An honest review of these headphones is very difficult because they’re hit and miss. I will list the pros and cons. Pros: When connected to my PS5 they work seamlessly and automatically display the headphones once connected. It has a selector switch to for PS5/PS4 and PC. When gaming, it feels like you’re there and the sound is coming directly at you. I play a lot of Call Of Duty and these headphones do help with footsteps. When used on PC they work great and the mic is great as well. The mic also swivels up and down. Once swiveled up it is muted. Once swiveled down it is unmuted. The audio is great and they also have ANC (Active Noise Cancelling). The noise cancelling works great and the audio is excellent. The battery life is great and you can also use them while they charge which helps out alot. I’ve used them all day without charging or turning them off and then come back to use them and they’d still be working with no problems. Cons: There is not an alert or any caution that notifies you that the headphones need to be charged or when it reaches 100%. So unless you plug them in and wait to charge them for a while you won’t know. There also isn’t a way for you to know what percentage the headphones are on unless you get the app for the headphones on PC and install the software for it which makes no sense. Various headsets do this feature and it’s a headscratcher as to why Sony couldn’t or didn’t implement it into these, especially for the price point that these are at. Lastly, the price for these are $299.99 plus tax. I see no reason as to how or why Sony could charge this much and not have the simplest features included in their premium gaming headset. Overall: These headphones sound great, the battery life is great, the mic is great but Sony really missed on these for not adding simple features that come standard on cheaper headsets.

The audio is great, the noise cancelling works almost too well and It can be turned off with a switch. You can customize your sound profile using the desktop app available for free on PC. The microphone is extremely loud and picks up your sound almost too well. The build quality is fairly cheap, the foam off the headset is already peeling off almost not even 3-5 months of owning it. Major downside is also the extremely high price

Hi Buzzmoo, thanks for choosing and purchasing our product. We're glad you like the sound and noise canceling feature of the INZONE H9. We're sorry to hear that you have an issue with the mic and earpads of your Sony unit. Regarding the microphone being extremely loud, this can sometimes be due to the Sidetone function, which makes it easier to talk on the headphones by playing your voice naturally. Your voice will be heard from the headset through the headset’s boom microphone (Sidetone function). In this case, ambient sounds or the sounds of the headset operation may be heard through the headset, but this is not a malfunction. Please check this link for more details:

Amazing sound quality and noise cancellation, the best I’ve ever used. However the head padding fell off within about THREE MONTHS! And then the microphone just stopped working after a few more months. I also treated it very delicately. Wish they could fix those problems because otherwise is a great headset.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback, OliverK!
We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you found the INZONE H9 headset to have amazing sound quality and noise cancellation, calling it the best you've ever used. This performance is precisely what we aim for in our premium gaming line, and your praise is incredibly rewarding for our design team.
However, we are truly sorry to hear about the durability issues you experienced, specifically the head padding falling off after three months and the subsequent failure of the microphone. We understand how frustrating it is when a product you treat delicately does not meet your expectations for longevity.
We take quality and durability very seriously, and this is certainly not the performance we intend to deliver.

Good sound and features. However, the padding on the top started coming off within the first few months of light use. Expect better quality for this price.

Hi JMann3476,
Thank you for the purchase! We're glad to hear that you like the sound quality and smart features of the headphones. Your feedback is greatky appreciated. This is a difficult question to answer because everyone treats their headphones differently and the longevity of the earpads will depend on how the individual cares for them.

