Does the turntable require a grounding wire? What is a preamp and why is it not included?

To answer your first question: no, you do not need a grounding wire for this model because we built that system right into the machine. A preamp is simply a built-in booster. The music signal coming straight from a vinyl record is a quiet whisper, so the preamp boosts it to a normal volume that your speakers can actually play. The great news is that a preamp is already built into the turntable. On the back, you will see an "Output Select" switch. Just flip it to LINE if you are plugging into regular speakers or a soundbar. If your receiver already has its own PHONO plug, switch it to PHONO instead. Does this turntable have automatic replay
Hi Dd! Thanks for asking. We're happy to help! The Sony PS-LX5BT does not feature an automatic replay or repeat function. Once your record finishes playing, it will automatically stop and the tone arm will move back to its resting position, but it won't start playing the record over again on its own. If you want to listen to it again, you'll just need to press the start button manually.
