth from your phone to other sources. Works with HDMI or fiber connection. Affordable price to improve usually poor built-in sound from TVs small speakers.

I got this significantly discounted at an open box price. It's not going to match the audio quality of a full sound system, obviously, but for the price I paid it was solid definite upgrade over the TV speakers. If you have a nice TV it's worth spending more but if you're just looking for a little more than the TV's basic speakers this is enough to get the job done.

I bought it for my living room tv and what can i say, afterall its a Sony and you feel its built right. The sound is neutral and fills the room, feels much more natural than the speakers on my TV. It has adequate bass bur I would have liked more bass but for the price i shouldnt complain. Love it, for the price its such a good deal and better than other entry level speakers.

Overall, sounds great. The built in tweeters really add additional clarity. The bass isn’t anything amazing, but still fine for those who don’t overlly care about feeling a thump. The only thing I noted was annoying was that when I connected my iPad, the loudness for low volume steps up dramatically, which I wish there was an in between or more fine grained control. Other than that though, great experience.

Solid sound bar. I think it's a good value <$50. It's maybe slightly better to on-par with modern higher level TVs, but this is likely still a very big improvment for older or lower spec TVs. I didn't notice much of a difference with a 2025 TV in the living room, but it now has a home under a bedroom TV that's 6-7 years old.

An economical item that was easy to set up and provides good sound. The lack of a display on the soundbar makes adjustments a bit more complicated but manageable. A good value for the price.