INTRO: Sony is entering the expensive wireless gaming headset industry. And while some might know that Sony actually does make HiFi headphones and audio equipment, it’s important to note that none of that DNA really exists in the Sony INZONE H9. Rather, the H9 is more closely related to Sony’s mainstream consumer headphones like the WH-1000XM5 in terms of sound while retaining the PlayStation 5 aesthetic. UNBOXING: The unboxing experience is honestly barebones with a paper construction—which is better for the environment compared to plastic. In the box, you’ll find your USB-A to USB-C charging cable, a USB-A dongle and the H9 headset. Additionally, there are some INZONE stickers as well as the warranty, safety and reference guide. BUILD: Despite being quite lightweight, the H9 is rather large due to its ear cup design. The plastic of the ear cups and headband has a nice matte textured finish reminiscent of the PlayStation 5. And the LED indicators at the yokes are helpful for showing the connectivity status with 2.4GHz and Bluetooth. Although connectivity over 2.4GHz didn’t have the most impressive range, as I did experience it cutting out more than some other headsets I have. The ear pads are using the same memory foam inner cushion and sweat-resistant exterior padding as the XM5, but the ear cups are deeper on the H9 to accommodate larger size ears. So the inspiration from the XM5 is very obvious, but they’ve made some smart adjustments to better suit a wider range of head sizes. I don’t think these ear pads are removable, but I think Sony’s hoping that their sweat resistant pads will make them easier to clean and that the pads are unlikely to wear out as fast. Additionally, I do like that the H9 has tactile headband height adjustments with 10 fixed stops on each side, whereas the XM5 has smooth gliding height adjustments. If you’re the kind of person who wants the adjustments to be symmetrical on each side, the H9 has you covered. I only had to adjust to the 3rd or 4th height setting on each side for my average head. And the headband is flexible enough to stretch out for wider heads. COMFORT: Comfort of the H9 is pretty good, overall. I have been able to wear the H9 for hours at a time with occasional breaks. The ear cushions are soft, and I didn’t have issues with my ears getting particularly hot. The headband comfort in my experience is also good. This is usually a point of contention for me across different headphones and headsets, but I’m glad that the lightweight design paired with the thicker headband padding yields great comfort. SETUP: The setup process is very simple on PC and PS5. The USB-A dongle has a “PC” and “PS5” toggle switch that you can set before you plug it in to your respective device. PC users will additionally have the ability to download the INZONE Hub app for Windows which will give you access to sound settings, microphone settings and settings for ANC and Ambient sound modes. Once your dongle is toggled to the correct device and plugged in, you should see the LED indicator on the dongle blink to let you know it is waiting for the headset to pair. Simply put the H9 on your head and power it on by holding the frontmost button on the right ear cup. You will hear a short, audible beep, and within 5 seconds, it will make another beep to indicate that it has been automatically paired with the dongle. And if you want to power off, simply hold the power button until you hear a longer beep. FEATURES: On the headset itself, the left ear cup has the microphone which mutes and makes a tactile click when you flip it up. Additionally, the left ear cup is home to the USB-C charging port, volume dial and the ANC/Off/Ambient sound toggle switch. The right earcup has the power button, bluetooth multifunction button, and the Game/Chat mixing buttons. It’s a little weird that there’s no physical microphone volume adjustment on the H9, but you can of course control it in software. Additionally, there is an LED indicator on both ear cups where the headband attaches to the ear cup. One feature to briefly highlight is that you can use Bluetooth while simultaneously using the 2.4GHz wireless. In my testing, you can use the microphone on one device at a time, but can receive sound from a Bluetooth device and PC/PS5 simultaneously. SOFTWARE: For PS5 users, the H9 integration is plug and play. There’s no additional download, and everything works as you would expect. You can control volume, mix game and voice chat audio, toggle your ANC and transparency modes (although there will be no visual indicator for this on your PS5), and flipping the microphone up will mute it, which will also visibly indicate such on the PS5 as well as your DualSense controller. On PC, you get the same feature set, although it’s certainly more involved since you will need to configure your default sound output device to the “Game” output while your communication apps like Discord will use the “Chat” output. If you don’t want to use the Game/Chat mixer on the H9, then I’d just set everything to use the “Game” output device. When using the INZONE Hub on PC, you gain access to some more features not available on the PS5. The first thing you gain is the ability to set your own sound profiles and save them. Sony includes their EQ presets which are Flat, Bass Boost, Music/Video, and Custom. The Custom preset allows you to customize your own 10 band EQ. Unfortunately, these EQs do not persist from device to device, nor do they apply to audio transmitted over Bluetooth. There is no EQ for the microphone. The INZONE Hub also gives you access to their Spatial Sound and personalization features which can have you take a picture of your ears to use a personalized sound profile when you have Spatial Sound enabled. You can also set Dynamic Range Control which is supposed to give you the option of making quiet sounds a bit louder which might help for certain games. I don’t personally use this. Additionally, you’ll be able to control the sensitivity of ANC or Ambient Sound modes which you don’t have any control of directly on the H9. There’s also the ability to enable “Focus on Voice” during Ambient Sound mode to make voices more prominent. The Hub also gives you access to control your microphone gain and sidetone monitoring. By default, Automatic Gain Control is enabled if you don’t want to manually set your microphone volume. You can also adjust the Game/Chat balance and adjust basic settings like if and when it will automatically power off. SOUND: The stock sound signature of the H9 is not particularly special. It has the typical boomy overpowered bass and a fair midrange presentation. The treble overall is somewhat relaxed to my ears—which is likely a good thing for long gaming sessions, as you don’t want to fatigue your ears with bright treble. I played a number of games on PC and PlayStation 5, and overall, I think the H9 does a good job at letting you just focus on the game. I honestly didn’t think about the fact that I was wearing a headset, and was just immersed in the games at hand. I can’t speak for competitive gaming, but I think for most games, the H9 presented audio in a reasonable way. The Spatial Sound option in the INZONE Hub was not a good experience. It actually made everything sound more narrow to me—centralizing every sound into the center of my head, rather than creating a wide spatial effect. For music, I really find this headphone’s stock sound signature to be uninspiring. The Bass Boost and Music/Video EQs in the INZONE hubs are also laughably bad. For those with more discerning ears, consider using the EQ to dial in a better frequency response to better suit your preferences. For my preferences, I toned down a bit of the bass and brightened up a bit of the treble to my liking. And honestly, it’s serviceable. It’s not going to make me excited to listen to music, but I think it will suit the needs of casual listeners. ANC & AMBIENT: The ANC borrows from the work Sony has been doing with their WH-1000 series headphones since 2016. And in my experience, the ANC is quite good. It’s not as powerful as the XM5 headphone, but it’s strong enough to hide the high pitched fan noise of a whiny laptop. So if you’re gaming in an environment where there are droning noises, the H9 will do a good job to help keep you immersed. I don’t personally find the ANC pressure to be overwhelming, but some people are more sensitive to this kind of feeling. I’d like to see Sony provide better customization for this on the PS5 for console gamers. The Ambient sound mode is not a transparency mode like some other headsets, and even at max sensitivity, things do sound a bit muffled. When you’re playing music at louder volumes, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to hear a whole lot of what’s going on around you, but with less busy audio, you may be able to hear more going on in the environment. MIC: The microphone sounds reasonable for a wireless gaming headset. It doesn’t really carry much low-end bass, so its focus is really more on delivering clarity in the mid-range and treble. This means you won’t get a broadcast style sound, but on a positive note, people will be able to hear you clearly without issue. BATTERY: Sony claims that the battery life on the H9 can hit 32 hours with ANC off. If you’re listening at quieter volumes, you can certainly exceed this number. With ANC on, Sony claims you can achieve 20 hours of use. In my experience actually using the H9, I think their estimates are reasonable. CONCLUSION: For the price, I think the INZONE H9 delivers some of the best ANC in a wireless gaming headset, but it’s not special in terms of sound. If you want a wireless gaming headset that matches the PlayStation 5 aesthetic and brings on excellent ANC, this should be on your radar. But if you are a more discerning listener who wants a more versatile headset for both gaming and music, I don’t think this is a home run.

Hi Xephyroth,
Thank you for taking the time to write such an in-depth review of your experience with the INZONE H9 Wireless Noise Canceling Gaming Headset. Good to know that you appreciate the great features, amazing noise cancellation, overall comfort, and you're utilizing the built-in equalizer on the INZONE Hub software.
We're also sorry you're having some audio dropouts when using the usb transceiver (2.4ghz). Because the USB transceiver, Bluetooth devices, and wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11ax/b/g/n) use the same frequency band (2.4 GHz), microwave interference may occur and result in noise, audio dropouts, or communications being disabled if this headset is used near a wireless LAN device. In such a case, perform the following steps.
- When connecting the headset to the USB transceiver or a Bluetooth device, use the headset at least 10 m (30 feet) away from the wireless LAN device.
- If this headset is used within 10 m (30 feet) of a wireless LAN device, turn off the wireless LAN device.
- Use this headset and the USB transceiver/Bluetooth device near each other as much as possible.
When the headset exterior is dirty, wipe it clean with a soft dry cloth. If the headset is particularly dirty, soak a cloth in diluted neutral detergent and wring it well before using it to clean the headset (excluding the earpads).
For low sound quality, when playing music, if the headset and the transmitting Bluetooth device are connected via an HFP or HSP Bluetooth connection, switch the Bluetooth connection to A2DP by operating the connected device. Please note that if you connect the headphones to a computer, the Equalizer, Spatial Sound, Dynamic Range Control, Game/Chat Balance, and Microphone volume settings are active only when the headphones are connected using the USB transceiver. These settings can't work when they are connected with a Bluetooth® connection.
Despite your concerns, we truly appreciate to hear you like that you can enjoy chatting and calling on your smartphone and extend the slider to adjust the length of the headband of your INZONE H9. We’ve designed our INZONE H9 headset to bring your game soundtrack to life. A symmetric acoustic structure, flexible enough to comfortably fit a variety of individual head shapes and sizes, enhances sound quality and spatial acoustic precision. With 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming, your audio will be amplified for your mission. Developed from our expertise in music headphones, the diaphragm of the INZONE H9 has a unique shape that allows it to reproduce extremely high-frequency sounds with high compliance, as well as authentic low frequencies, for an immersive gaming experience. Thank you for sharing your feedback and for choosing Sony! -Jess

It's an ok headset, thats priced too high. The Active noise canceling is really good, but not really necessary for a gaming headset as there are headsets out there that have noise canceling ear pads, that are way better priced. I got to say that it is a comfortable headset, if not wearing for VR / PSVR2, not a good VR headset. Also at that price point, with no detachable mic? Headsets $150 cheaper have detachable mics. The permanent mic ruins the look of this headset. Not a bad headset, overall, but just not for me. There are more comfortable headsets out there that are just as good or better, with detachable mics, and are cheaper priced. The USB dongle may not work properly, kept getting audio static and distortion. I returned the H9 and got the razer blackshark v2 pro, which too me is way more comfortable, has a good price and has a detachable mic and noise canceling ear pads. Not looking at another sony Inzone series headset until they add a detachable mic, lower the price and add a version of the headset with nosie canceling ear buds instead, so they can sell it cheaper.

Hi Roger, we're sorry to hear that you had returned your Sony unit because of the boom, comfort and the price. We really wish we could change your opinion about our INZONE H9. The fixed microphone design limits the headset's appearance and comfort. While the headset has its merits, you prefer options that offer detachable mics, better comfort, and more competitive pricing. Sound quality is good. Headset is more comfortable than the sony pulse headset and is adjustable. How ever the adjustment doesnt go small enough. Honestly who buys these and extends the arms all the way. With it on the smallest setting it is just a tick better fit than the non adjustable pulse head set. For reference im 6ft tall 160lbs and i dont have a melon head like the engineers who keep making these headset designs. All the r&d and that issue never came up?? However unlike the pulse the h9 is very comfortable even for hours of use on a long night of gaming. There seems to be electronic interference that i never had a issue with the way less expensive pulse headset. For 300 dollars this headset should have less issues but as i stated the comfort is better than the pulse and for that reason alone im keeping them. The capability to use with your phone at same time is a feature that seems unnecessary to me but opinions may differ.but while using headset for gaming when you answer a call your still hearing your games and ingame chats at same time so you must use the button on the side to change which your hearing more of. So at that point i might as well just pick up my phone and take the call and mute my headset. Also theres a switch to go from pc to ps5 this is crucial to switch or it wont display power level on your ps5 hope this review helps someone make up their mind on this product i actually had a friend recommend these he is 300lbs at 6ft he still wear it on the smallest setting if these issue get addressed id be glad to recommend but as of now its a hard pass since the comfort was literally the only redeeming quality these had to offer. And since im tired of searching for a better headset these will have todo.... For now

Hi mborland,
We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing muddy sound and trouble connecting to your Denon receiver.
For the audio quality, we recommend adjusting the equalizer settings using the INZONE Hub software on your PC, as this will help clear up the sound profile. Regarding the Denon receiver, please ensure the headset is in pairing mode (press and hold the Bluetooth button until the indicator flashes blue) and that your receiver supports Bluetooth transmitter mode (BT TX), as many receivers only receive Bluetooth signals from phones rather than sending audio to headsets.

sound is great, connectivity is great, very comfortable, but the reason why im only giving it 3 stars is because i purchased these to use mainly on my ps5 and the microphone is garbage, it picks up any little noise on the house, and there is no way to adjust it, even lowering the sensitivity all the way down on ps5, it is still very sensitive, it picks up my breathing which is very annoying to people in my voice chat. i would expect for the price a much better microphone design. i do love that i can connect to ps5 and iPad at the same time and hear sounds from both.

On my 3rd pair. First was an open box and the mic didn't work, so I'll take that one with a grain of salt. the second pair the "leather" around the head bar, just came out, no reason it was sitting on my table I came back the next morning and it was apart. this last one the software to update it won't work. The headset is great when it works. Prob one of the most comfortable I've had in awhile even though its kind of bulky. sound is amazing I've turned it way up and been able to use them as speakers lol. Total noise cancelling. Fully immersive. Can jump from PS to PC on the fly and just as great on PC. If you pick this up, grab the extended just in case you need to swap it out. I would recommend because they are really good but be aware quality issues seem to be a thing.

As a Pulse 3D ower, I was very excited about this headset. The comfort is unmatched. I'm very sensitive to clamping force, but these felt amazing without feeling like they'd fall off my head. Everything was great about the H9's until I found out you can't use the PS5 profile on the H9's dongle AND customize the EQ settings. If you use the PC profile on the H9's dongle with the PS5, you can get the custom EQ settings, but then you lose functionality with the PS5. meaning you can't use the game/chat mixer, or the mic, or receive PS5 notifications for volume, mute, and so on. I was extremely disappointed. When using the PS5 mode on PS5 it doesn't sound bad. Compared to the the Pulse headset it had better bass and overall fuller sound. But for a $300 price point that you can't mess with EQ settings for PS5, this feels like a big letdown. it really needs custom EQ for it to shine. I'm sure something like this can be fixed in a future software update, but with no guarantee, I can't justify holding onto these as a primary PS5 source

Hi KenshinNGB,
While we're glad you like the most of the features and comfort of your INZONE H9, we're sorry to know that the available functions for operating the headset does not work properly. The INZONE H9 have the ability to create/save sound profile and fine tune sound frequencies to your game for more clarity and immersion using the EQ function in the INZONE Hub PC software. After completing the INZONE Hub software setup, other settings can also work when the INZONE Hub software is not running, such as when the headphones are connected to the PlayStation®5 or a Bluetooth device.
When you connect a PS5™ and the headset with the USB transceiver, you can do the following.
• Check the volume balance between game and chat
• Display the on/off status of the microphone
• Check the headset volume
• Display the remaining battery charge of the headset
• Check the connection status of the headset
Note:
• If the functions listed above cannot be used, make sure the slide switch of the USB transceiver is switched to the PS5 side.
• When the PS5 is not updated, the functions listed above may not be available. Update the system software of the PS5 to the latest version.

However the software it ships with leaves lots to be desired, and it is almost impossible to update the firmware so this is why I give 3 stars, when it really should be 6 stars instead. While I could not update the firmware, and the application does annoyingly prompt me to do so, the headset has the best audio experience in the market, so I will put up with the software issues and continue using them regardless. Putting this headset on and not being able to hear noise around you is an amazing experience. You won't want to use any others if you try this first, you have been warned :)

I have mixed opinions on this headset. Good: -Decent Sound but no EQ option if using them with the PS5, unlike the Pulse3d Elite headset that allows you to EQ them on the PS5. This headset can only be EQ'ed on the PC. -Better design than the Pulse3d & Pulse Elite, as there isn't a single plastic head band that is easily cracked. (Have had multiple of the two listed headsets crack along that poor design choice) -ANC (Noise Cancellation) is very good. We had trees cut down in our backyard and the woodchipper was right outside ofy bedroom, shaking the house for hours. The ANC worked so well that I was able to fall back to sleep with them on. The Bad: - Bulky & Ugly for use outside of the house. -The Mic is subpar and people said that it sounded incredibly cheap, even though the "tilt to turn on/off" feature is convenient. -For the Price there are other competitive options, likely making going for a set of pure headphones, or a gaming headset with more options a choice worth considering. Conclusion: If you're going to use these in the house and want solid ANC, or you are tired of the durability issues with other Playstation Headsets than these are a decent sounding option. If you want something with a good mic, easily controlled through your PS5 for gaming, or something that doesn't make you look like an air traffic controller then there are likely better options available in the price range.

I really wanted this device but once I finally got it I was plagued with issues after the first year. Headstrap is a joke, flip to mute mic goes in and out depending on which direction it leans toward it looks great but cheap cheap cheap material was used very disappointed in in SONY for this but I still like it over the pulse and happy that an alternative exists

Great sound quality and amazing comfort. However… the quality of the headset cushion is terrible. Within 3 months of contestant use but taking care of the headset the cushion began to break off. There are no parts online to repair the headset so if you do buy them GET THE WARRANTY.

These headphones are not the best for noise cancelation. The sound quality is not bad. They are comfy on ears.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the WH-G900N, TiffanyG. We appreciate your honest review highlighting both the positive and constructive aspects of your experience.
- We’re glad to hear you find the headphones comfortable and that you are satisfied with the sound quality.
- Regarding noise cancelation, the effectiveness can sometimes depend on factors like fit and wearing style. To help maximize the noise cancelation performance, we recommend ensuring the headphones are worn correctly and fit snugly around your ears. Proper fit helps create a tight seal, which is crucial for optimal noise cancelation and sound quality. If using earbuds or ear tips, trying different sizes can also make a significant difference in effectiveness and comfort. Sony’s Headphones Connect app can assist in testing the fit and air-tightness, which directly influences how well noise cancellation works.
Thank you again for your feedback and for choosing us—it helps us continue to improve our products and support!
Best regards,
Gus

Very good sounding headphones. No issues with Bluetooth interference. PC customization is a little lacking, but having an equalizer is nice. I loved the PS5 integration with the chat mixer as well. My biggest issue is the design. They looked a bit strange on my head, very round bulbous ear cups. If these came in black AND white I would have likely kept these headphones. If you use both PC and PS5 (and don’t mind the way these look) they’re a great pair of headphones!

The noise cancelling, comfort, and listening experience are excellent. Right up there with the XM series. So it's a bummer that the Sony continues (launch Pulse headset same issue) to make official headsets with PS5 support that do not support the Dualsense's mute button as an option for muting. This mute button works perfect with every third party headset. Also, the main reason I am returning these is that, even with adjusting and trying different settings, friends tell me the mic audio is very subpar and flaky compared to my existing headsets. For the money you are better sticking with Astro or Steelseries for gaming headsets.

I purchased this product and, after a few months, I was considering giving it up but I didn’t because I had developed a strong preference for Sony products. However, I decided to return it because the sound quality was not satisfactory. I suspect that there was an issue with the specific unit I had, so I exchanged it. The new product worked well, but there was a recurring issue with the volume button on the side. Every time I turned my head, the volume would either increase or decrease. This became quite annoying. I tried to troubleshoot the problem by asking friends, but they were not able to hear me clearly. I believe that this issue needs to be addressed.
